Backyard Interlocking Stone Patio Part 1

Contacted Sure-Loc after reviewing their work at a friends house even though I was warned not to use them. Salesman measured the area to be done (drawing showed dimensions such as 6 feet by 10 feet) and provided a quote based on approximate square footage and using a stone from a supplier they don't normally deal with however I was assured it wouldn't be an issue. This was due to I had previously used this stone on my front and side with another contractor and had some left over. On the day they were to start I stayed home all day waiting for them and they never showed up. At the end of the day the salesman called and advised me that they couldn't do the job for the price quoted due to the higher cost of the stone. I asked for a full refund and received it. The next day the salesman contacted me again and said that he felt bad for what had happened and wanted to offer to do the job as we had agreed, I hesitate however agreed because I didn't want to wait any longer. On the day of the scheduled installation the stone I ordered was delivered first AM. A crew showed up a couple of hours later to dig everything by hand because they couldn't get a machine into my backyard. Once they were finished one of the owners pulled into my driveway and demanded half the payment. I asked if they were going to fininsh the job that day and he said yes. I asked why wouldn't I pay at the end of the day when completed and he said because it says so in your contract. I paid him half the amount.

Hi "PC from Mississauga", I can see from both sides the issue at hand. You are completely correct in being inconvenienced by your experience with us. Without knowing the exact details of your particular installation I can not speculate on the price or the reason for missing your installation date. It is also very rare that we are required to hand dig a patio due to access restrictions - normally a project that does cost a little more money to have performed. Also, in regards to the payments, we always take the first half of the balance remaining (minus the deposit) when we begin the installation. Driveway, Walkways, Backyard Patio

I contacted Sure Loc and got an immediate response. After a tedious 6 hour session with the sales rep designing my driveway, walkways, and the backyard patio I gave the go ahead for the $ 17000 job. They showed up promptly and began work at 7am, I had planned it so I would be home all day and could oversee everything. Sure enough some things weren't going as they were designed and yes the owners of the company apparently two brothers had a good reason for everything. The crew is very rude and not open to suggestions even if what they are doing is against the contract drawings. My backyard doors were taken off and were only put back on after it became clear to the owner that he will not be getting his final payment and he made it seem like he was doing ME a favor. As soon as the last payment was made which I was rushed into after the owner gave me a sob story that he just heard some bad news and was in a rush, his crew disappeared with him. Final touches were totally overlooked, plastic wrappings were left all over my front yard I was assured that my neighbor’s front patio would be thoroughly washed as she had complained to me about all the dust that had settled on it, but I had to wash that myself as well as cleaing my front & back yard.

driveway and walkway

The guys were good in coming by but i made a point of standign over them the whole time. from start to finish. I had to ask them to add metal trim to hold back the edge of the bricks...WOW... i had to ask them for a lot of things. they do good work but you HAVE TO BE ON SITE !!!! The work was done , only becauer i kept at them. So far 2 weeks later , so so but i am very picky...they never asked me about the lime stone or sand ....seems you need sand to make less of a mess....

Average.....just average

Hello Anonymous, Good to hear you like the work that you had done. Although the alluminum edging (or metal trim)is not always required when interlocking. I am sure that if it were required in your instance it would have been recommended the sales rep or by the installation crew. INTERLOCKING WALKWAY

Wow, we had the exact same problem as the earlier review. Sales rep came by VERY QUICKLY and then service STOPS DEAD!!! We changed our brick colour several days after sales rep came as we went to the wholesaler to see and decided on another colour - sales rep not much help choosing colour from catalogue. Contacted sales rep immediately and asked him to call back for confirmation that he was in receipt of new brick colour. Finally called back several days later and confirmed. After 4 weeks no show, no phone calls, nothing! I finally called and had to rant and rave at the owner and told him not to bother coming if they were not there by the following Tuesday/Wednesay - this was a Friday. I asked him why no phone calls to let us know what is happening and he said "they are too busy"!!!! That was not a good response, let me assure you, and I told him as much in no uncertain terms - get your order, get your deposit - and we'll show up when we feel like - give me a break!!!! They delivered the bricks on Tuesday - WRONG COLOUR - just lucky I was home as I told the delivery man to take them back - then he tried to explain that they would look great with my home - since when do delivery men become designers????? He just did not want to put them back on the truck. 20 minutes later the crew shows up to dig - good thing I was there because I practically had to design it for them - gave them the salesman's diagram but even then it was iffy. Hello Deb - Oakville, Sounds like you had a poor experience with us. I am very sorry to hear that, however there are a few things I can help clear up. From the sounds of it your installation was in peak season. Unfortunately during April - July there are a lot of people who have to wait 4-6 weeks to get their project done. We do our best to get to the next project in line but just like anyone else we are also battling things such as weather, roadblocks in current installs, etc. As for the incorrect colour of your brick that can happen from time to time as it is shipped directly from the brick manufacturer to the address on the order. This is not something that is done on purpose from either the manufacturer or us, the installer. Also, the &quotDelivery Man&quot is no way associated with us and could have very well been wrong about the colours matching your home, however I don't know his educational background so I can not speculate. Front Walkway

I contacted Sure-Loc to have them give me an estimate for my front walk way. They were prompt to give me a call back. The sales rep came to my home and I picked the brick I wanted and sign the contract. Well, once that contract was signed, the great customer service was over. They didn't call me back to let me know when they were going to do the work. While no one was home, they just showed up and starting ripping up my front walk way and started laying brick. My husband arrived and they demanded a certifed cheque. My husband called me at work to let me know what was happening. When I arrived at my home with the certified cheque, the walk way was almost completed. I noticed that the brick they laid was not the brick I ordered. Well it was too late to change it. I had it with these guys.
After completing the walk way, they left assuring me that they would be back to pick up the debris from my old walk way (which was laying on my front lawn) and the pile of limestone on the road. One week later, the debris and limestone was not removed. I called left numourous messages and they did not return my calls. Another week went by and still no clean up. By then, my neighbours were coming to my door asking when the was going to be clean up. I made my last call to Sure-Loc advising them thay if they did not remove the debris and limestone that I was taking legal action. The next day, they came and took it all away. I will never ever use this company again.

Hello "Unhappy Customer From Mississauga", I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. It is in our best interest and we make every effort to contact the Homeowners to let them know when we are coming. This helps us sort out issues such as Certified cheques, colours, and any last minute questions. In failing in that, we generally prefer the owner to be home so we can discuss any issues that may arise during installation. As for the debris and limestone I do not know why it was not cleaned up sooner. We try to bring all rubble and debris with us when we leave the job site so additional trips to return and clean are avoided. Did you contact your Sales Rep to inform him of the debris not being picked up? I completely agree that one week is unnacceptable for the debris not to be picked up.
