Meerkat was our insurance company's "contractor of choice" to fix our hail damaged roof and siding. Unfortunate for us that was the case. They have been barely professional. For our roofing, despite being promised by two different people that they would lay plywood under the bin in our driveway, they didn't and left rust stains. They said they would come back to try and clean the rust, instead they sent a guy with a broom to sweep it. Not sure how that helps. The roofers kept letting things fall off the roof, including a full roll of tar paper that is heavy enough to cause injury from that height. It didn’t hurt anyone, but it took several branches off one of our trees. Given that one of the roofers they sent didn’t even look like he was out of high school, I‘ll be getting an independent inspection of the roof to ensure it was done right. The siders were LOUD and obnoxious. Not their work (which is expected), but their endless yelling and cursing. They started piling debris on my neighbor’s lawn and couldn’t seem to understand why I thought that wasn’t acceptable because they said they would “just clean it later”. Their office staff is disorganized. I had no notice the sider’s were coming. That Monday morning at 8am they called to say they wanted to leave a bin within the hour and the siders were coming. I go home to move a vehicle out of the driveway and they call back to say, never mind, we’ll just use a trailer! Their cleanup is terrible. I have cigarette butts, nails, and small siding pieces all over my lawn. I’ll never use them again. If my insurance company wants to use them again, I’ll instead take the cheque and find my own contractor. ** Update. Just wanted to post an update. I was cleaning up the side of my house and found the siders had taken apart some of the arbor over my gate. I understand if they needed access, but A, please let me know and B, don't throw the pieces in the corner with your energy drink cans. Either put it back or tell me what you had to do so I know. Update: Finally had the eaves and down spouts replaced to FINALLY finish this ordeal. The crew left without actually attaching the front down spout to the house, and the when the spout extension folds down it smacked right into a tree trunk. Nice work guys. Had to have them come back again and fix it.

Once the sales man comes communication hit a brick wall. No reply to several emails or return my phone calls. Once the deal is signed they gave me no attention and would not address any of my concerns. I would never recommend this company, in a competitive market i am shocked that companies like this survive. Before choosing a contractor please take the time to do reviews on the internet.

My roof was damaged not only by the wind storm that hit in late 2011, but also by the numerous hail storms that we experience in Calgary. Meerkat staff was informative, friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. This was the first time I had ever needed to get any roof repairs done and their support and expertise was invaluable to me during this process. I not only received my quote, but also great information on the shingles themselves. Their quote was competitive with the market, detailed and thorough. I was very impressed with the service provided by Meerkat in that their staff phoned me to tell me what was happening throughout the process. They notified me of material arriving, bins arriving and the date they expected to be at my house to repair it. There were no surprises at all. The crew that came to replace my roof were extremely hard workers. They came to do the job and did great work. They were friendly, hardworking and very courteous. They tarped the area around my house to catch any bits that blew off the roof, but they were also very careful to constantly go around checking that everything was ok. At the end of the first day, the area around my house was spotless. They removed the tarps and cleaned the area entirely. The notified me of their return time the next day, again, no surprises. The following day, they returned on time and re-tarped the whole area around my house. They finished by the end of the second day and left me with a gorgeous roof! I would highly recommend Meerkat for any roofing needs. They made the process painless for me. This is a truly impressive company with really lovely staff,

Had a reroof done over a year ago, no shingles blown off and they didn't charge me extra for a small section of wood replaced due to rot which is normal on an older home. The bin was in my driveway for 5 days after the job, not a huge deal, but a bit inconvenient. I still found nails a few months after the job, and they broke a branch off my tree from throwing the old shingles down toward the bin. There was a leak in the roof after, however they did send their service guy who promptly and efficiently fixed the problem. (This was the French service guy who is super to deal with, not the other cranky gruff one who hates the world). They did send their painter to refinish around the area where interior damage occurred, however the guy was vague on when he would come, said a day but not a time, never came that day.. had to fight a bit. So basically I would recommend the company because Larry the owner does care, and he will ride his guys for you, however watch them closely because the subcontractors are lazy ones. In retrospect, I probably rated this company higher than I should have, but really, any guy with a truck and a ladder can call themselves a roofing company, so you could do much worse.

Shingles were blown off roof and Meerkat came and replaced them within a very satisfactory time frame. Despite the frigid temperatures when they arrived they replaced all missing shingles and hand tabbed to avoid future problems. They worked efficiently and cleaned up the entire work site along with removing downed shingles prior to leaving.

The crew was timely and professional. Their supervisor was well informed. Had problems with a large mess afterwards, but they were quick with clean-up and even came first-thing in a Sunday morning to complete the job. The roof looks a lot better and well-constructed after the service. Fair price for a large surface area.
