    HVAC Repair

The HVAC unit at my business in Coquitlam stopped producing heat on February 7, 2017 in the middle of a very snowy and icy period. It was a multiple issue involving a fuse in the panel as well as the ignitor on our multi-zone HVAC system. John, the Milani tech diagnosed both issues properly and efficiently and deserves 5+ stars for exceptional service. He had been out to us before in the past and same exceptional service which needs to be mentioned. The dispatchers, Heather, Nicole and Desmond who my wife and I spoke to on the phone were very helpful as well.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Lloyd, Thank you for the kind words and we've passed this along to Jon and the dispatchers involved. Have a great day!

    Plumbing

They were prompt, professional, friendly and gave very helpful service. Although this was not a huge plumbing emergency, we had elderly visitors so to us it was a household emergency.

    Ground floor leak

We hired Milani to fix a leak we had on the ground floor. They sent their drainage specialist who did nothing, just looked into the drain tile and concluded that the leak is not coming from the drain. $200 charge for that conclusion. Then they called us and offered to make two more appointments with heating specialist and with the plumber to continue. Each appointment is $150 to start with. This is the way they do their business. I would never deal with this company again. Do not recommend to anyone, unless you know what is wrong, who should fix it and how.

    Answer from pro:

Our inspection and recommendations were correct! We were called out to look at a “drain tile issue” that was presumed to be leaking into the basement. We provided the rates over the phone and dispatched a Drainage Technician with 10 years experience. The technician inspected the drain system, including the storm sump, and concluded that the drain tiles were not leaking. He then recommended “pressure testing the water supply line to house and test the zones to the baseboard heaters”. This required a technician with a gas ticket just in case any gas lines needed to be shut down. We were not notified of any dissatisfaction and only became aware from this review. We then offered to assess the problem at no cost to show our commitment to customer service, however the offer was declined. If the customer were to change their mind, we are more than happy to return to do the work.

Overcharged by Milani Plumbing for Simple, Quick Plumbing Repair

Milani Plumbing, Drainage and Heating (phone 604 984-2603, head office 5526 Kingsway, Burnaby BC) charged me $798.84 on Nov. 3, 2016 for under 1 hour of labour and less than $50 in parts during regular hours to replace two small plastic valves (a ball valve and check valve) and short piece of plastic pipe in my Burnaby home. Claude, the plumber they sent - told me he has 30 years experience and it showed, when he realized the plastic check valve needed replacing after I described how the sump pump didn't always turn off automatically, and the banging noises it made when it did turn off. He appears to be a qualified plumber and I recommend him. However, I strongly urge you to avoid Milani Plumbing because they greatly overcharge some of their clients based on my experience. The reason I choose them for this job was because I was charged about $1700 (really) by another plumbing company within the last year for replacing the sump pump, and wanted to this time give my business to a reputable company having great online reviews to avoid having another terrible experience. Instead what happened is that I feel they overcharged me by $600, (based on the $200 charge they quoted on the phone for the first hour of labour, not including parts) and for this reason I recommend anyone considering Milani Plumbing, Drainage and Heating to find another, reputable plumbing company by asking people you know for recommendations instead of believing online reviews. I'm sick of having companies greatly overcharge me and wish you luck in finding a plumbing company providing great value for your money.

    Answer from pro:

At Milani, we pride ourselves with providing exceptional customer service, while maintaining a high level of integrity. We find this review unfair due to the following: - Our records show that Claude was on site for approximately 3 hours to complete to work. - Prior to doing the work, Claude was at the customer’s home the day before to provide an on-site estimate, where the job was quoted for the amount given. The quote included the approximate amount of labour hours, as well as the cost of parts. The customer gave his approval to the quote prior to the service, and signed the invoice at the end of the service. No other price was given to the customer. Milani would NEVER start any work without advising the customer how much the service or project would cost, and before their approval of the work, which we emphasis did occur. Should the customer contact us, we are more than happy to explain the situation further.

    Plumbing

My toilet had a leak and got milani to fix it. Since the house is old, the plumbing was also bad that other pipes started to leak to my downstairs neighbour. We called milani again and Mohamed came. He was very polite and very detail in explaining what's happening. He got the job done. Excellent service. Very satisfied customer, thanks

    Damaged property, poor installation

Milani damaged my kitchen cabinet installing my new dishwasher, it was installed crooked and not level, was sticking out of the cabinet about 1.5" too much. Technician was very late - appointment was from 12 PM to 5 PM. He didn't show up until 6:20 PM. Milani sent out second technician, he was also over 2 hours late beyond appointment window. Fixed issue but could not fix damaged cabinet. Milani did offer a small partial refund, but I would never use them again. Edit: after writing this review, Milani contacted me and offered me a better refund and offered to send a restoration company to my address. Changed to 4 stars.

    Kitchen Sink Drain Cleaning

I invited Milani to clear my Kitchen sink drain which was clogged. It wasn't the trap which I had already checked. In clearing this chocked pipe the guy used unprofessional ways to withdraw the tool and broke my pipe. I had to call them again as water started leaking from my foundation behind.Explained this to both the guy who came and their manager Steve but they wouldn't understand me and are adamant to charge the second attendance as well.Highly unprofessional company. Wouldn't recommend this company to be used unless you have no other choice. Invoice Number is 937323.

    Answer from pro:

Milani has been able to sustain a successful business for over 60 years by maintaining a high level of integrity and uncompromising customer service. We find this review unfair and misrepresenting as for records indicate: - Customer calls and states "I (customer) have opened the trap and tried to clear it but it is still clogged" - Milani technician cleared line with standard snake which does not require a "tool" to insert or "withdraw" from the drain line. - Milani technician explains to the customer how inserting a snake into the line could not crack the pipe and also recommends replacing the line under the cabinets as they were old and needed replacing. - The customer agreed to all of the work and upon completion, refused to pay. We attempted to contact the customer on several occasions to discuss a fair solution, however, our calls and voice messages went unanswered. Should the customer be willing to contact us, we are more than happy to cooperate in coming to a fair and amicable solution.
