    Back water valves

Looking for a back flow valve, I called Rooter Man based on what I found on their website. Mike came out to the job and said I would need two back flow valves. Job was done and paid for, when I was inspecting and found out that the second back flow valve served no purpose. It was a dead end pipe! I called Mike he came back, inspected, agreed that the second one should have never been installed, agreed to refund me but had to ok it with his boss. I did not receive a call back so I have been trying to contact him, the office and the owner for 8 weeks and have been ignored. They were prompt before and during the job, but now won't return any calls. This is terrible business to day they least and I would not trust any of them. So I have to question if it was a mistake or if they do this knowingly?(installing and charging for unnecessary things)! So in short; FIND ANOTHER PLUMBER!! DONT CALL ROOTER MAN!! DONT TRUST MIKE OR BARRY! I welcome anyone from Rooter Man to resolve this!!

    Sewer Line Replacement

After being a loyal Rooterman customer of 15+ years, who has referred others to them, we are very dissappointed and angered by their recent work on our home. We needed our sewage line replaced under the house out to the city connection. To start with the crew they sent did nothing but complain the about the job for the whole three days they were on site. It was obvious our work was subcontracted out to small operator. We let the the project supervisor know that his team was rude to us and did nothing but complain. They also placed the clean out access in the middle of our lawn not where it originally was which was close to the house and out of the way. Begrudgingly they came back a week or so later to move it. A few days later my next door neighbours (who are friends of ours) mentioned that their basement was backing up with sewage. They called in a plumber of their own and began to have their line replaced. Two days after their work started it was discovered that their line which connects to our line in a Y connection had been blocked by Rooterman when they inserted the PVC sleeve through the old line. We contacted Rooterman immediately they sent out the supervisor who was on our job. He confirmed that was indeed what happened and it was their fault. However, he said that we should have called them when the back-up happened at our neighbours house. I told him "how would we know that the houses are connected together that's your job to know." He said they did know that houses in the neighbourhood are like that, but we should have called them anyway. With our lawn open again we discovered that the clean out line had been installed incorrectly by Rooterman. We insisted it be done correctly. They assured us they would, but they were not happy about this as they spoke with us in a short and irritated manner in person and on the phone. By this point my neighbours must get their work finished as they haven't had a sewage line for close to a week. Their supplier finishes the work and Rooterman's owner Barry says he will speak with the other company owner and my neighbours to work out a deal to cover this botched job. Barry does not strike a deal with the other company and offers my neighbours a rediculously low amount in compensation. My neighbours show a williness to be flexible, but Barry chooses not to be and barely raises his offer. Our neighbours have been forced to take legal action against Rooterman and probably us. Meanwhile, our basement has never leaked no matter how hard it as rained in the 7 years we have owned the house. The first big rain after our work was completed water begins pouring in from around the concrete patches Rooterman put in when they did our work. I have the video and will post this as well. We call Rooterman and they assure us this will not happen again and to call them if it does. Meanwhile, we've been waiting to have our clean out line attached in the same place it was originally. Finally after constantly calling and emailing Rooterman to finsh the job they send someone. They dig then fill the hole back in again saying there is loose earth and lots of ground water underneath our porch that needs to be filled in. So we wait to have them come back to finish the work. My wife continues to try to get Rooterman to finish their work, but they have not sent anyone in the last month+ even though they promise to on the phone. I am deeply dissapointed in the lack of responsibility Rooterman has shown in this fiasco. I own a business myself and I would never allow a client to be treated the way we have EVER! I would be ashamed to conduct business the way Barry and Rooterman have. DO NOT USE ROOTERMAN!

    Backflow Valve Installation

I chose this company for three reasons: 1) the price they quoted; 2) the explanation they provided me of what was needed; and 3) the reviews for installation of backflow valves on Homestars was generally highly rated. Mike and team came to the house to excavate within days of agreeing to the work. The inspector came the next morning and I received the paperwork for the rebate the next business day. One thing of note was that Mike was always available to answer my questions throughout the process. Overall excellent experience.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Ihab. We have the industries top professionals working with Rooter-Man and we make sure all work goes smoothly and as planned!

    new kitchen sink installed

I changed my counter top and kitchen sink. I needed someone who installed my kitchen sink and the faucet, so I called Rooter-Man, and I am so pleased! Yves, the rooter man that attended me, was amazing and very polite and respectful, and a hard worker. He answered every question I had (I had no idea so I asked millions of them haha) and he was very patient. At the end, his work was great! I would definitely call Rotter man again and will recommend. Thanks!!

