    Bat protection

The service was not very professional, and left me cleaning up the mess more than 1/2 a year later. The individual who came out refused to inspect the attic for any bat presence (which is what scared me the most, having little kids at home. The mesh installed was not removed a week later, like promised. And worst of all - the caulking used by this person is still found in lumps hanging off of my exterior brick walls, on my landscape rocks, on windows and more. I regret paying this company this kind of money at the end of the day. Should have called around first.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Julie, Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. I am deeply concerned that you are not at all happy with our service as this is not characteristic of my company. Being committed to total customer satisfaction, a call to my office would have given us the opportunity to solve the situation prior to now, 7 months later. To immediately address your concerns I would personally like to come to your house and correct the situation to your satisfaction. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Pest and Animal Control

We saw a review of Gates Wildlife Control that mentioned that their home had cedar shingles. Our home has cedar shingles. We had been trying to get rid of squirrels whom had chewed their way through our shingles at the corner and was nesting in our roof for several weeks last spring. Gates' service both on the phone and in person was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They even recognized the address and said they had been to our house when the previous owners had squirrel issues. the previous summer we had had some work done to the sofits and eaves. The people doing the work had removed all the protection that had previously put in place to stop the squirrels from entering. Gates visited our property and performed a complete inspection before providing us with an estimate to solve the problem. In the end a oneway trap was installed and all other possible entry points were sealed. Gates returned the following week and the oneway trap door was removed and we haven't had any squirrels since.

Hi Sheryle, thank you for your excellent review of my company. We do come across situations where homeowners replace eavestroughs or shingles and in the process previously installed protective screening is removed. Therefore, in time the animals will discover the openings and get back in. Thank you for allowing us to humanely solve your wildlife problem. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Squirrel in root

Service guy was courteous and quick in dealing with our problem (a pregnant squirrel that had chewed through a roof vent). He covered up our vents with metal grilles and used some sort of spray that was supposed to deter the squirrel. This turned out to be inadequate, as the squirrel came back and, even though it couldn't gain access, proceeded to chew the vent (through the grill) until it was seriously damaged. That was disappointing, but the company came back and fixed the problem (with bigger grills) free of charge. They also gave us cute raccoon keychains for our kids.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Mathew, it is a rare case that a squirrel is as persistent as the one you described. We always stand behind our initial quote particularily because of the occasional, unpredictable nature of animals. Thank you for taking the time to review my company. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Pigeons and squirrels in roof

Prompt and friendly service. We have a high, steep roof with difficult access, but he did a great job with no complaints. He installed mesh over the pigeon roost entrance, and one-way doors for the squirrels. After a few days, we didn't have animal troubles any more.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Craig, thank you for your great review. All of our technicians are fully health and safety trained, with particular attention paid to fall protection. Therefore working safely at heights and on steep roofs is something that we are accustomed to. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Bird nest removal

Downtown Toronto. Had a nest hanging out of a hole in fascia of roof. Justin fixed this problem and put in the low cost test for wildlife in three other holes in my roofing, and assessed all my eavestroughs & roofing with specific recommendations for a roofer. Very courteous, great communication, he arrived earlier than the schedule appointment and was done on time (office estimate 1 hour). The office was great too, making the appointment was a breeze and they called me the day before to confirm so I didn't have to worry about a no show. Following the assessment, the work that I agreed to was done on the spot (no pressure for a more expensive solution, just explanation of pros & cons), and I paid with a credit card right there. All around excellent job and experience!

    Raccoon removal

Hello, this summer I had a raccoon living in my attic for a few months, I named him Jerry. I thought he was a boy and would leave once the weather got warmer but Jerry happened to be a her, and had babies. Your service man came and removed the family from my attic and covered all the holes that they could have came through. I was worried about now Jenny that she would be harmed or hurt through the process but I was quickly talked to about all the steps you guys take to safely and gently remove animals from a property. Thank you very much! :)

    Answer from pro:

Hi Anna, thank you for your review and your concern about removing "Jenny" humanely. Having grown up with a keen interest in urban wildlife, I have developed humane removal methods, which are ensuring that the animal's well-being is paramount. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in the wildlife removal industry. Thank you for hiring my company. Brad Gates, Owner / President

    Squirrels in attic

Recently we had an incident in which squirrels invaded our attic through the roof. The noise was terrible as they chewed and tore their way in, ,,We saw your truck on a nearby street, asked for a card, and called your office. Gates' responded to our request for help and soon our problem was resolved, quickly, efficently and kindly. A delightful young man, Boris, took over, attended to the eviction and repaired the roof. He also checked the whole roof and reported to us that there were no other signs of invasion. We were most pleased with the results and have recommended Gates' to our neighbors who asked about seeing your truck in our driveway.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for taking the time to write such a fabulous review of my company and particularly my technician Boris. It always pleases me to hear our customers give praise to one of my technicians. I will pass on your kind words to Boris. Brad Gates, Owner / President

    Racoon removal

Sherry Fraser What separates Gates Wildlife Control from other “Pest Control” companies is that once the mother has been removed from the attic and the entry hole sealed, she is released. The raccoon babies are them placed in a heated box outside the owner’s home to allow the mother to come back to retrieve her babies. Raccoons have multiple dens in residential areas; therefore, they just move on.....family intact. Since the raccoon’s primary entrance hole has been sealed, and any alternate entry sites reinforced, raccoons stay away and the homeowner is satisfied. 16 hours ago · Edited · Like

    Red Squirrel problem

We had a problem with a red squirrel that had decided to make our attic it's home. A friend recommended Gates Wildlife, and I'm glad I called them. Chris, the tech sent to deal with the issue was a pleasure to deal with. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. We live in a semi-detached - he even took the time to inspect my neighbors side as well. When the sqirrel returned and was trying to create a new access point at another location (these reds are tenacious little varmints), all it took was one call to Gates and Chris returned to deal with the problem, no additional fees. Outstanding company - from the receptionist on up, everyone I dealt with was great. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Corey, your praise of my company and Chris is greatly appreciated. I made it a point to read your review to my staff in our morning meeting. Hopefully the red squirrels will not make further attempts to gain entry but if they do we are just a call away. Brad Gates, Owner / President
