    New Furnace, AC, ductwork

Just moved into an old house downtown needed to have the entire house gutted. New HVAC system, Kitchen, appliances the works. Other reviews to come. Was referred by a co-worker and dealt with their Sales manager at High Life. Had our entire system changed. The old house was a boiler system so I needed ductwork put in. At the end of the day, had new ductwork, furnace, a/c, humidifier installed. The whole experience was great. Sales was professional and knowledgeable. Installation staff was punctual, professional and cleaned up after themselves. I have already recommended them to my new neighbours

    New AC installation

My friend referred HighLife to us as he said they provided satisfied services to him. So we contacted High Life and asked for quote, it came back cheaper than we've expected with longer warranty period. They were able to arrange the installation appointment in 2 days, took about 6 hours from leveling the foundation of the AC where it sat, to drilling a hole through the wall, to connect the copper pipe in the basement and connecting the whole piece completely. They have advised us which type and size of AC we needed, my wife and I are quite satisfied with their service and professionalism. Will recommend to others

    Furnace installation/annual maintenance

Replaced a new furnace a few years ago. The installation went smoothly, and the technician was very knowledgeable. After that, it requires you to have them doing annual maintenance in order to have their 10 year warranty. It does make sense. And the annual service is also good, cost a little over 100 bucks.

    Air Conditioner Install (2007)

I found this company at the Home Show a few years ago. I needed air conditioning in my new home and after meeting many companies and talking to their sales reps, High Life seemed really good. I was a bit worried: their price seemed too good to be true for a Carrier high efficiency 1.5 ton unit that was 13 Seer (really good at the time) w/ the original coil. They installed and did a very clean and meticulous job. Everything was as they said it was and they were helpful, polite, professional.... it is about 5 years later and the unit still works like a charm without a problem in mechanical or installation. Definitely recommend.

    A/C coil replacement

    1. EXCELLENT Field Service: Very competent technician, friendly, knew his stuff, got the job done right the first time. 2. BAD Head Office customer service: - Delayed delivery appointment without notice. I wasted my time-off from work. - They did not verify the special-order part after receiving it from the supplier in the US. The shipment sat in their office for more than a week. The technician and I watched their delivery truck unload the shipment at my home, only to find out it was the wrong part!! I had to take additional time-off from work for the re-shipment and installation of the correct part. - The Head Office did not offer any apology for the above problems. It was so matter-of-fact. It almost felt like everything was my own fault.

    Replacement of Furnace

I had John Yung come in to provide his assessment and the cost of the job that needed to get done. He was extremely professional and was knowledgeable at the task at hand. He also ensured that I got the best price and all the rebates that I was entitled to from both the province and Carrier. I shopped around several HVAC providers and High Life definitely provided me with the best price and service!

AC, furnace and water heater install

We came across High Life upon recommendation from a family member who also used them and were happy with their work. We were happy to find that among all the companies we got quotes from, Highlife was one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, period. The work was completed on time as promised and they put down drop sheets to protect the floors. I would give them a 5 if not for two call-backs. One for a slight leak in the furnace drain hose that we discovered the day of the install (which they came right away to repair) and one for the malfunctioning water heater....I know that sounds like a big problem but the guys there are easy to reach and you do get the sense from them that they want to remedy the problem right away. This good service and good pricing definitely warrant a 4/5 in my books.

    New Air Conditioner Install

Met Justin of High Life at the home show and was educated on the spectrum of units they sold. I shopped around and felt Justin's approach was the most informative (although the other HVAC companies were just as informative, they seemed to keep up selling us on their more expensive units without even asking what our needs were). I booked a free consult/house inspection with Justin and found him to be helpful answering some of my questions. Biggest question I asked was why other companies told me to get a 3 ton system for my 2300 sq.ft. 3 floor townhouse while he suggested to get a 2 ton. He explained in detail why a 2 ton system (which is cheaper) would work better for my specific house, and to be honest, I was concerned about the power output of a smaller unit. I found their quotation competitive and decided to go ahead with their services. The installers were on-time and done in a timely manner. They left no clean-up mess and went through the install with me. Justin even showed up after the install was done to make sure everything went well. After using the A/C for the past 2 months, my concern about the 2 ton unit over the 3 ton has been erased. The cold air distributes relatively evenly on the first 2 floors (1 degree colder on the 1st floor vs 2nd), and fairly on the 3rd (2.5 degree difference from 1st floor to 3rd floor) floor - something Justin mentioned will occur in a 3 floor house. I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of the unit, knowledge of Justin and the installers, and the overall experience. Highly recommended.

New Furnace, A/C, Tankless Water Heater

We were initially referred to this company by family. They have done great work for them. Initially, we were very satisfied with the price and the salesman, Edward. All of the products installed works well and there are no problems. We got a Carrier Infinity Furnace and A/C and a Rinnai Tankless Water Heater. The furnace and a/c are highly energy efficient, quiet, and powerful. Also, there are no problems with the tankless and we enjoy unlimited amounts of hot water. Unfortunately, the contractors installing the equipment were sloppy, lazy, and messy causing damage our home. They drilled several holes into the wall to find the "right" place and did a sloppy job mudding and caulking around the holes they used for venting. 6 months later, the mud and caulk are already starting to crack. There were fingers wiped on the wall, and finger prints in the mud and caulk. Some holes to the outside were left unfilled completely. At one point, the contractor drilled through the wall at the level of our hardwood floors, damaging our floor. After the job was complete, I received a phone call from one of the contractors claiming that I had thrown out the "sticker" on the water heater rental they were replacing because he could not find it. I stayed with him on the phone as I searched through the house but I found him to be rude and impatient. He said that they would not be able to return rental until unless we had the sticker or else I would have to pay fees. The next day, he called and said he found it in his truck, not offering an apology for his mistake and for the stress he caused. We had this work installed at the end of December and it was only recently that I discovered the aesthetic problems. After contacting High Life, we got a mere apology for the sloppy work. When I asked for follow up and for the problems to be fixed twice in the last month and have yet to receive a response. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt before posting a review but I doubt I will get any response. I guess overall their products are good and I would recommend them to others. However, you have to make sure to keep an eye on the contractors doing the install. \ We bought a new furnace, A/C and tankless water heater to increase the value of our home. The aesthetic damages they caused decrease the value of our home.

Freon refill for home air conditioner

Called High Life and was able to get an appointment the next day. Repairman was on time and very professional. The job was done in about 20 minutes and the quoted cost included materials as well as labor. Pleasant experience and would definitely use them again.
