    Haystack provided me with excellent services. Very professional, prompt, attentive and with excellent follow up with reports, emails and a personal phone call. Highly recommended to any body who wants a professional, trustworthy and reliable home inspection.

    Home inspections

    Chris did a home inspection for me when I bought my current apartment a year ago. He was extremely friendly, courteous and professional, even coming back free of charge when I phoned with a query. I would recommend Chris without reservation for anyone buying or selling and needing an inspection.

    Home Inspection

    We were very impressed with how thorough Chris was during our inspection. Nothing was missed. After the inspection we received a well documented report and Chris took the time to explain in detail on all reported issues. A month later Chris called us to offer his assistance in an insurance issue that we were dealing with. In our opinion Chris went way beyond his duty and we would happily recommend his services.

    Hi George, Your recommendation is appreciated. As we discussed the issue your insurance provider is having with your electrical system is most likely a communication issue with your insurance broker. The electrical system within your home is up to date and the changes they are asking for are unreasonable. There appears to be some confusion between the use of multi-strand aluminum wiring and single strand aluminum wiring. Multi-strand aluminum wiring is commonly used today for larger appliances and to power electrical panels, this is perfectly acceptable. Some insurance companies will not underwrite policies on homes with single strand aluminum wiring, used during the mid-1960’s to late-70’s to power outlets and lighting, because of an increased risk of fire.     Home Inspection

    We had Chris from Haystack Home Inspections inspect our house before the purchase. He did a great job ! Chris is someone who truly loves his job and the quality of his work shows it. He was thorough and was happy to explain everything to me during the inspection. In addition, he provided me with ways to fix/improve current problems. For example, after the inspection he followed up with me to see if I purchased the home, and he answered questions I had about the roof. He recommended I find a roofing company who can give a group discount to my neighbours and I if we had our roofs done together. In addition, he taught me how to maintain my roof and do spot repairs. I will definitely work with Chris again!

    Home Inspection

    We were looking at a duplex in Strathcona that we knew would need some work but wanted to get a better handle on the issues before we committed. Chris was punctual and thorough and got us a very complete report that helped us make the decision - not to proceed with the purchase. Chris did a great job; I recommend his services.

    Home Inspection

    Thanks Chris for doing an excellent job of inspecting our home. Every aspect was positive from the clarification on PBT piping, the willingness to review Strata documentation, the friendly and thorough onsite work and finally the professional report. Thanks Chris. I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your recent inspection of our new home in North Vancouver. I’ve purchased several homes in the past and worked with a couple of different inspectors who are well established in Vancouver. I found my experience this time to be far more positive than with past inspectors. For starters I was impressed by your willingness to assist with providing great web based information on the Polybutylene piping that exists in our new home. There was a lot of ambiguous and misleading information surrounding the PBT piping in the complex which you addressed through various historical and installation specific references effectively putting my mind at ease. Another aspect of your pre-onsite work that was particularly impressive, and very different from my previous home inspection experiences, was your willingness to review strata meeting minutes on past maintenance activities performed. This was great background information which led to a more relevant and informed final report. The onsite work performed was equally thorough and professional. From showing up early to your independent yet inclusive and friendly approach to the inspection both the realtor and I were impressed. In the past I’ve found that the inspectors seemed rushed and somewhat detached. In your case I could tell you thoroughly enjoyed evaluating every aspect of the structure and all the nuances of the internal workings of the place. At the same time you were able to distill the review down to what was most important and put it in a way that was easily understood. The final report was the icing on the cake. It was professionally presented and written and included a summary of what we discussed onsite as well as information on other minor points. I will keep the report as a reference guide to the home on what was done in the past and what may need to be done in the future. I feel even better about our home after your inspection as I now feel I know it better than homes I’ve lived at in the past. I am now aware of its strengths and it’s weaknesses. This also allowed me to leverage my investment in the inspection by requesting repairs from the seller. Thanks again Chris for inspecting our home. Both the realtor and I will confidently refer you to other home buyers.

    Home Inspection

    Chris from Haystack Home Inspections was recommended to us by another home inspector who was unable to help us due to time constraints. In our initial conversation with Chris, he provided a fairly indepth description of the services he covered as well as encouraging us to attend the inspection. Chris was very detailed and indepth in his inspection. He spent over 4 hours on a 3200 sqft home. We found Chris very professional, organized and easy to deal with. His opinion was unbiased and very forthcoming in showing us any deficiencies and recommendations on ways to correct them. He spent over 4 hours on a 3200 sq ft house, explaining what he was doing every step of the way. He isolated items which where substandard or not to today's code, also indicating where further investigation should be followed up when it came to some moisture detection. The report was detailed and very easy to read with pictures to support the issues in the report. He encouraged us to contact him at anytime in the future if we have any questions. To our surprise, he followed up a couple of days later to see where we were on the status of the house and to see if we had any further questions. It is difficult to find "good" people in this industry and are we are very happy to have used Haystack and would absolutely use him again in future.

    Home Inspection Services

    We recently engaged Haystack Home Inspections for the third time this year. Chris, the owner of the company, identified moisture issues during two earlier inspections on two separate homes we considered purchasing. As a result of Chris' efforts, we were able to make informed decisions on whether to proceed with purchase. Chris provided objective, professional and unbiased reports of his findings. Chris also followed with us a few days following each inspection to check-in to determine if we had any questions about his report, and if we were satisfied with his services. On our third home inspection, Chris once again provided a thorough assessment that gave us a clear picture of the deficiencies, their priority and estimated costs to re-mediate. We would not hesitate to recommend Haystack Home Inspections to our friends and family.
