    Furnace repair

I called CoreTemp regarding a heating issue in the house. Richard coached me on some things to try on my own before booking a service appointment, which I appreciated. I did eventually have to have CoreTemp come though, and Richard identified the issue in minutes and replaced a part with stock from his truck. He also gave me some useful advice regarding diagnosing and troubleshooting furnace issues in the future, and some other heating and humidity issues in the house. Highly recommended. EDIT late 2016 - a couple of years later I had a minor flood in the basement from a failed pump on the furnace. Richard returned my call from his vacation in Florida within a couple of hours and referred me to a colleague who was covering for him. Awesome. EDIT April 2017 - Richard helped me diagnose and solve a furnace problem over the phone on a holiday weekend, which I greatly appreciated.

    Furnace Install

I experienced what everyone dreads to experience - my furnace stopped working on the coldest weekend of the year. My family woke up to a freezing house Friday morning. I have called Richard in the past, and he has never failed to impress me with his excellent customer service skills. I called Richard at 7:00 am that Friday morning, and can you believe it, he answered the phone right away! He was booked all day, however, he offered to help troubleshoot over the phone for free! With his help, I was able to get heat back in the house. Richard even then gave the phone number of another HVAC Tech in my area that could come over if needed since Richard was tied up all day. When I called the HVAC tech Richard referred me to, the tech told me that he was waiting for my call as Richard had already called and explained my situation to him! My furnace seemed to be working fine now so I did not pursue any further action. However, on Sunday the furnace completely died down. Richard said he would gladly help, however, he advised me that the manufacturer of my furnace, Carrier, settled a $300 million dollar class action law suit for defective furnaces and that I could be covered for some of the parts and labour under the law suit settlement. Richard was very honest and upfront with me and told me that since he was not a Carrier dealer, I could be better off having a Carrier technician service my furnace under warranty. That was very honest of Richard. I called the Carrier certified technician and I had to wait until Tuesday morning due to the long week to get an appointment. The Appointment was at 1:00 pm but they did not show up until 4:30. They concluded that my secondary heat exchanger was gone, and that it would cost $1500 labour including tax, but that the part would be covered under warranty. They told me that I might as well get the primary heat exchanger changed but at my cost for the part, which brought the total cost to about $3500. At this point, it was a no-brainer, I would be better off buying a new furnace. Now who did I call for a new furnace? Who deserved my business? Why none other than Richard. I have used Richard 3 times before and have experienced nothing but TOP notch customer service! I felt he deserved my business he actually cares about helping people. I called Richard that same Tuesday evening and told him I was ready to buy a new furnace but that I really needed it installed asap. He told me all my options. He even advised me to do research on the internet before making a decision. In the end I went with the Lennox SLP98 top of the line model with WiFi Icomfort touch screen thermostat. This is where Richard went above and beyond. Understanding that I have been without heat for the last 4 days, Richard took it upon himself to reschedule his other appointments and said he would be at my house first thing in the morning at 8:30 am the very next morning! I was simply delighted. Richard, true to his word, showed up at 8:20 am. He was done in over 3 hours. He and his assistant Eric were just fantastic, super friendly and very efficient. They explained everything to me as they were installing the new furnace. They cleaned up after they finished. Richard then trained me how to use the new digital thermostat and even helped me download the iPhone App that lets me control the thermostat from my iPhone! He even called me later that evening to see how everything was going and how the heat was in the house. Richard continues to raise the bar in customer service. He simply cares for his customer’s well-being. This is the reason why I gave my business to Richard. He truly deserves it. I recommend him to all my family and friends. Thank you Richard, Eric and Janice! You guys are truly the best and have won my business because of your stellar customer service! I am super happy with my purchase!

