Chaise Sectional

This was my first big furniture buy and the Chesterfield Shop was a great experience from purchase to delivery. I went to the Mississauga location and there many options to choose from. The salesperson was knowledgeable and helped me pick the perfect piece for my loft. I will definitely be going back again.

chair

Appalling customer service after they take your $. 6 weeks to get a shoddily built chair. Called to complain, took over a week for them to get back to us...2 trips from the repair person, 3 weeks later he finally came to pick up the chair, managed to scratch our wall and leave staples all over the floor. Multiple calls to customer service proved absolutely useless...staff Gary from the yonge st shop, Sol and Tom from head office. Do not go!! Tons of better places who value your business

Sometimes we don't get it 100% - but we certainly try our very best, and I am sorry that our customer service let you down, there was a lot of trading phone calls back and forth to you and your husband before we were able to get connected. Leather Sofa

I can't believe the professionalism of this place - I read the reviews on this site and was worried, but when I placed my order I was kept up to date, even though there was a delay, and advised why. Delivery guys were great and even removed my old furniture for me. Would definitely recommend this company - I bought at the North York store.

2piece leather living room set

We bought a 2 piece leather living room set from the Dufferin store. Sales guy was great. We love the colour & seat firmness.

Bought it in June 2013 and had it delivered in July 2013 when we bought our new home.

Everything was fine until temperatures dropped in November 2013 and the heat was turned on in our home. The couch and love seat hold a static charge and we hear "crackling" when we sit and stand. We found this odd as this doesn't normally happen with leather. The charge is so strong that we immediately discharge on anything grounded in the room. It has become very obvious and uncomfortable for our family and guests. Also, when we sit and hear this "crackle", the hair on our arms extends as this static charge is created throughout the whole piece of furniture, not just the cushions.

We did not contact the store immediately when this problem started, as we hoped this was temporary. We called the store on March 4, 2014 to ask if the extended warranty we purchased might advise a solution to this problem. We were NOT asking for a refund NOR were we asking for a replacement set. We were merely asking for suggestions to resolve this problem.

I was transferred to Earl, the sales manager, who informed me that warranty only covers structural problems. Fine. We accept this. Earl became defensive and REFUSED to accept our complaint and an argument ensued. He REFUSED to believe what he was told and insisted that the static charges that are created did not come from the couch & love seat. He was told very clearly that we DO NOT have carpet in our home and this does not happen with our other furniture. This only happens with the set we purchased from that store and we are not imagining noise coming from inside the furniture. Earl dismissed our complaint which forced us to push back during the conversation. We found ourselves getting defensive as we know we are RIGHT! When we didn't back down, he offered to send someone (a furniture expert?) to come to our house and have a look at this. He promised a call within 3 days and NO ONE has called us. Surprise, surprise.

Earl told us that static charge is year round. He is mistaken, as static charge dissipates in the summer when there is humidity. He kept bragging that he has been managing all the stores for 5 years and he HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS. Well, I guess that means that customers are just stupid and of course, since he has never heard of it, it cannot be true? Ridiculous.

We are a busy family and do not have time to fabricate phony stories about furniture.

It took us a long time to find something and we were very pleased with our purchase, initially.

What a horrible way to treat customers. I guess the Chesterfield Shop gets so much business that they can't bother to deal with customer concerns? So much for getting our repeat business. Earl needs to take a lesson in customer service and learn how to properly deal with customers in a professional manner. What kind of manager immediately dismisses a concern raised by a customer and contradicts without investigation? He was arrogant and condescending and we were disgusted with his behaviour. NOTHING is impossible in the world we live in today.

As we approach spring and temperatures rise, the problem will diminish but we are convinced that it will return again when the cold weather comes at the end of the year. Hard to prove this in the warmer months. Our big mistake was not calling sooner.

We should have taken the time to read the reviews before we rushed over to that store. What a mistake!

