Damp smell

Anonymous user 22/06/2026 - 11:17 AM

Hi, following a previous intermittent washing machine leak (long since dried) I ripped out drywall, including around the bathtub area. There is now a strong smell of damp in my condo, coming from under the bath area. There are a couple of wood batons holding pipes back that appear to have previous water damage but are now dry. The floor under and around the bath is dry / dusty. All fixtures and my drains seem fine. The problem could stem from a rotting wood bath frame or perhaps it's a problem with the building's grey water stack? (there's a dark grey mark next to it which looks off) Which professional do I need to contact? I need a report I can show to my building in the event that it turns out to be their issue to resolve. Thanks!

We will recommend for you to call a certified plumber. They can do a proper inspection were they run isolation tests and cameras to ensure there are no hidden leaks and the stack is has no compromised.
