    Furnace repair

Our furnace had gone on the fritz and wasn't blowing hot air. I contacted Laird and Son based on a recommendation from a neighbour and the reviews on Homestars. The Technician that came to check the furnace was excellent. He was on time, very polite and personable. He was able to diagnose the problem, explain causes and solutions and make suggestions on preventive actions for the future. I would highly recommend Laird and Son.

    pressure test on puluse furnace

After Direct Energy red-tagged my furnace saying the co emissions were too high (more than 1,ooo ppm) Laird and Son came to offer me a second opinion:: they checked the heat exhanger and the pressure was fine, and the ppm was only 16. This second test saved me from buying a new furnace before its time. If you;re ever in doubt, call the gas company and they will conduct the test free of charge. Don't every buy a major appliance based on fear! Thanks Brian for your honesty.

    Furnace maintenance

We just moved into a new house which came with radiator heating. Never having used this type of heating, we called Laird to come and service the boiler and also tell us about do/don't of radiator heating. Sam who came by was very helpful in explaining what we should watch for, and cleaned up after he was done with the boiler.

    New AC and Furnace

Laird & Son's reps are all very knowledgeable and they just get the job done with a level of competence that gives a homeowner peace of mind. Yes you can get cheaper quotes, but Laird & Son only uses high quality products, and never cuts corners in installation.

Disconnect / Reconnect Air Conditioning Unit

To facilitate exterior foundation repairs, it was necessary to disconnect the air conditioning unit beside my house, and then reconnect it following the foundation work (it was also necessary to install an exterior shut-off switch to meet newer code requirements). I called a number of companies to obtain price quotes and information about the work to be done. I was impressed with the professionalism and helpfulness of all the staff at Laird & Son. They were happy to answer all of my questions before the work commenced. The technician who performed the work was experienced and pleasant (always a plus). I plan to continue using Laird & Son for my routine furnace and A/C maintenance. Happy to have found this company.

    Fix LG split A/C units

We had two leaky LG units installed several years ago by another contractor. The issue became worse. We called Laird and Sons. Noah arrived promptly and diagnosed the problem due to faulty wiring and blockage. Another appointment needed to be made. The units were repaired in a very time efficient manner. After the second appointment there was still some leaking but the units were functioning much better. Noah came back for a third appointment at 8am SHARP and unblocked the leaky unit at no charge. We are VERY satisfied. They are courteous and professional from the receptionist and office staff to the technicians. We would recommend them. Noah rocks!

Install high-efficiency gas furnace. Install and service tankless water heater.

When our old gas-fired hot water tank sprang a leak, we decided to replace it with a tankless unit and while we were at it, replace our old furnace with a high-efficiency wall-mounted gas unit. Laird's price was competitive and unlike some others who bid on the job, there was no big pressure to sell us what they wanted rather than what we wanted. (Direct Energy in Toronto was the biggest culprit in that regard.) The installation required a little more care and effort because of the small space between our house and the neighbours but they did it exactly as I suggested and the installation was neat and tidy. But Laird really came through when our Navien tankless heater developed a intermittent "mooing" noise when it started up. It took a lot of service trips and adjustments to try to figure it out. The manufacturer resisted replacing the unit until the replacement warranty ran out. When the mooing got worse, Laird went to bat for us and basically forced Navien to replace the unit for free. Now everything is work very well. While I was disappointed with Navien's response to our problem, it's a good unit. And our Munchkin Contender gas furnace is a marvel, very small and very efficient. Between the two, our gas bill has dropped about 60% or more. Anyway, I would highly recommend Laird.

    Furnace & A/C Replacement

In December of 2011, due to an aging furnace and underperforming Carrier Air Conditioner together with the government rebate programs our family decided to replace both components. We did an incredible amount of research and were overly cautious given our troubles with the Carrier that was only 5 years old. We researched models, manufacturers and installers. Mr. Dave Bissonnette visited us from Laird & Son and after several visits, careful calculations and several e-mails, a deal was struck. We chose to wait until we could see how both components performed before throwing our support behind any company or individual. My wife and I are very pleased with the equipment, the performance, the installation and on-going care from Laird & Son and Mr. Bissonnette. We erred in our handling of documentation related to the provincial rebate and Mr. Bissonnette was both patient and helpful in securing our funds. This was an 'arm's length transaction', but I will attest that Dave Bissonnette is a man of integrity, very knowledgeable , patient and helpful. I would have no problems whatsoever recommending Laird & Son and Dave Bissonnette in particular, to resolve any HVAC issues you may have. ...Steve

    Central air conditioner not working

When I opened & tried to start my central for the 2012 season I realized I had a problem. I contacted the company that the unit was purchased from & I spoke to 2 people that were rude & of no help. I went through the yellow pages, hoping to find someone that could be of assistance when I saw Laird & Son under a/c repair. I remembered my friend's recommendation of Laird & Son as a great company to replace my hot water heater, so I gave them a call. The first person I spoke to was Heather. She was very pleasant and gave me several dates and times to chose from, to have a service tech could come out & fix the problem. I was given an appointment between 3:00 & 4:00 and Sam arrived promptly at 3:00. He was very professional and courteous. He checked the outside unit then asked to see the fuse panel. Within a few minutes he had determined that the fuse responsible for the outside unit had blown. Sam replaced the fuse and got the fan running again. He checked the coolant level and my a/c was back in business. It was a simple fix and this wonderful technician found it, fixed it and didn't try to scam me into buying a new air conditioner. I really appreciate the fact that Laird & Son has employees that are honest, helpful and knowledgeable. Ironically, while Sam was here for the service call, a fellow + his trainee showed up asking to check my hot water tank. They said they were checking on homes with older tanks and that they would replace them for free. They implied that Direct Energy had contracted them out to replace customer's tanks without charge. I was almost ready to sign the booking for replacement when Sam advised me that they probably weren't working for Direct Energy and I should be careful of what I signed. I took his advice & asked for the contract & contact information. After they left I read the brochure they had left and sure enough Sam was right, they were one of those scammers we've all heard about that sign you up and lock you in. Had I signed that contract I would have been stuck with something I didn't need. I'm so glad Sam was there as a voice of reason and so glad he was able to get my air conditioning fixed. It's rare to find an honest and reliable company to deal with, but I found one in Laird & Son and would recommend them to all of my friends & family for their hot water tank, heating & air conditioning needs.

    Attic A/C System replacement

We contracted Lair and Sons on very short notice to replace our old Attic (Space Pak) air conditioning system. Dave was very professional in explaining the work required and was punctual in his arrivals and delivery of service. The work took one day longer than first anticiapted, but that was due to the difficulty the workers had in navigating our small attic space and removing the old unit. Everything went great otherwise and we look forward to a nice cool house this Summer!