The Chesterfield Shop sent out a technician who verified that this customer’s home humidifier was broken and indeed, there was much static coming off of the furniture. This has been a freezing, dry and nasty winter. *Nevertheless, we are very sorry this situation occurred, as well as the miscommunication with our customer service consultant, and we are reviewing our procedures. The Chesterfield Shop does its utmost in all facets of the retail spectrum – from selling beautiful quality merchandise at great value, to immediately servicing any issues that come to our attention. We take every complaint seriously and note that we have worked very hard to be in this business for over 66 years as a family run company, and take pride in our generations of repeat customers.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your business and we will continue to do our very best.

Fabric Sectional

I'll start this by saying that in my opinion Chesterfield Shop has nice quality furniture.

I would have loved to pay for my order, received my goods and tell all my friends what a great company they are. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. My sectional was delivered early December, on delivery their delivery guys damaged one of the pieces by slicing it with the knife he was using to remove the plastic wrapping. We'll that sucks, we call the chesterfield shop and are told we have to pay for the damaged piece in full or they will take it back, if we pay and keep it not to worry they will fix it ASAP. The damage wasn't on an area we would sit on and we just moved into a new house the day before, we needed it or had no seating. It took six weeks of harassment to get them to fix the piece. There were a bunch of excuses and I'm sure they were legitimate, they ordered wrong piece, it was snowing, power went out for a couple days. I was told that after the fix it would look like brand new, like it never happened.

The guy fixed it today, really nice guy. I've attached picture of the damaged piece and I've attached a picture of the fixed piece. Although the guy that fixed this did his best, the guy was competent and skilled, it does not look brand new, it looks like it has been repair, so I've spent $3000 for a repaired piece of furniture, thanks Chesterfield Shop.

I have not contacted Chesterfield Shop after the repair and will not contact them because I don't believe they will resolve the issue (they've tried) or compensate me. Sometimes you get burned by a company, this is one of those times. I'm kicking myself that I didn't check Homestars, I check it for all renos I have done, never thought of it for furniture.

On a side note we had a big New Years party this year, I happily told everyone at the party what I thought of The Chesterfield Shop. I plan on continuing to tell people what I think of them for as long as I have this sectional.

The Chesterfield Shop is a family run business, in operation for 66 years, and does it's very best to make our customers happy and house-proud. On occasion, problems do occur resulting from black-outs/ weather, manufacturer delays, human error in ordering custom pieces, and delivery issues. These are rare- and we do sincerely apologize. Poor customer service

This store is a pain to deal with. This will be my first and last time buying from the Chesterfield shop. Their customer service is horrendous when trying to get answers. I had to fight with them to receive my couch for the holidays. Buyers beware, their fancy deposit system is a basically a ransom. and there is no cancellation structure. basically you are stuck.

When you "Special Order" to customize a sofa, there can be unforeseen delays from the manufacturer, especially leading up to the Christmas season rush. sectional couch

We purchased a sectional couch at Chesterfield shop and the whole experience was wonderful. The staff were very knowledgeable and helped us pick the best product to fit our space. They also helped pick the best material and we are thrilled with how it looks in our house. The couch was delivered on time and the whole experience was excellent!

leather reclining couch

Ordered the couch in mid-June. It is now October 17th. The couch has still not arrived. Told it would take 8 weeks - would arrive mid-August; then told end of September/ then told October. Every day a new story. it is on the truck, it did not make it on the truck. has the couch even been made. It is only coming from Quebec. What kind of service is this...will my couch ever arrive?

Update: Bobbi from North York received delivery soon after posting her query. Unfortunately, there was a fabric shortage from the manufacturer in Montreal, which resulted in a delay and did contribute to the additional time spent waiting for her furniture to arrive. The Chesterfield Shop understands that delays (from material shortages, transportation of goods) can be frustrating to customers and will be additionally proactive in letting customers know. We have hundreds of items in stock for next-day delivery, but for a more customized product (picking fabric, leather, arm or leg treatment, etc.), delays that are out of our hands can occasionally occur, and we sincerely apologize and appreciate your patience.