Thank you Christina for such kind words. At Rooter-Man we strive to provide the best customer service possible.

    Plumbing

We had a sewage back-up in our basement, and it destroyed all of our furniture and carpeting. I found Rooter-Man on Google and called them for an estimate. They sent out a plumber named Ryan, and was able to tell me the problem, and the cost to fix it. He provided me with a detailed invoice, and really held our hand through the process. Rooter-Man’s excavation crew did a splendid job and cleaned up our front yard nicely when they were finished. I would like to thank Rooter-Man for a job well done! Lisa in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you very much Lisa! We appreciate the kind words. We understand how tragic a scenario like this can be and we here at Rooter-Man treat each house we visit as our own.

    backwater valve

I called this company because I received their flyer for a backwater valve. They sent a plumber out who explained where they had to dig to install the backwater valve, and they were at my house and working two hours later. They responded promptly and were in and out quickly. They were a pleasure to deal with. Holly, Etobicoke

Holly, We are so glad to hear that you are satisfied with the service Rooter-Man provided you.

    Sum pump installation

Do Not Hire this company. We have hired this company to investigate a leak in our basement. their sales rep Steve came over to assess the problem and recommended a solution. Solution was to install a sump pump and back water valve and that will take care of our concerns with minimal disruptions to our basement. We were concerned, but Steve assured us that they are a reputable company with ties to the city of Toronto and that he has completed these jobs in many homes. Work was completed within three days as promised; however, their contractor caused damages to our front yard due to excessive drilling, destroying bricks on our house wall as well as our interlocking bricks and flower beds. the sump pump was installed incorrectly and flooded the entire basement ruining carpets, drywall, doors, and furniture. The leak that was the original issue was still not repaired, and we began a four month long journey to have them fix the problems that they have created. both Steve and the Manager Rob assured us that this will be looked after. they have attempted to address the problem with leaking by doing interior waterproofing and in the process ruining our drywall even further, and also not completing the waterproofing as the leaks are still present. at this time they refuse to answer any calls, nor are they willing to address the problem or provide insurance information that they claim they have.

Pipe replacement from foundation to property line

Run, do not walk away from this company! They have never once responded to any of my concerns regarding my collapsing retaining wall (which they under-cut, did not shore-up and left uncovered for 4 months. This left me open to a law suit if someone had fallen into the hole. They told me that they had filled the hole and the mounds were the soil that needed to settle once the temperatures got warmer. Here is the story: we had a sewage back-up and engaged Rooter Man to come do the necessary repairs. It turned out that they had to dig relatively close to our brand new retaining wall which was completed less than one month before. Naturally I raised this as a concern but was told that all would be fine. I raised it again when I saw how close they were digging and again was assured. Well, it turns out that they under-cut the retaining wall by at least 18 inches and of course, it started to collapse in the spring. The main issue was the under-cutting which was not supported in any way except the "key stone" effect of the stones and the fact that they left a 3 foot deep hole in my front yard for 4 months. No caution tape, just a tarp. I was told that they had filled the hole and that the soil would settle when the snow melted and it warmed up. Well, the snow melted and the tarp blew off revealing a 3 foot hole! This is a health and safety nightmare! I could have been sued if someone (like the mail carrier or paper boy often do) had trudged across my lawn thinking it was a pile of snow. This company also refused to honour the discount coupons from their web site because I would be entitled to a rebate from the city for the back-water valve. The paper work they provided to us to submit to the city was also entirely wrong (said we had an illegal parking pad rather than a private drive). They didn't get anything right! Run as fast as you can. I would have rather had sewage in my basement than deal with this company again.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Stephanie, I am very sorry to hear about the horrible experience that the last owner/operator of this company put you through. I can assure you that the new management and staff strictly abide by all building codes, occupational health and safety act, employment standards and are WSIB licensed and are fully insured.

    Backwater Valve Installation

I called Rooter-Man after the flood because my insurance required a backwater valve. Rooter-Man came out and gave me a free estimate that was lower than everyone else so I decided to use them. They sent an excavation crew and began the same day, and the job was finished and inspected by the City of Toronto by the end of the week. What impressed me the most about this company is that they filled out all the paperwork for the City Rebate, and all I had to do is wait in the mail for my rebate cheque to arrive. I would definite tell others to use this company, as they made the process relatively easy. Kevin from North York, Ontario

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Kevin for the kind words. Rooter-Man works hard at assuring customer satisfaction and a job well done.
