I found Edward through Craigslist and emailed for an estimate to move my Queen bed, mattress and box spring from my condo in North Etobicoke to my new house near the Junction. I explained that there were stairs at the destination. I was hesitant because I'd never hired anyone this way before.
Edward responded within the hour by email with 2 prices - one price if I helped him and another price (a little less than double) if he had to bring another person to help.
I opted to help him - we arranged a time that was only 2 days away and he provided me with a contact number and would call to confirm an hour beforehand.
Edward arrived on time and called again when he was outside He brought a dolly to transport things along flat surfaces. His truck looks a bit worn on the outside but is clean inside with furniture protection blankets all over the floor.
I'd already disassembled everything and purchased mattress protection bags and he helped me put them on. We loaded everything into his extended van and he followed me to the destination. We had to carry everything up 2 flights of stairs to the bedroom - Edward is a big guy (strong big, not big big) - he could probably carry most things on his own, but needed help to balance and control the mattress and box spring up the stairs.
We were done in just over an hour and it was an easy, smooth transaction that cost about 75% less than if I'd hired a moving company. Edward is careful and personable and gets the job done. I would definitely recommend him.
