Moved to a condo

El Cheapo.. you rock! George, Neil and Terry showed up on time. They were very professional and friendly. This amazing crew took the stress out of my move. They worked efficiently, quickly and were very careful with my furniture. The office staff were also excellent on details and following up.Thanks so much!

House to apartment move

George and Sean showed up to my house on time and had the truck loaded quickly and professionally. We rolled to the new apartment and had it unloaded in no time. These two guys were more efficient than most 3 man crews I have seen.

Move

Movers showed up and immediately were talking about how they were hungover and had been out late the night before. During the move they shattered one of my lamps and smashed a chess set. Other than those issues they were fast and friendly however not the most professional in my opinion.

2011 Move

The price was okay, but we had a huge issue with the company. We hired three movers. One had a bad back and said he was limited to driving. One of the movers had to have been about 70 years old -- to his credit, he did more than I expected him but he was slow and could not do much. We had a huge issue (past harassment in the city) with the youngest mover they provided - he left early and was not replaced. I was pregnant and wound up doing a good chunk of the work. We had to have two friends come and help us at our destination. All in all, it was a pretty horrible experience but to their credit, nothing was damaged.

Move from house to house

El Cheapo saved my life (well, at least my back). We booked El Cheapo to move our heavy/bulky items from one house to another in the same neighborhood, hoping to handle the smaller items ourselves. Jordan, Will and Dean showed up on time and did a great job, moving our big stuff far faster than we ever expected (and at a very reasonable rate compared to any other companies who gave us a quote). The move went so well, in fact, we asked them if they would do a second load of smaller items even though we'd only booked one trip. They happily agreed, although it was the end of a very hot and long day for them. Saved me and my poor friends hours and hours of moving (not to mention my back). Would hire these guys again in a heartbeat!

Moving apartment

Worked with El Cheapo twice and i will work with them again. They are serious, give a good price and are very hard working.

The second move was quite complicated and the guys were reallly tired but they did nit stop until everything was in its place.

Moving a few furniture items during PEAK time of the month (and on a weekend)

I was beyond impressed by the El Cheapo team. It was the first time I'd worked with a Toronto moving company, and though the plethora of bargain basement options were tempting, it proved to be great decision to pay a little bit more for El Cheapo. It should be noted that the rates were actually still quite low, and the office staff were even willing to cut my rate because I only needed to move a few items. And all of this for a weekend move during the busiest time of the season (End of April).

I also encountered a number of communications issues on my end leading up to the day of the move (a finicky cellphone) and the staff at El Cheapo were beyond helpful in helping relay information and accomodate my changing situation. And AGAIN, this was just for a couple items, a very small job in the grand scheme of things.

On the day of the move, the office was extremely helpful in coordinating the truck-team with my location (given that I was picking up items from an apartment that wasn't my own), and it was an added bonus to see that 3 guys showed up with the truck, instead of two. A FREE bonus on the part of El Cheapo because they had the manpower on hand.

The 3 movers were extremely friendly, worked quickly and knew exactly what they were doing. They treated my stuff well, and were completely up front about the contract, start/stop times and outlining where additional fees would occur if we went over the estimated time. But of course we didn't, as they worked very quickly and what we'd estimated to take an hour actually took less than 40minutes. Great service.

Anyway, I can't recommend these guys more, and though my move was small, I have to assume the quality of service translates to larger jobs. The company has a great team, and a big enough fleet to ensure service on the day of. The terms of the deal were always very transparent and it should go without saying that I will be using El Cheapo with any future moves I do in the city.

Don't be thrown off by the name! This is a confident and reliable company that doesn't need to hide behind craigslist ads with ridiculous claims, or use lofty adjectives ('Executive" "Premiere" etc) in their name. They're not the cheapest-- that's reserved for the high-risk, bargain-basement companies-- but El Cheapo is certainly still very affordable, and I'd rather pay just a little bit more for service I can rely on.

I highly recommend them. Kudos.

Apartment Move from Oshawa to Toronto

Found El Cheapo Movers online - both on Home Stars and in an article about the 10 best movers in Toronto. We were moving my daughter from an apartment in Oshawa to one in Toronto and very nervous about all the horror stories about movers. From the first contact, El Cheapo was professional and accomodating. We booked the move with only about a week's notice. They explained fees very well, and in the end the total was exactly what I thought it would be. There were no hidden costs at all. Our two movers were AWESOME - on time, friendly and strong. No complaints about the stairs or the awkward basement access at the other end. The guys I dealt with in the office were also terrific, calling when they said they would and confirming everything via email. I would have no hesitation in recommending El Cheapo and I would use them again.

Condo to apartment move

I asked my friends on Facebook who they'd most recommend for movers and about 6 of my friends told me how happy they were with El Cheapo. I called only one week before my end-of-the-month move, but they still acommodated my request with reasonable rates. My movers, Ferdinand and Jason, showed up right on time, were quick, hard-working, friendly and very careful with my furniture. The whole day, they went above and beyond. Now, I'll be one of those people who will be telling my friends that they should use El Cheapo. My move could not have been a better experience.