    2 Furnace Installations

Richard at Coretemp installed two furnaces. I got three quotes. Coretemp was slightly more expensive than one of his competitors. But the way Richard approaches his business, by being the one who attends to give you the quote, and install the furnace, I felt more confident going with him. He also inspected my super old furnace (which others did not) to see if it was worth fixing (the others just said it was a write off). He has provided very good follow-up service since then. He is always prompt in responding to emails and calls. He is punctual, timely and clean.

    furnace repair

On Jan.17 at 9:30 pm I noticed that water was leaking from the bottom of my furnace. I wasn't sure if the water pump was broken and over flowing. So I called Coretemp and left message. Richard was very quick in calling back. After a few more questions on the phone he accessed that it could one of two possibilities or both. First it could be a water pump failure or secondly the water trap. Richard told me that he would come over first thing Sunday morning which he did. It ended up being the water trap. Not a surprise to him considering the age of the furnace installed in 2009. He replaced the broken part. Everything seemed fine until I noticed water again. Richard came over again and this time it was the water pump failed. He replaced the pump at no cost even though it was over the warranty period. While he was there I had my yearly maintenance for furnace done also. If you want fast and reliable service you can count on Coretemp. Thank you again to Richard and Eric.

    furnace humidifier

We thought the furnace humidifier was broken but when Richard came out to see it, he told us we jut needed a plummer to put in a new saddle valve. The humidifier was fine. I really appreciate his honesty and professionalism. He cares about his company's reputation.

    Tankless Heater

I had a Rinnai tankless heater installed a while ago by Richard. He knew what he was doing, installation was done well, and when scheduled. It's been working well for 18 months now. I would call CoreTemp again for this service.

    Furnace Replacment

Fantastic work by Richard and his crew. I'm old fashioned and believe in businesses should prosper from their efforts in making their costumers feel 100% satisfied. Their costumer service was superb from with second my initial call was made to CoreTemp. During the install my hard wood flooring was accidentally scratched; but what truly impressed me was that they immediately told my wife and said they would cover the cost to fix the damage. What I appreciated was they addressed what happened instead of cowering and hiding the situation. In my books; that far out ways the scratch. I much rather a small scratch on the floor than no heat in my house and I can easily touch up the scratch. I would and will definitely recommend to all family, friends and reviewers to acquire there services. I know I'm in great hands with this company. I wish them continued success...they definitely deserve a 10 star rating. GREAT JOB TO RICHARD AND HIS CREW. THANK YOU AGAIN.

    Lennox furnace install

Wanted lennox forced air natural gas furnace to replace still working but noisy and inefficient one stage furnace. Am a do it yourselfer when I can and quite particular if I have to hire work out. Had 3 on site quotes. All prices roughly the same but selected core temp based on product knowledge and quality of quote including the fact same fella (Richard) would be doing the work. New furnace (lennox modulating) installed September and has been operating wonderfully now that it is cold. Very quiet which is important yo us as tv room right beside furnace room, and the modulating fan model makes the house feel warmer at the same temp setting as old furnace. Install day went exactly as promised. Highly recommend Richard and core temp . When hiring out any work for your home always suggest the homeowner be available as small issues requiring on the spot decisions inevitably arise. We never imagined how much joy a new furnace would bring us. My wife especially likes being able to adjust the furnace via iPad from bed or her phone.

    Furance and Air Conditioner

Had numerous people provide me a quote to replace our furnace and A/C unit. Richard came in and gave me a high degree confidence and was also very cost competitive for the Lennox products they sold. The installation ultimatley went very smoothly and was completed as scheduled. Richard spent a lot of time educating me on everything and all the key features of the thermostat. For post install support, Richard has also been great. Following up to check in. They've also been very quick to respond when the thermostat sent out a service message after having a bit of trouble firing up for the first time in the fall.

    Advice

I have used Coretemp in the past and their service has been excellent. I recently had to call them on a Friday night about an issue that a plumbing contractor was telling me was a furnace problem. They answered the phone (on a Friday night!) and directly explained to the plumber how this was a plumbing issue and how to fix it. When I offered to pay for this very valuable advice, they refused to take any money. Outstanding professionalism!
