Lawncare Service
We signed on with the company through door to door solicitor. In the contract we had 5 visits that included a free aeration and soil conditioner. We signed on because they said we could pay per visit and still get the reduced quoted price. We only wanted the service for the weed spraying (we did our own seeding and fertilizing) but they would not do it alone. They said the fertilizing would promote strong root growth and the over seeding would make the lawn thicker to choke out the weeds. We agreed to give it a try. It was late May before anyone came out for the aeration and over seeding after placing several calls which took 3-4 days to return. We hardly noticed any seed in the sparse areas but watered as instructed. We received a bill for this service and so I had to call the office to remind them that my aeration was supposed to be free. The grass did fill in thicker in some areas that had no grass before but the other needed areas remained bare. The weeds kept growing. Our first fertilizing came the end of May. We continued watering and the weeds increased. The beginning of june we had another visit for a fertilizer but still no weed spray. The tech noted on his report that we needed seeding done. Even he couldn't tell that it was done just a few weeks prior. Finally the beginning of July we had another fertilizer and weed spray was done. (20 minutes after the weed spray was done it rained - and you aren't supposed to water for 24 hours) Needless to say that spray did nothing to kill the weeds. I called the office again and was told to wait to wait until after the second weed spray was done to see if it helped. The Fourth visit was mid July for another weed spray and 10 days after that we noticed no difference. During that time a salesman came to the door to solicit our business (he was from Dr. Green) I let him explain how our lawn could look much better with their services. That it needed over seeding (and aeration) and fertilizing. Along with this they would do a weed control because we had many weeds. I told him at that point that we were using his company. He was surprised given the condition of our lawn. He told me to call the office that their service was guaranteed. I called the office and told them what had taken place and about no change in the weeds after the second spray. Good to their word they did another weed spray at no charge but it didn't do anything. They also said they would redo the aeration and over seeding at no charge but it would have to be done at the end of the summer because it was too hot. It was also noted on one of the visits that we needed a soil conditioner. Again I had to call the office to request this to be done and explain it was supposed to part of our service. Our final and fifth visit was done the beginning of september along with our soil conditioner. I called the office again to find out when our aeration and over seeding was going to be done again. We received a call the end of September but no one showed up on the scheduled day. An email was sent informing us the tech was sick and would come the next day but we didn't see this email until it was too late. We didn't leave the gate open so when the tech showed up the next day he didn't have access to the back yard. We were home that day (2 cars were in the driveway) but did not know someone had come until they were driving away. No one rang the bell to say they needed access to the back yard and when we went out to inspect the lawn there were no dirt plugs on the lawn as is normal for aeration and we saw no evidence of any grass seed. The bill was in the door (no charge of course) saying they had completed the redo of the over seeding and aeration. I called the office once again to inquire what was done and was informed that their tech reported servicing our entire property. I asked how could our entire property be serviced if our gate to the back yard was locked and also explained that I didn't see any seed or dirt plugs on the front lawn. The service rep then became very defensive and hostile. I was then accused of saying the tech was not honest on his report when I was in fact, only asking questions and providing information based on our observations. She then rudely demanded to know why I was calling 2 weeks later (it was one week and a day from our last service) when there was no way they could prove anything was done. She told me she would send someone out to check our lawn but I told he there was no point. It was too late in the season to do anything and that I wanted to inquire about a refund for the over seeding that was never done correctly. The rep rudely snapped that they don't get refunds, to which I responded that i would like to speak to a supervisor. She said fine and hung up on me. I sent an email requesting a supervisor to call but I have not received a call from anyone to date, I did however receive a quote in the mail for next year. I can honestly say I will not use the services of Dr. Green again.
