We have mold in our basement , with mushrooms growing from the brick, what type of expert should we be talking to?
Are you a pro and able to answer this question?

Mushrooms growing from brick are a sign of an active, ongoing moisture source — not just surface humidity. Fungi need sustained water to fruit, so before anyone treats the mold itself, the priority is finding and fixing where the water is coming in.
I'd suggest this order:
Start with a basement waterproofing specialist to identify the moisture source. It could be foundation seepage, a failed weeping tile, grading issues outside, or a hidden plumbing leak behind the wall.
Next, if the affected area is larger than about 10 square feet, bring in a certified mold remediation company (look for IICRC certification) to safely remove it. Mushrooms on brick usually point to a bigger problem behind the surface than what's visible.
One caution: avoid anyone who offers to simply "spray and seal" the mold without addressing the water source — it will come back. Fix the moisture first, remediate second, then repair and rebuild.
Hope that helps point you in the right direction.
