Electrical work - various

We needed some electrical work done at our old house before we moved out and new house when we moved in. Fortunately, neither situation was an emergency but, of course, we wanted it done right. These guys are great. Really, really great. They are very polite, prompt, open/informative, clean (booties over work shoes) and uniformed, and the pricing is up front. We will definitely use them in the future.

Thank you Monica. We appreciate all of your comments. All the things you mentioned (polite, prompt, open/informative, clean, uniformed, up-front pricing) are things we focus on for every customer. We would not expect our clients to accept anything less. Thank you again.

Electrical shorting and blown fuses.

Last night, I came out from a shower to smell wires burning. I found one outlet just outside the kitchen was sparking and smoking, so I ran downstairs and shut the power off. When I removed the outlet, one side of it was melted. The thing is, nothing was plugged into it.

I knew that if the outlet was not connected, we would be okay until the morning where I could have a better look at it.

But, when I put the power back on, half the house went out.
At this point, I was worried. I was was able to get on line and do a Google search under "Electricians/Oshawa" and found the Captain Electric site and read the reviews as well as all the certificates.

Viewing the certificates can really ease a persons mind, and this is the main reason why I chose Captain Electric.

So I called the company at 9:50am today (Saturday) and was asked to leave a messege and that I will be called back within 15 minutes if this was an emergency, and to me, it was.

Dave called back within 10 minutes and I described to him over the phone what our issues were.

I was quoted the price to come out on an emergency call and agreed to the cost.

Dave was at our house within less than 1 hour.

Before any work was done, Dave showed me all his credentials and explained in detail, but in more of layman's term of what is going to happen and confirmed the cost as agreed over the phone.

What Dave did from there was beyond exceptional. Not only did fix a few issues, he explained to me everything that was wrong with the wiring. It was like a step-by-step tutorial that brought everything to light. We've have had "electricians" in before, and never had this much information. They ("electricians") came in, fixed it and left. There were issues with our fuse box that the others should have pointed out and never did, but Dave took the time and consideration to point out these issues. For that, I'm very thankful. Dave also wore "booties" over his shoes, even though I said it was not needed. He kept them on the entire time.

Dave is a very kind gentleman that I feel truly cares about his clients. I likened him to the Mike Holmes of the electrical field. Do it right the first time, and that he did. He represented Captain Electric with flying colours, and this is why I'm writing this review.

I can't express enough of how happy and relived I am that I called Captain Electric and being able to meet and talk with Dave.

I recommend calling this company for any electrical work, and I will be calling on them again to replace a fuse panel to a breaker box.

Thank you Dave! You're a great person and electrician.

And thank you Captain Electric for keeping very high standards and having great staff.

Keith, thank you for the positive review. We believe that it is our responsibility and our duty to inform homeowners of any safety issues with their electrical system. This involves first taking the time to fully assess what the hazards are, and then taking the time to explain things thoroughly and provide any options that might be available. This way the homeowner can make an informed decision to proceed with any repairs. In regards to the reference to Mike Holmes, we see electrical disasters everyday, just like Mike does; and yes, we want to make things right (always do the right thing). Thank you again, and we look forward to being of service in the future.

Partial Main Service Replacement and aluminum wiring rejuvenation

From the first phone call, I could tell I would be happy with this company - and I was right! After unsuccessfully trying to get another electrician to do a report for my insurance company, Bob at Captain Electric arranged to have his team do everything I needed - in a timely manner. Because I was under time constraints, the report I needed was completed within an hour of the electrician's visit and submitted to the insurance company. The required work was done at my convenience. His whole team (from the initial assessment to the final cleanup) were professional, courteous, thorough and a pleasure to have in my home. They showed up exactly when they said they were going to and were finished a large job in one day. I will definitely use Captain Electric in the future and tell everyone I know about them.

Thank you Samantha. It was a pleasure to work for you and to make your home safer for your family. We find that Insurance companies are becoming more serious about electrical systems in their client's homes. We are always happy to assist in corresponding with Insurance companies and doing our part in helping homeowners obtain or maintain their insurance policy intact, and make their home safe from electrical hazards. Please accept my apology for such a late reply and thank you again for posting this positive review.

replace outlets

Had a problem with one of our old outlets, was creating a spark and beginning to burn when other appliances were turned on, on the same circuit.
Captain electric came and replaced the old faulty outlet and checked additional ones. Replaced four of the old outlets to be on the safe side, now have a little peace of mind.
Extremely polite and conscientious.

Electrical Repair

Company's rates are upfront and very reasonable for the work performed. Serviceman (Dave) was very professional and accomodating. Work done in good time and for a good price. Will definitely use them again in the future as they offer additional services that would be useful, especially to a new homebuyer.

needed a esa certificate

needed a esa certificate so we called capt. electric..the service was fantastic from the moment we made the phone call to the moment we received the certificate by e-mail..it was like a flashbact to the 1950's when companies really cared about their customers..you can't go wrong here.

Thank you for the positive comments. We appreciate the reference to the 1950's. [I remember this myself - when full service at a gas station meant checking the oil, topping up fluids, checking tire pressure and cleaning the windows]. I believe every business could learn something by reflecting on this aspect of old fashioned service.

We truly do care about our customers, this is our culture at Captain Electric. My father taught me to "always do the Right Thing." Helping people, serving others, making their life and their home a little better, or a little safer - gives us great satisfaction, especially when it is appreciated by great customers like yourself. Thank you again.
