    Home Inspection

    Chris from Haystack Home Inspections was professional, thorough and pleasant. I particularly liked the full detailed report he emailed to us after he did his inspection- which is something I had not received with previous home inspections with other companies.

    Pre-purchase condo inspection

    Chris walked me through all of the maintenance items for future consideration, and was very flexible in booking the appointment at the time of my convenience. His report was thorough and full of helpful photos.

    Home Inspection

    The property I am interested is over 1M - quite a big investment. So i am very caution, and want to 200% sure the property has no problem and no potential problem. Chris is very professional. He knows what he is doing and I actually followed him during the whole inspection. He explained each procedure to me, I am very happy with his professional knowledge and service. Highly recommended! AAA+++

    House inspection

    Chris is great! For me, as a girl, who doesn't have much knowledge about houses & maintenance, that house inspection was a lot to take in. Chris was very patient, explain everything to me. I had to contact him a few times after inspection with more questions, and he was very helpful about it. Great experience, highly recommend! :)

    Condo purchase

    I found Chris to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. As first time homebuyers, we were nervous and wanted to ensure that we were purchasing a quality place. He put us at ease by explaining the process and his findings during the inspection. Chris also provided a comprehensive summary at the end.

    Home Inspection

    Chris has blown away all of my expectations of a home inspection. I have spoken with numerous other home inspectors (all of them were friends' referrals), but none of them could provide the services that Chris did. My point is, don't just listen to your friends; read the reviews! Chris gets perfect 10/10s for good reasons. He arrived early (not just on time, but EARLY) to inspect the exterior or our building before even I showed up. We then went over the machinery room, the roof, and even the parkade where he pointed out any cracks and things and explained why they're there. This is what I meant when I said Chris had blown away all my expectations ---I only employed him to inspect our apartment suite but was happily provided a full comprehensive package. As expected by this point, with the suite itself Chris showed even more care in the inspection. Every nook and cranny, every light and appliance (yes, he will even make sure your washing machine is running properly) and he even discovered a single missing screw on a door hinge. The list goes on... At the end of the day, he then emailed us a 50-page inspection report complete with clear pictures, recap of EVERYTHING that we went through on site, along with a super easy to understand colour-coded "severity rating" for what requires action immediately and what can wait. In the end, the inspection report helped us negotiate a better price with the seller and I am now the very happy owner of our new home. Thanks Chris! Your work gave me confidence in my purchase and contributed to me and my wife's new life here. I will recommend you to all my friends ---and telling them to read the reviews for themselves of course :)

    Home Inspection

    My husband and I found Chris on HomeStars and would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a good home inspector. In particular he was very patient, allowed us to shadow him and ask lots of questions during the inspection. The information we learned from the report was invaluable and insightful. Chris is courteous, easy to talk to, and prompt to reply. We really appreciate him being able to schedule the inspection to fit our needs. We are very happy with the service we received and would gladly use Haystack Inspections again or refer him to family/friends. Thank you for helping us with our home purchase!

    Home Inspection

    Chris did an excellent job of home inspection for us. He was very patient, thorough, professional and took his time to answer any question we have. He also spent a lot of time explained the findings of his inspection report to us which are very helpful. Overall, a very satisfied experience! Great job Chris!

    home inspection

    Chris Thomson has done two home inspections for us. He agreed to stop the first inspection half way through when it became evident that there were too many problems with the property. We have acquired the second property after he did a comprehensive examination and left us feeling confident our new home was in good condition

While it is rather unusual to find major issues that would turn you off a purchase so quickly into an inspection it happens occasionally. At that point when your mind is already made up to complete a full inspection and to charge you full price is almost like rubbing salt in the wound.     Home inspection

    Chris at Haystack Home Inspections did a home inspection for me for a condo I was considering purchasing. All the way through the process Chris provided excellent communication, excellent service and a very comprehensive report about the 'health' of my prospective condo at the end. I am a first time home buyer and was looking at an older (1975) low rise condo building as I was wanting to avoid 'leaky condo' nightmares but was aware than an older building would likely have its own potential issues. Chris was very thorough - before doing the inspection he reviewed the strata minutes and plans. On the inspection day he arrived early so had already conducted a preliminary assessment of the exterior by the time I arrived. Chris went up on the roof and down into the basement, examined the car park and the utility rooms. In the suite (amongst many other things) he opened up the electrical panel , brought out his water meter, opened windows and ran the dishwasher. He took loads of pictures as I trailed after him and asked lots of questions. He easily answered all of my questions and asked me some of his own; what I was most concerned about and what was of less concern to me (ugly paint jobs lol). After the inspection Chris provided me with a detailed report with photos, indicating objectively what was good, what was satisfactory (and why) and what would need to be addressed immediately. He also invited me to call him if I had any questions and in fact followed up with me a day or so after issuing his report in the event I had any more questions. That report helped me make an informed decision as to whether or not to remove subjects and ultimately I did decide to purchase! Chris obviously loves doing home inspections and really cares about his clients. He provided great service to me and I happily recommend him to anyone who is looking for a home inspector. **I have posted the same review on Yelp**
