Install home security camera (Semi-Detached house)
Anonymous user 30/06/2026 - 8:01 AM
I bought a NVR system with 4 PTZ camera for a semi detached house. Can I install that myself or is it better to hire someone to set it up and run the ethernet cables. I don't know how should I take the wires out of the house safely and cleanly. How should I approach this?

You can definitely install it yourself if you're comfortable drilling, fishing cables through walls, and setting up networking equipment. The biggest challenge is usually running the Ethernet cables outside cleanly and weatherproofing everything properly.
For a semi-detached house, a professional installer can ensure the cables are routed neatly, sealed correctly where they exit the home, and that the cameras are positioned and configured for the best coverage. It also saves you a lot of time and avoids potential damage from improper installation.
If you'd like, I can take a look at your house layout and give you some advice, or provide a quote for a complete installation and setup.
