    2nd Floor Leak

As soon as Michael came to my door, I knew he was an honest man. I had a leak coming from the second floor when I flushed the toilet, you could hear water flowing down inside the drywall on the main floor dripping down to my basement. Michael's first assessment was to replace the toilet wax but noticed that there was water still in the waste bend. Water wasn't draining. He was very thorough in asking when I got off the septic tank. Really investigating to see whether I was actually off the septic tank. Michael tried to unplug the water but reported that the issue was with my stack and that it was most likely cast iron. This would require opening up the main floor ceiling. I wasn't prepared to proceed further as I have plans to demo the entire house. Michael is a great person who is knowledgeable and won't force you into doing a particular job without your consent. I'll be using Michael from now on for all the plumbing issues I'll have.

    Toilet Repair and Snaking

Overall, we had a good experience with WaterWorks. The booking was easy, they sent a photo of the plumber to us an hour before he came, and Larry showed up on time as promised. He was courteous, efficient, wore booties, and we are happy with the work completed (snaked the drain and fixed the toilet in under an hour). Our only caveat is that they are quite expensive. We were told that an estimate couldn't be given in advance, but when Larry arrived, he simply just pulled out a binder and quoted us a standard rate for the toilet repair and to snake a drain. At that point, we just proceeded to get the work done even though it was much more than we expected.

Hi Adrian, thanks for the awesome review. Our pricing is very similar to our other competitors here on Homestars and in the market place. Where we shine the brightest is we don't try to up sell you things that you may not need and we show up in a timely fashioned. We also stand behind our work. We take care of you just like family. Thank you very much for allowing us to serve you. Thanks from Michael Yuffa and your Waterworks Team!

    Water leak

Our water bill doubled last billing and Town of Markham noted that again today when they did the reading. I googled a plumbing company speciliazing on water leak detection and contacted the WaterWorks. A couple of hours later, we have Michael checked our house and found the cause of the water leak (water softener filter!). Michael was very helpful and professional and most of all very friendly. Highly recommend.

Replacement of the thermostatic mixing valve

The good The work was done well first time and Chad was very professional and clean up afterwards. The work is very neat. The neatest I have seen from any plumber I have hired in the past. The good is what what got the rating as it is. The bad I found that the cost of this valve job was very high and there was no breakdown which made matter worse. I felt that I have to accept the cost of the repair under duress as the old thermostatic valve was leaking - do I take another afternoon off work to get somebody else in or get it done. I have looked: a thermostatic valve is around $100 at Home Depot - perhaps $200 to $300 at the plumbing supply store for a similar one I got if I dig harder. To charge over $500 for anything that I write off as the labour repair is a little insane. To have to pay an extra $40 for the visit is nuts. I took the discount package just so that I netted an extra $10 off. Folks, you got good people, you need to improve on this. Otherwise, you will end up getting a lot of one off business. I am likely to recommend you because of the quality of the work done. I cant say too many good things about the cost. The other mess up was the timing of my appointment. I booked everything on Good Friday. I received a phone call on Easter Monday citing that you have double booked the time for the Tuesday after and that the other customer was first. Fair enough! When I insisted that I get someone first thing, the double booking was magically resolved! What with the bother and the phone call? That did not make you look good. Besides, while talking to you folks, there was a constant wailing of a fussing kid in the background which made it hard for me to hear the details. For this kind of money you are charging me, I do not accept this as it appeared to me to be a little unprofessional. In summary, I believe you can be great. You got good plumbers working for you and they do good work and clean up after themselves. In my opinion I think you got the hard part done. You need to be more professional and better organized when you are booking customers. No wailing kids please. No changing appointment and not changing appointment. That does not look good. You need to be more transparent with the cost and offer more value for money, or at the least perceived value for money. Not able to address the apparent feeling of being gouged will only get you one off businesses. If a customer feel that he is under duress to say yes, he is probably going to do this only. I think the competetive advantage in your business is relationship. You got me calling you from Homestars and your ratings. Now you need to work on keep me coming back to you.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Matthew, Thank you for your review. We will work on providing exceptional service and apologize for the double booking. We will take care of you should you need us in the future. Regards, The Waterworks Team

Leaking bathtub faucet and leaking to kitchen ceiling

Issue: Leaky bathtub faucet which I attempted to fix and made worse and ended up leaking down to kitchen ceiling. Access was to faucets was restricted and shower tiles needed to be broken. Called company A… they cancelled first appointment, and when they came said it would cost at least 3K and 3 days to fix. Stated the glass around shower needed to be taken out and retiling done by separate companies and would net be included in 3K cost. Called Company B… : said he would call back but never did. Called Company C… : Came and suggested it wasn't a bad leak and I should poke a hole on kitchen ceiling and put a bucket under it! Called several days later to say they were busy and were unable to attend to it. (Didn’t do the bucket thing) Called a couple more independent plumbers and didn’t get a reply. Called Water works schedule an appointment on the weekend. Larry came and saw what was needed and I picked up the parts. Unfortunately when he came back the faucets needed were not readily available at big box stores such as Lowes, HD or Rona. Larry even accompanied me to a specialty store who did not have it in stock. I ended up going to a plumbing specific store a few days later and rescheduled work within a few days in the evening which fitted our schedule. Total hours work was within 4 hours and definitely less than Company A’s suggested cost. Evaluation: Ask for larry Fast and efficient work Cost reasonable Schedule was at our convenience Good follow up as company often called to see how work was going

    Kitchen and Toilet Leaks

We needed someone to fix slow leaks under a kitchen sink as well as replace a small part in the toilet. The toilet repair was fine, but when the person fixed the leak from a kitchen pipe which was quite standard, and failed to fully check to make sure nothing else was affected, a second leak resulted within 24 hours, in the same location as the first. In the end it turned out to be an easy problem to fix, but the labour for the job was quite overpriced for what it was. The original repairs took less than 40 minutes to complete, the parts were easy to access and quite low cost. We felt taken advantage of without a doubt, and will never call this company again.

    Expensive for minor work

I called this company because I liked that they would give you a written quote. Unfortunately, they have a book where they get the quotes from. Replacing a water supply hose on a toilet is classified as a minor toilet repair - $300+, unclogging a toilet would be $200+ and that is if it was easily done. I paid them the $50 for the service call and called someone else. They came within 2 hrs and had the job done in 1/2 hr. It cost $150 and that included the cost of the replacement hose and taxes.

Im not sure if you are our client, however if you are,I'm sorry you are not happy with our services provided please call or email so we may refund your service call.Thank You! Michael Yuffa 416-489-0000

    Drain pipe snaking

Michael and Chad were courteous and professional. They showed up on time and were not pushy about unnecessary repairs, which is sometimes the case with contractors. They spent around two hours altogether consulting and performing the drain snake, and since the work there haven't been any backups from that drain.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Daniel, thanks for the great review. We're happy to hear that you had a great service call with both Michael and Chad and even more happier to hear that your drain is no longer backing up. We're always here to help in anyway we can and know that we are only a phone call/email away should you ever need us. Thanks from us all at Waterworks Plumbing!
