Relocated laundry room and installed machines

I was extremely impressed with the team leader John Samcoe and his crew from Enercare. It was complicated relocating my laundry room to a new area of the house but they were quick, professional and the job was done skillfully and expertly. They went above and beyond by cleaning up some of the existing wiring and adding support to some of the plumbing. Their licensed technicians, Niel, Bryan, Jordan and Alex, took the time to explain things to me and made me feel at ease knowing this was being done properly. I strongly recommend Enercare.

    Water heater replacement

Recently had to replace my rented water heater due to home insurance requirements. The whole experience was non-stressful. The inspector and technician were both pleasant professional and good workers. It was easy to arrange appointments that suited my schedule and everything was done as scheduled with no problem.

    Furnace Service Plan

After several years as an Enercare customer on their full home service plan, I needed to replace my furnace. I tried to cancel the monthly care plan, as I have a full warranty on the new furnace. Enercare refused to cancel the plan, and insist I have to pay another 10 months @$50/mo for a service I don't need. This company has the worst customer service I've ever encountered.

    Answer from pro:

Hi there - Similar to any contract, there are buyout fees associated with opting out of your plan early. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of your contract for more information.

    Poor Customer Service

We had our maintenance appointment for our furnace and AC on September 3, 2016. The technician who came is courteous and nice but he tagged our furnace for two violations (use of street elbow and front clearance to wall is less than 24 inches. I have no issues with the tagging but would have appreciated if I will be given a quote for the work that needs to be done. I had to escalate to Enercare supervisor and call several times for a quote as again Enercare would like to charge me a $129 dollars for a quote. Another technician again came by to validate the violations but he is unable to give me a quote that day (Sep 9). A total waste of my time as I had to take a half day leave at work to be at home. I was promised a quote but I did not receive one as of this writing (Sep 14). I did receive an Enercare HomeCare Report on Sep 10 telling me that my furnace is 17 years old. I told both technicians that it is was installed in 2010. A few issues here: 1. Enercare will tag but will not give a quote/ charge for the quote - ineffiency. 2. Enercare technician is unable to do a quote during the time the tag was issued - downtime. 3. Enercare is initially charging to give a quote - poor customer service. 4. Several calls/escalation and no quote yet. 5. No report was given on the 12 point inspection - nothing at all (from first technician who did the maintenance for our furnace and AC). 6. Last but not the least. I also had my maintenance plan with Enercare in 2011 (same furnace). At that time a tag was also issued (which we addressed) but the recent two new violations was not identified at that time. I paid Enercare about $1,000 to fix that issue. Why were the two new tags not identified prior? 7. I also answered their survey week of Sep 12 and requested to be contacted - no response by phone or email as of this writing.

Worst customer service experience I have ever had

I will preface this by saying I have never taken the time to write a review before. I recently have bought out my in laws in the home that we all live still live in. On Friday September 17th/2016 I called Enbridge to cancel my hot water tank service, I was informed I had to call Enercare, which I did. I spoke with an agent who informed me I was not on file and could not make any changes to the account. I had no issue with this as it is company policy, my mother in law took the time and provided all the necessary information on the file to allow me to continue with the phone call. The agent was very professional on the phone and did a great job in trying to keep the service, however I confirmed that we were cancelling the service and buying out the water heater. The process continued and the agent informed me of the price to buy out the heater as well as notifying me that I would be receiving a phone call re-confirming that I would be buying out and cancelling the service. I thanked the agent for her time and awaited my phone call. On Sunday September 18th I received a call at 12:00,with a reference number, however my newborn son was in surgery. I called back at 1745 hours and spoke with Lisa. Lisa was a treat..... She informed me that I would not be able to cancel the service as I was not on file. I explained the previous day's conversation with Lisa and asked her why she had called my phone number and refernced a cancellation of the service if I was not on the list. Lisa would not budge. Good for her (insert sarcasm). I asked to speak with her supervisor as this whole process seemed redundant and quite frankly unprofessional. Justin answered moments later and did not allow me a chance to speak, merely informed me again of the process, which I was familiar with as I had the conversation the day before to get access to the account to cancel the service, buy the talk out, etc. Justin finally allowed me to speak and I again reiterated the whole story from the previous day. Again if I was not authorized to cancel the service and buy out the tank than why was everything processed the day before and why was I being sent the cancellation reconfirmation phone call? Justin would not budge. Good for him (insert sarcasm). I finally had to go and wake up my mother in law who might I add is quite sick. She AGAIN confirmed that I was authorized to make all decisions on the account. Justin was then able to continue with the cancellation and buy out. Covering your butt is one thing, but putting customers through this type of nonsense is pathetic. i went through the hassle the first day with no issue. The phone call today was a reconfirmation of the previous day's conversation. I was not cashing out a life insurance policy nor buying a car. Yesterday's discussion with both my mother in law and myself should have been enough to cancel the service to begin with, but today was totally unacceptable. When I asked to speak with Justin's supervisor he informed me that "Enercare" was his supervisor and that any complaints could be directed through email. I sincerely hope that no one has to deal with Justin or this company if they don't have to.

    Extended warranty for furnace

We have been long time customers of enercare (direct energy). They usually come out within 24 hrs to fix any issues at our home. Today our furnace needed some parts repaired and Peter Bhatti was the tech sent out to our home. He was kind, personable, took the time to explain things to me. Was a perfect, seamless appointment. Thank you Peter!!!

Terrible Customer Service would never recommend

Absolutely awful experience with Enercare to say the least!! Recently, our business purchased a new building where the previous owner had a contract with Enercare for a rented hot water tank. The sale of the building closed over a year ago and we have been paying our rental fees since then. During construction in our new building, our contractor requested we get a new hot water tank to properly service the needs of our new business as the current one would not do so efficiently. After getting our current Enercare hot water tank appraised and looking into the pricing of new hot water tanks, it was substantially cheaper to purchase our own rather than continue to rent from Enercare. At this point we opted for a buy out from our contract from Enercare, and not only was our buy out price extremely inflated from Encare on what the machine was valued but it has taken over a month to speak with a supervisor and over 10 phone messages of continuous efforts to try to resolve our current issue. After going through the buy out pricing with Enercare employees, they would not provide myself with a break down as to why the cost is over 3 times its accessed value. The Enercare employees would just state "it just is". As many others have stated, I feel slighted as an Enercare customer and that I am being taken advantage of. Their EXTREMELY poor and rude customer service to say the least, my calls continuously getting forwarded from person to person for now going over a month, shady business and lack of transparency are a few reasons I would not recommend Enercare to you.

    Furnace and AC Maintenance

The company representative who performed the maintenance on bothe my furnace and AC unit did an excellent job. He was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. He performed his job meticulously and explained everything he did in understandable language. I was really impressed by his service since I have had other experiences with other technicians (not from Enercare) who did not do the job the way he did.

Not there for me when I needed them

My rental hot water heater stopped working on a Sunday afternoon. The only reason I pay $26/month for a rental heater is so that I don't have any repair hassles when issues arise. Enercare computer systems were down when I called so they could not process my call or set up a repair time. I was promised a call back but it's now after 9:00 pm on Sunday night and nothing. No one in the house is looking forward to starting the week with cold showers! The rental fee is a complete rip off when customers are not able to receive service when needed. Avoid doing business with this company.
