stay away

Tried to cancel my service with them after a little over a year due to moving and don't need anymore,purchased all the equipment up front and was told that i still have 2 years in contract,went through all of my emails with Fluent and nowhere does it state anything about a contract,under impression after buying equipment was no contract for financing...stay clear of them...equipment and service is not that good anyways

Save yourself the headache and use a different company

We put our account on hold while we were building our home and have had nothing but issues with them since. They continued to bill after we had called and put the account on hold. (they never sent us any bills. We only found out about this balance when we got a call from collections) They are refusing to clear this balance for us and we have spent several hours on the phone with them trying to get this sorted out only to be told that someone will call us back, which they do not. We have reached out to BBB to help us and Fluent has not responded to them either. They are continuing to bill us and won't put our account on hold until we pay the charges that we never should have had to begin with.

The Worst

Bought a house that had a Fluent system so I decided to take over the contract. Big mistake. System eats batteries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its really exciting to get an email warning from Fluent when it is -30 in Edmonton saying the batteries are failing and your thermostat might shut down soon. Replaced that piece of garbage with a decent Honeywell thermostat that also gives my wifi access. Smoke detectors gave similar warnings of imminent battery failure. Door sensor in the garage has the weirdest battery I have ever seen. Anyway, none of that equaled the hassle of trying to cancel the contract. It took me literally years to do so. I had to pay a full three years for something I no longer wanted. I managed to successfully cancel 3 months ago (I am considering it a success because they stopped taking $43 from my credit card every month. Today I got an email from Fluent Collections saying my account is in arrears and I owe them $ 43. When does it ever end?

Cancelling is a nightmare

Although the service tech who came to our home was great, I wouldn't recommend this company based on how they treat you when you attempt to cancel. Despite being a customer for many years, and the fact that my contract was up, I was treated like garbage on the phone once it was officially determined I was cancelling. I was even hung up on. I was assured I would not be charged again after sending in a written notice of cancellation, so we will see. I would have been a returning customer after cancelling, as we are moving to an acreage. However, now that they've shown their true colours, I will use someone else. I do not recommend this company based on the fact that they will continue to take your money for as long as possible, and they have terrible customer service.

Terrible

Terrible company. Cameras have not worked in 4 years. Called everyone many times management doesn't care. What's the point if the cameras don't work of having a system. Just wants us to sign another contract, the they will fix problem. Wow is all I can say!!!!! Stay away from them seriously!! Tammy Key 4037830661

Do not trust this company

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

If you are looking to send in the letter of cancellation don’t use the address that they provide on their official website. It is not correct. Received a certified letter I spent 10.98 to send back because the they provided the incorrect address. How convenient…..

Overcharged and failed to repay. They have literally told me the cheques in the mail multiple times.
Have made several attempts to contact and given the run around. Have made several requests to cancel service as we are in a month to month contract to no avail. Feeling as if we are being held hostage.

In response to your question about how we can remedy this situation, I have a few suggestions.

You could have someone from the resolution centre return our phone call. We’ve been waiting over a week for a return phone call. You could also update your ridiculous and archaic policies regarding cancellation of your month to month contracts. Another suggestion would be to accept other forms of payment as I don’t trust your company with my credit card number any longer. You will store my card information and continue to charge me a service I do not want when you owe me money for being over charged then threaten to take me to collections. Not sure how to resolve the issue when the company won’t return phone calls….

It is October 19th and we are still held in a month to month contract for a home we sold 60 days ago. I have contacted Fluent approx 7 times and have been told every time that my file has been escalated to a manager but I am still waiting for a phone call…. Literally the longest 3-5 business days of my life. I have repeatedly asked to speak to the resolution centre but it seems as though their system is set up to keep you from gaining a resolution. Every time I call they suggest that I convince the new owners to take over the contract… which is hilarious… like I would ever put another person in such a position.

The saga continues….

Home Security

Oct 12/2017 - A person came to our door selling home security equipment through Fluent by the name of John. On this day my now Ex husband signed a contract until Oct 12/20 for what he was told was 4 outside cameras, doorbell camera, 4 window and 2 door sensors, fire alarm and a monitor control hub for the system. July 2018 - after breakup with Husband contract was moved into clients name as she was the one living in home. Jan 2020 - Called to inform company that renovations were to occur inside the home of client and it was asked if someone would be able to come and move the system and hook everything back up. At the time they asked if client would stay with the company and she explained only if they could get everything up and working the way it was as well as lower price. Feb 13/2020 - Company sent employee out to re-hook equipment back up. When employee was at home of customer he informed client that the cameras that were installed were not from the company and that John the guy who installed them back in Oct 2017 went behind their back to install his own cameras. The employee explained that John who origianlly installed everything back in Oct 2017 had did this several times to customer and no longer was employed with the company. The employee informed that someone would call client to try and solve things and make it work. March 30/2020 - Finally someone called back to ask client to resign a 3 year contract which she said no to and expained to everything that had happened. As of know client is being told she is in another contract to 10/20/23 even though she never officially agreed to any such contract and to get out of said contract is not allowed. April 3/2020 - Called to try and cancel but was informed not allowed again and that a verbal agreement was made. Manager - Tanner from Fluent tried to offer better deals but, client only wanted to get out of contract as she no longer felt safe with this company after everything that had happened during the orginal istall of the equipment.

I feel that knowing that they had a person install cameras that were not their products Fluent should have made contact with the customer at such time to make amends. Instead nothing was brought to my attention until a technician came to re-install all products at such time he informed me that the person who did the origianl install put up cameras as part of the original agreeded to deal that were not with Fluent and could not be reinstalled which was the first time this was brought to my attention. Since this all happened I do not feel safe to be with this company anymore and wish that I be able to payout the rest of my contract owing from the months of March 2020 - Oct 2020. I did not truly agree to a new contract or sign a new contract even though they've told me I'm stuck in a new contract until Oct 12/2023. I feel that this is unjust as they have not practiced good business ethics by looking out for their customer.

You agreed to renew your agreement term, and it wasn't until a service appointment in February that you requested to cancel your services.
