800sq feet condo painting

i learned about five star from visiting a booth at the home show. the local representative came to my home, free of charge, to provide a quote. sohail was able to see the requested job and provided a price that was near market value. five star beat my other quoted prices by 5%. they also used high-quality paints from sherwin-williams.
the job was scheduled over two days but turned into a five day ordeal. there were many small patches and nicks that were not caught by the painters on their first attempt. instead, i pointed them out and tagged them. this made me feel like i was being picky but i just expected a quality job to my satisfaction. the painters even said "don't expect a high quality job because you are not paying thousands of dollars". i felt this was going against the five star mandate to provide five star quality jobs without five star prices. the entire project took longer than expected and still did not fix all the problem areas. there were areas that were only painted once, so you could see the paint from underneath. the edges of wall to ceiling look wavy and not professionally done, and this is the same for the baseboards. i would spend a little more to get a quality job with a professional.

Approximate cost of services:

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
get quotes from many companies and see pictures of their work. ensure you get an on-site quote and show them the problem areas in advance.

Company Response

We have a very storng committment to having a satisfied customer. We do not take any downopayments and a payment is made only after a job is completed and the customer has made a thorough inspection. Even after we have left, and a customer notices something that he could not have at the time of inspection we have a service call every 2-3 weeks to take care of such problems. There is no way our painter could have left a premises with a payment without the customer making a complete inspection to satisfy himself. We are trying to get in touch with the customer to whom we will offer a service call to take care of any issues that he is unhappy with.

easy to get a quote that was competitive to the market, they beat the price by 5% of other well-known companies. BUT!!!
than it became a battle to get things done. the quality of the job was poor. a two day job became a five day job. it required many messages and touch-ups. it made me feel like i expected alot, even the painter said "don't expect a perfect job you are not paying thousands of dollars". it seems those comments aren't inline with the fivestar mandate. i got the job done, it isn't perfect but well enough to pay. i would consider paying the extra 5% and going elsewhere.

What could this company do to improve their services?
don't out-source the work. the other companies are not aware of the five-star missions and values.
