Had a problem with the power in the upstairs bedrooms going out occasionaly so I called Hi Lite , big mistake. They sent Mathew and Steve , they spent their time looking for loose connections even though I told them that when the power went out there was a sizzling sound from the circuit breakers. After about 90 minutes they couldn't find the problem ,charged $355 and left.
In the last few months the problem has gotten much worse and I now have no power in those rooms. I called them again but they said it would be a charge of $299 to get somebody right away or $89 if I can wait 3 days, seems reasonable.
Save your time and money , call another company.

Had an existing light fixture that featured a motion and light sensor on it. Over the last several months, the light was not working at night at all. Several cracks have appeared on the sensor as well due to wear and UV exposure.

We went out to Canadian Tire purchased a new fixture sans sensor and called Hi-Lite. Matthew came over with his co-worker (in not so great weather conditions) and removed and installed the new fixture on the scheduled date and time. They did a great job making sure it was straight and installed correctly. This was our third time using Hi-Lite and we continue to be impressed with their service and will continue to use them.

Damage done to Master Breaker Switch. Hi-lite rep came out and inspected what needed to be done, requested Hydro One to come out to shut off power from the street and fixed the problem efficiently. No requirement on my part except to allow access to the garage where the service was located. Professional efficient and courteous service with appreciation for your business.

Very happy with the job Tyler did for me today. Called the company on Monday and the work was done today, Tuesday. Tyler explained everything to me. The cost was high but I know nothing about the cost of replacing a ballist. In the event I need an electrician again, I will call Hi-Lite. I do think they should not charge the $79.00 service charge when you have the work done.

Matthew & Stephen were very professional and communicative. They came within hours and since they don't charge by the hour, but by the service required to fix the problem, they were thorough in their work and took the time to explain the problem and solution.
Before beginning the repair, they sat down and showed me the certificates of insurance, WSIB coverage, the electrician qualifications, and explained the pricing structure. They were organized and did a great job.
The price wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for. I have confidence in their work and would recommend their services.

The lights in my bathroom go off intermittently for no reason. Matthew came over and looked at this problem, and a couple of other electrical issues in my home. He couldn't easily find the source of the problem and only charged me a $89 travel fee. I was happy to pay this.

I have used Matthew and Hi-Lite Electric in the past. They have been consistently professional with me. I'm hoping to have them replace the fuse box in my home shortly.

Excellent, Excellent family run company!!!! We had Tyler in to do the original estimate. We had a lot of work to do. He was honest and very helpful explaining everything that needed to be done, and how we could go about doing it.

We had a full compliment of pot lights installed throughout the kitchen and dining room, several new outlets added, and new lines run, and several lines moved and relocated.

We also switched over from a fuse panel to a 125a board, had a new mast and metre base installed, and new ground run.

The entire team from Hi-Lite came out on the first day and completed almost everything in one day. They were so efficient and professional. It was a real treat to deal with such friendly people. When you are spending 3 days with a crew, they need to be friendly. Luciano (owner) and his electricians know their stuff. Tyler explained everything he was doing, and dedicated a lot of his time to make sure I understood what was happening, and what will happen. The poor apprentice spent all day in our hot attic, but I didn't hear him complain once, although I'm sure he did, (I would have)!

Anyway, I definitely recommend them for any electrical you have. From start to finish, I was impressed. Every day the house was cleaned and left the way it was found, and the work was top notch, and detailed.

I always say you can tell the passion an electrician has for their job when you check the screws on the switch plates. Each screw was lined up perfectly up and down. That's a sign that you care.

Had a simple breaker that needed to be turned on - was not informed that just to drive to my house would cost $79 "travel fee" - then $180.00 to tell me that I need to flip the breaker.
Would not recommend to anyone - slick sales and big mark up. Not happy with this company at all.

Hi-Lite was contacted with respect to two separate lighting issues. A fixture that had experienced a leak from rain water and the other a fixture that would not turn on. Matthew diagnosed both items and determined that the ceiling fixture that had experienced the leak was not damaged and in good working order. The other fixture had a dimmer switch that no longer worked which was replaced. All company representatives were professional, thorough, knowledgeable and a pleasure to do business with. I have subsequently engaged Hi-Lite to upgrade my electrical panel to breakers from fuses.

The original request was to have a new chandelier installed. Upon switching support bracket, they noticed a hidden junction box. Having not being the owner at the time of the renovations and seeing a good amount of home renovation shows on HGTV where you learn about the hazards of shoddy electrical work (which can lead to a fire), the cost of the original request quickly shot up because of the additional work required.

Sure it can be upsetting to have to deal with unanticipated costs but that is not the fault of the company. They are ethical in their work in that what they do meets "building code" which apparently not all companies follow. Knowing that your home will be up to code and a common risk of a house fire is being eliminated. Unfortunately, it is what a homeowner should budget for after they have moved into a new place.

The Hi-Lite electrical team made sure they were available to get the job done over the span of three consecutive days and before the long weekend. They were prompt in showing up when they said they would and put in a full day's work to meet their deadlines.

In the end, our electrical was properly wires and electrical outlets were actually upgraded to meet codes that aren't even in effect for another two years and of course, the chandelier got installed.
