We have a 28 year old house with radiant baseboard hot water heat. The boiler had been giving us trouble for a couple years and after 7 or 8 visits from a couple different heating companies, the pump packed it in again. Apparently the boiler was so severely rusted inside that the pump was jammed with sediment. I decided to bite the bullet and have the entire system replaced including the hot water tank. One company quoted us $17000 which I found personally offensive. I called Westmount heating and Mirch was at my house within 30 minutes to take a look. His quote was considerably more affordable and from all the previous reviews on homestars, I knew I could trust his recommendations. Unfortunately for us Mirch could only fit us in 2.5 weeks later but he had electric heaters available to borrow. (Another nod to the quality of Westmount's customer service). When the installation day finally arrived, Mirch and Gord were absolutely fantastic. They only took two days to rip all the old stuff out and reroute our copper water lines, gas lines, vent pipes and install the new hot water tank and condensing boiler. The quality of work is amazing, they took good care to make sure everything looked tidy and tucked away the piping to make our laundry/mechanical room more spacious. Mirch was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain all his work and how everything functions and what to do if there ever was an emergency. I cannot recommend Westmount enough, they are an outstanding company and they really do care about making the customer happy.

Our garage door would only open 1/3 of the way and we were stuck. I called door pro and they sent a technician that day. The service tech Grant told me it was a broken spring and a relatively easy fix. He also recommended changing the other spring as preventative maintenance. He also lubricated the hinges and rails and was out of there in less than 3 hours. I was very happy with their speediness and the service.

We purchased a set of french enclosed blind doors made by Jeld-Wen through lowes. We chose the Jeld-Wen brand through reputation and price. We were quite happy with the quality but did have a string break in one the blinds approx. 2 years later. I contacted Jeld-Wen directly and unfortunately it took 5 months to get the fix. (I was routed to the Winnipeg office but the person who was making my claim left the company without leaving my paperwork and I had to make repeated attempts to get my claim processed, which at that point they realized I lived in BC and had me deal with the BC office) Once I got in contact with the BC branch, they were very easy to deal with and had a technician come replace the blind unit very quickly and without charge. The technician was very friendly and professional.

We ordered a window for our bathroom from Long Life. On the advice of Blaine, we ordered the upgrade VinylTek. Ours was a small order (single window) but we were treated very nicely and the quality of the window is excellent. They did have some issues due to arch shape of our window so there was about a month delay but that was on VinylTek's side and not Long Life. Blaine even dropped it off at our place free of charge!

From the biggest order to the smallest, we aim to bring the same Long Life standard to each job. I'm very sorry to hear that there was some trouble with production time, and we strive to stay in close contact with our suppliers. Thank you again for your business, and the kind words about your experience with Blaine's service.

My wife and I decided to renovate our ensuite and went to homestars to get recommendations. We picked 6 companies to get quotes from and Paul was one of them. His company was not the most expensive neither the cheapest but we made our decision based on his review history and after meeting him in person. I don't think we could have made a better choice and I cannot recommend him enough! Any type of renovation can be a very stressful situation but working with Paul was a real breeze. He was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and very very skilled. This being our first real renovation, he answered all of our many questions & steered us towards suppliers that had quality yet good value. He has a very fine eye to detail and always made sure the job site was cleaned up after each day. (A very important point with two small kids at home) Our bathroom being older had quite a few quirks (outside window in the shower wall, stairwell underneath the cabinet) but Paul's creativity and skill was very apparent in his work. He was able to turn a floating cabinet into a real work of art to hide the stairwell poking through the floor. He also replaced the window and trimmed it beautifully. His advice and recommendations saved us both time and money, as many people know how both of these can easily spiral out of control. I was also impressed that he did all the work himself instead of sub-contracting them out. It was very apparent he really cared about his quality of work and making sure we were happy with it as well. Thanks again Paul!

After reading the multitude of good reviews on homestars I called Greg at Crucial Roof and had him check out a leak on our concrete tile roof. He was at our home that very afternoon checking everything out. He was extremely informative, friendly and I learned alot about my roof. He recommend several fixes and general maintence items that would prevent future leaks. Two days later he had replaced the skylights, fixed the furance stack, replaced two roof vents and cleaned and fixed the pan flashing around my skylights. All this was completed in less than a 1/2 day and he answered a barrage of questions from me. The price was very reasonable considering how much was done. I would not hesitate to recommend him!! Thanks Alex. I can't say every customer of mine gets their job done as quickly as you got yours (2 days!) but it sure is nice when it happens. Great choice on the skylight upgrade too. You will enjoy those Velux units for many years to come. Cheers
