    Heating & Air Conditioning

CoreTemp provided a very fine Lennox system at a competitive price. They've always been responsive and professional. We had a unique installation situation which necessitated having Erik and Richard return months after the initial installation to work with our landscapers for the final configuration of the venting. They willingly and cheerfully returned on a couple of occasions to complete the installation. The Lennox system they installed is wonderful. Quiet, even heating and AC. No more loud machinery and fans. No more noticeable temperature fluctutations. And areas which were previously too hot (in summer) or too cold (in winter) are now comfortable all the time. We highly recommend them.

Central Air Conditioner purchase & install

From the initial sales call and quote right through to purchase and installation, I was impressed with Richard and his team. We had 4 companies quote and CoreTemp was by far the most professional and customer service focused. I felt confident that we were getting honest information that was relevant to our situation. The customer service provided was above and beyond expectations; Richard was able to get our A/C up and running to temporarily keep us going until the installation. This was during one of the recent heat waves so we were very appreciative. I would have no hesitation in recommending CoreTemp based on our experience.

    Furnace Replacement

The guys dropped by and replaced my furnace a couple of weeks ago and just replaced the thermostat today. They actually fixed an issue on my old furnace, no charge, until they replaced it as well. The service was great and the guys were friendly and responsive.

New Furnace, Air Conditioner & Control Unit

We recently reached out to Core Temp to discuss replacing both our air conditioning and furnace units. Our air conditioning had broken down and since our furnace was on its last legs we thought it would be wise to replace both at the same time. Richard answered my call and was quite responsive in arranging a personal visit within 48 hours. We talked about a number of product options considering the needs of our house which had been underpowered by the builder’s equipment. It was refreshing to have a discussion around various options that would meet our needs rather than feeling like it was a hard pitch to push whatever would make more money for the installer. The installation was completed over one day the following week. Richard and his team paid high attention to detail and did not take any shortcuts with the installation. I know we paid a bit more than going with a cheap quote but we preferred the comfort and security of having it installed by a professional – Richard has been doing this for over 30 years. They were respectful of our property even going out of their way to make sure our pets didn’t escape. Richard also did a walk around the house afterwards to suggest various venting strategies to improve air flow even further. Janice in the head office was also fantastic in helping a fix of a rebate snafu with the manufacturer. This company is strongly focused on the customer by standing behind both its services and products. We would highly recommend Richard CoreTemp for anymore considering a new furnace or air conditioner!

    Air Conditioning

We live in a four year old home and the cooling of the house was never satisfactory especially on the top floor where all the bedrooms are. We had at least 4 contractors come by over the years to look at our system and the recommendation was that we'd need a new air conditioner and furnace in order to enable enough air flow to get to the top floor. Needless to say, it didn't leave me with a minty fresh taste in my mouth to hear that I'd need a totally new system when the house was brand new but the word was that these are "contractor" units that are just put in to get the house sold and that the only way to fix the problem was to get new equipment. We put off the changes and decided to live with some discomfort for a few weeks during the year. We just recently returned from a trip and our air conditioning unit was a frozen block of ice and the inside of the house was 28 degrees C. We ended up calling a couple of companies and after shutting down the system and getting the ice melted off, got one to come in and take a look at the system. Service call said that we were down some coolant and recommendation to look at a new system. After talking it over with my wife, we decided to bite the bullet and "invest" in a totally new system as we basically had it with the existing air conditioner providing poor cooling and breaking down so I called 3 contractors to come in and give me an estimate on the work to be done. As this was the weekend, Richard, the owner of Coretemp was the only one that agreed to come in on Sunday morning. After listening to what I said, Richard went down to the furnace room and looked at our unit. His first comment was that he knew the unit well, that it was a very good unit and that it seemed that the blower was not on at full power. We decided to take the panel off and within 5 minutes Richard had this thing blowing almost twice the air flow that it did beforehand. Afterwards, we looked at the air conditioner and he agreed that it wasn't the best but that we should be able to get a few more years out of it. He serviced the unit and installed some gadget to help the compressor out. Needless to say, I was prepared to spend whatever it took to get the problem solved and that was looking to be well over 10,000.00. Richard solved the problem for a small fraction of that number in just a few minutes and the house is now cooler than it ever was, especially on the upper floor. I give the highest recommendation possible to Coretemp and Richard Payer and for anyone looking for a knowledgeable and honest contractor, he's your man!

    Air Conditioning

Our A/C stopped working during the wonderful stretch of 30 degree weather and left us with that gut twisting feeling of "Get ready to empty the wallet." We checked a few A/C companies on Home Stars and decided to send a message to Core Temp. We sent the message on a Tuesday evening and Richard contacted us the following morning. He asked me to describe the problem and offered some suggestions as to what he believed the issue to be. Given that our schedule wouldn't permit us to be available during business hours, Richard advised he (or one of his technicians) would attend our house sometime after 5 pm to accommodate us. I arrived home at 5:05 pm to discover Richard walking from his truck to our driveway. Richard quickly diagnosed the problem (exactly what he had figured out via the phone call) and had our unit up and running immediately. Given that my wife and I know nothing about A/C units, Richard could have told us the "widget" and "left phalange" were broken and easily made us believe the unit needed replacing. What he chose to do was diagnose the issue correctly, thoroughly explain what caused the problem and provide a very reasonable quote. I can not be more clear when I say that Richard is one of the few businessmen out there that puts his own integrity ahead of the almighty buck. I whole heartedly recommend you contact Richard if you need A/C or furnace work. My wife and I wouldn't consider approaching any other company for this type of work in the future because we are confident Richard's genuine desire to take care of his customers can not be beat. Thank you, Richard, from (now) very loyal customers. PS If you have an emergency, call Richard instead of sending him email - We thought his response time was reasonable, but he advised me that he may have been able to get to us the same day had we contacted him by phone.

    A/C Annual Maintenance

I emailed CoreTemp with a request for an appointment after seeing favourable reviews on HomeStars. I was changing from my existing HVAC contractor because they had become just too large and I could only speak to an answering service in the USA. I received a reply from CoreTemp within an hour. The day of the service call Richard and his trainee arrived promptly and were very pleasant to deal with. I remain completely satisfied with the work performed. CoreTemp even went the extra mile by painting a rusty hydro box and doing some remedial caulking required around an exterior vent pipe, at no additional charge. More than a month after the initial service call, I had a couple of questions about the humidity in my home. Richard got back to me very quickly and addressed my concerns. Great service CoreTemp. I highly recommend this company.

    AC Repair

This is a special company. When our central air conditioner refused to start, the first company I called (which also has a ton of 9+ reviews on Homestars) sent a technician who spent over three hours trying to diagnose the problem. In the end, he gave up. Richard from CoreTemp came out two days later and solved our problem in just under TEN MINUTES. He did a good job of explaining the electrical-based issue to someone like me, who has very little electrical knowledge. But wait! Richard then proceeded to call the other technician who had come to our house and explained to him what our problem was and how to fix it. This shows a great respect for the greater HVAC business community and concern for the state of the industry. That kind of attitude is rare. We'll definitely be calling CoreTemp in the future.
