    Plumbing protection plan

I signed up for their plumbing protection plan. When I actually had a leak they said the earliest they could send someone out was 2 weeks. Clearly, I was not going to wait that long to fix a leak and had to call a plumber to come right away. I think that would be okay except after calling customer service to cancel my plan with them which I felt was not useful if I had to wait 2 weeks for a leak I was met with them stating I signed a contract for a year. I guess the contract only matters to them when it comes to having to pay them for a year. I asked the manager if there was something they could do about charging me an entire year because I had to pay a plumber. His response was "I didn't tell you to call a plumber." I told him to send me the bill and his response was "good luck with that." Save yourself the headache and just call a plumber that will come right away instead of paying Enercare monthly.

Great customer service and knowledge tech that took the time to explain what he was doing. I was able to get an appointment early the next day.

    Never rent from Enercare!

NEVER RENT FROM ENERCARE! We had to renovate our basement because of leaks and decided to upgrade to an on demand heater because of space. I called in to Enercare to ask about my contract and I was told that if I I had a rental I could cancel at any time. I logged into my account to try and find any sort of indication of the contract period and it was not mentioned anywhere. I went ahead with the on demand purchase and installation. When I called to have it cancelled, I was told I had to pay the buyout fee of double the cost of a brand new hot water tank because I had a contract I entered into 3 years ago. They do not have the terms and conditions anywhere on my account and when I asked for a copy of it they said "we are upgrading our website" so there is not way to provide it to you. I now have to pay $1,750 to purchase something I don't need and is not even worth a fraction of that. I would have never gone ahead with the purchase of new equipment if I was not told there was no contract and I could cancel anytime by a Enercare representative. The customer service person told me confidently that I could cancel with no penalty at any time! I would not recommend anyone to ever rent any equipment from Enercare as their break fee is double the actual original cost after paying for 3 years.

    Cancellation Process

i called in to cancel the water heater rental that came with the property i bought, the process was painful and was dragged out over multiple months which extended my rental by those months for an extra of approx. $160 in rental fees. The buy out for a 7 year old water heater was still $1153. i understand their business model is setup to provide a service, but that's a service I'm not interested in, could they at least make it less painful to get out of !

    AC annual inspection, clean-up

The service was part of an annual maintenance contract which I've terminated because of value for money not justified for me. The service this month was close to perfect as opposed of the last year check-up.

    Unable to Buy Out Contract

I wanted to buy out our Enercare hot water heater contract. I'm not sure why we got involved with them in the first place, but that's beside the point. (Side note: it was not worth the money.) After 40 minutes on hold and several transfers, the representative used a bunch of "scare tactics" about the consequences of canceling my contract. They then offered me a 3-month free credit, followed by a 6-month free credit to try and get me to stay. Despite repeatedly stating that I just wanted to buy out the contract, they put me on hold again (a classic stalling tactic). When they finally returned, they said the buyout invoice would appear in the next 1-2 billing cycles, and they would continue to bill me monthly for the rental. Being able to buy it out immediately would save me $80, so I insisted on buying it out TODAY. Finally, they agreed and said it would appear on my bill in 1 to 2 business days. This company is awfulif my mother or grandmother had to deal with them, they would have never been able to achieve the same outcome.
