We worked with Aubin at FiveStar Bath Solutions and did a full renovation of our bathroom. His overall quote was in line with others, so we chose him because he was personable and seemed honest.
Aubin overcharged us on some fixtures (which were priced into the contract), so we recommend you buy the materials/fixtures yourself. This was most disappointing as we discussed the cost breakdown twice and included it in writing. Aubin quoted us a $900 bathtub and $479 toilet. Both seemed high but he said we would want a high-quality bathtub that doesn't scratch and that he was giving us a good price for the toilet. We asked him to share the links/models of the fixtures, but he only sent us ones that retailed at half the price and we never found items even close to the quoted price. Based on this, I question what else he misled us on.
Aubin did not oversee the work onsite and missed details, which led to errors. For example, the custom vanity was too long, crowding the toilet, despite us clarifying the length with him several times, and the vanity was too high, which resulted in needing new mirrors, which were then pasted onto the wallnot hung. It was a red flag when the subcontractor came to do some measurements and told us that Aubin had not walked him through the process. We were also rushed unnecessarily for the tile and bathtub selection, yet Aubin didn't even send the toilet option until the night before the reno was supposed to finish.
We noticed many things that required touch-ups so make sure you walk around before the reno is finished. The team onsite was great about coming back to fix the issues. The subcontractor even told us to reach out if any more issues. Unfortunately, we noticed something else and weeks later, Aubin still has not responded. At this rate, we do not expect a response and will have to fix it ourselves.
Also make sure you tent the area. Ours wasnt and a thick layer of dust settled in the surrounding rooms.
On a positive note, the overall bathroom looks good and the job was completed quickly. However, being overcharged on some fixtures left a bad taste.
