    Water Tank

Had them installed a hot water tank years ago. Turn out they installed non-certified tank and works not done up to the code. Terrible and dangerous as I got red tags from Enbridge. Called twice and sent them emails with no reply. None. Don't deal with the middle man with unlicensed tech. You be warned.

    Answer from pro:

Hi There, unfortunately. we have no record of your installation. We do not install non-certified tanks as they do not exist. All of our technicians are licensed and certified.

Carrier AC and Furnace Installation and Warranty service

Purchased top of line carrier infinity furnace, AC and touch pad thermostats. In a nutshell you will likely be ok unless you require any kind of warranty service. It took 5 visits, property damage and 22hrs of my life and I still have to wait till next cooling season to see if the problem is finally fixed. SALES: salesperson, Mario, was knowledgeable. Price was good. However, he failed to mention that the AC evaporator coil is not by carrier. Should I have known I would have asked for one. INSTALLATION: was good and efficient. However oil stains were left on my driveway, probably leaked from old AC refrigerant liquid that was left to drain on the driveway. Didn't care then since driveway was to be replaced. WARRANTY SERVICE: horrible by all measures. Incompetent diagnostics and customer service. Since office in Markham, service calls in Mississauga are only on Saturdays. Every visit is given 3 hrs window. Tech would normally either not show up at all or come after the service window. Here is my terrible service experience, End of June: system error due to POSSIBLE FROZEN COIL. A technician named Jimmy came and said that was due to possible leak. He tightened a screw and recharged system. Subsequent to visit AC started to lockout for 4 hrs at a time due to 84-HIGH PRESSURE LOCKOUT 4 HOURS Mid July: a tech came who seemed to be more knowledgeable. He indicated the error was caused by a bad coil which had to be ordered and that It will take only 1.5h to replace. He balanced the over charged system caused by the other tech as an interim fix. The frozen coil message and even low pressure messages started doing again in hot summer day. August: another 3 hours window. The tech came and mentioned he was given the wrong coil and another appointment had to be scheduled! Sept: a weekday appoint was finally given this time from 2-5 pm. I waited for tech till 6:30 and no one showed up. Not even a phone call. I actually got concerned And called the office at 4:30 and was told to wait since tech is just stuck in traffic. Sep: another Saturday appointment from 10-1. Jimmy the tech showed up at 2:30pm! It took till 6pm to replace the coil. This is when I discovered the coil was not by carrier. My new driveway was left with 4 large oil stains in different location. The replacement was not as neat as the original install and the furnace duct was just wrapped with foil tape. It took 5 visits, property damage and 22hrs of my life and I still have to wait till next cooling season to see if the error disappears or not

    Heater/AirCon/Filter

Highly recommend High Life and their services. I have been dealing with Mark Yeung (Manager) and he has been very helpful through the whole way. After 10 e-mails with questions I was confident in his team and have the Heater/Conditioning/Air filter installed. The tech showed up at 10am till 7pm and did a professional job. Very nice and helpful along the way. The price is competitive and service is fantastic. I have already recommended them to one of my friends and will continue to do it in the future!

    Air conditioner

Bought a new unit and had issues day one. Their technician came to fix twice but no use. It's been 2 Years and my AC is still not working. When I called them again, they are asking me money. Please please never buy anything from these guys.

    Answer from pro:

Our records show that this customer has had some parts replaced since it was installed 4 summers ago. This year our staff recommended a tune up of the unit to maintain the efficiency of the unit. Which unfortunately is not covered under warranty. The customer would like this service for free and believes that it is covered under warranty. He has also called the manufacturer to verify and has received the same answer. Unfortunately, tune ups and unit maintenance checks are not covered by any manufacturer and this service falls outside of the standard manufacturers warranty. The only way that they are covered is if the customer purchases a maintenance plan. As per our recommendation, regular maintenance should be performed regularly to maintain the efficiency of the unit and to increase the units lifespan.

    New furnace and AC System

I was looking to replacing my old furnace and AC system and, at the National Home Show, Mark Yeung gave me a very reasonable quote on a full Carrier Infinity system, including a basic filter, an Aprilaire humidifier and a hi-tech proprietary wireless Carrier thermostat, which allows remote control of the system from anywhere at any time, and more. Mark explained me all the available rebates and the specials from High Life. I called him a few days later, the quote did not change after he visited the site, and the next day the installation crew showed up as discussed, right on time. The two technicians, Sean and Kia were very professional, friendly and ready to explain any question I had. They also protected the floor and left the place clean and without the smallest scratch or damage. At the end they explained me the functioning of the thermostat and tested the system. In addition, Mark applied for the OPA and Carrier rebates on my behalf and did register the system for the Carrier warranty. Reading the previous reviews I was a bit apprehensive of doing business with High Life. However they fully met my expectations and more, so I highly recommend them to anyone interested.

    Air Conditioning

Existing furnace warrant tracker I did my home work two years ago but still can’t avoid catching in deception trap. When we signed contract with High Life, they promised take over existing furnace warrant and write it down. In fact, we bought this new built house almost one year, they actually warrant the furnace means only one month left. Special air conditioning install time is coming summer. When we call customer services about noise, told us warrant time expired long time ago. Only one month “summer furnace” warrant which is a ridiculous promise.

    Air Conditioner

Our conditioner broke down twice in 4 years. They refused to honour the labour warranty. They claimed that we did not service our air conditioner! The receptionist also hung up on me! I had it repaired by a more professional company.

    Installing a hot water tank

Got a quote to install a propane power vent water heater for $1330. Paid $150 as deposit. Three days later they told me that I had to pay an extra $300 for the same product and service. Gave me two options only: either pay the extrea $300 or refund me the deposit.

    Answer from pro:

Unfortunately we were unable to proceed with the installation of the customers water heater. The customer attempted to mislead our staff into selling him a product below our cost by not giving us all the pertinent information. We had to cancel this job as soon as we found out he was misleading our staff. He also attempted to threaten us by saying that he would write poor reviews of our company unless we complied with his demands. Upon cancellation of the invoice, the customer attempted the same ploy at our mississauga location for which he was denied again.

    New Carrier AC

They came recommend by our neighbours. Prices were about average...not high, but not cheaper than other comparable quotes we got either. Came and installed everything in one day. A bit disappointed that the AC wasn't as powerful as we thought. Our second floor still get quite hot during a hot day with the AC on full blast.

    Furnace

Recommended by a family member for their competitive price and fast response service. No heat situation is not a joke with windchill of -25C. Got our furnace replaced the same day we placed the order. Very satisfied with their service, and their technicians were courteous and friendly. Will definitely recommend them to friends and family.
