Over twenty thousand dollars later, I still have a leaky basement and am unable to get RCC to even come out and assess the problem despite e-mailing photos and calling over a three week period. I am sadly disappointed in the quality of the work that was done waterproofing my foundation, and with the follow up from the company.
The problems: First, the foundation still leaks in an area that is under a porch. I was initially told the stairs to the porch needed to be removed to waterproof correctly, but when the job was done, the stairs weren’t removed and I still have water puddling on my basement floor.
Second, the excess soil from the excavation was not removed as I was told it would be, but was instead piled on our walkway and under the porch. This soil under the porch is now high above the waterproofing line, does not dry out, and has lead to further dampness issues (separate from the leak!).
Third, after the waterproofing excavation I was left with a lot of damage: a gate was broken, gates were not replaced, stone patio stones were cracked, garden stonework was lost (probably under my porch!), large sections of garden were destroyed. I understood that damage would occur but the majority of the damage was as the result of the crew using a Bobcat to excavate when I had been assured that the digging would all be by hand.
RCC did allow me to hold back $1000 until the spring to address the soil under the porch and the grading issues, but after a crew came in the fall to repair the gate post, they began demanding the full payment. They called numerous times, and even sent me an invoice charging me interest. It took numerous e-mails and a phone call to resolve that.
Now, it’s spring, and they keep calling to do the grading work. Each time, I repeat: “I have a leak that has to be addressed before grading.” Each time, RCC promises to have someone call. I still have not been able to get someone out here to see to the leak. So, my review is two stars. The majority of the waterproofing was fine, but the care for my property and the follow up when a problem occurred is beyond frustrating. Look around for another company. You deserve better than this.
