    Incomplete Installation & Rebate Application

Reliance replaced my old Furnace with a Rental Furnace (with ECM-motor) and AC Oct.5,2017. After several Phone Calls, Text Messages, and eMails Reliance have not had the AC wired yet (Nov.21). Reliance apparently did not properly complete the Rebate Application for $1650 ($1000 for replacing Furnace, $250 for ECMotor option, $400 for Energy Star Central Air Conditioner) possibly plus $50 for Programmable Thermostat. --- I am ONLY being offered the $250 for the ECM

    Beware of protection plan

I paid for a service to protect me from high costs of repair. I hired them to come and clean my furnace to fall into a trap to have my furnace replaced. The guy told me my furnace was not safe and shut it down and placed a tag that gives me 45 days to resplve the issue. This happened on a Friday night and temperatures outside were around 0 degrees. The next day someone calls me from Reliance to come to quote me on a furnace. I told him that I am not interested and he said” isn’t your furnace shut offf?”. I replied yes, but I feel that I am being set up and I would never fall into this trap and not interested in wver dealing with and do not ever call me. I got an independent furnace person who told me that thw information was inaccurate. I cannot discuss the outcome because I am contemplating legal action. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!

Expert technician fixed my heating woes

My heat and hot water suddenly stopped working over the weekend. Joe Green came by yesterday and spent most of the day diagnosing and eventually fixing the heating issues. He had to replace two pieces and found out that the initial install was done with 3 additional missing pieces in the previous year. Joe took his time to explain how our machine works to heat the home and what was the issue. He has stated that he is coming back first thing Wednesday morning to properly install the missing pieces so I don't run into issues anymore. Disappointing that my unit was installed wrong (previous owner) and I likely had to pay for lackluster service for a whole year. Happy that Joe came by and spent his whole day fixing my issue. Ask for Joe if you want an expert technician.

New Furnace and Water Heater Installation

Today we had a new furnace, water heater, humidifier, filter and thermostat installed by a great team from Reliance Home Comfort. I have nothing but praise for this group of guys, from Tony Gveric, who walked us through the process of choosing the right equipment and financing for our home, and arranged a quick turnaround to have the equipment installed, to Rob and Kyle, who showed up on time and efficiently and professionally completed all the work. They were very careful not to damage our carpet or walls as they moved equipment up and down the stairs to the basement, they explained what they were doing, answered my questions, and cleaned up beautifully when the work was done. Rob showed me around the new equipment and helped me understand what they had done and how the new furnace worked. He very patiently guided me through programming our new thermostat and instructed me about how to set up the smart phone link so we can adjust the temperature from wherever we are. I was very pleased with the work this Reliance team did today, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering this kind of work.

    Furnace and air

On November 1/17 we had a furnace and air conditioning unit installed at our home as well as our rental property. Reliance advertised for 18 months no payment however we were only given 1 year no payment because our rental did not have a Reliance maintenance program ( which we have had for at least 20 years at our home) our salesman Andrew at first offered only 6 months but when he called his boss to say we were walking only then were we offered 12 months no payments. Remember we are doing this at 2 houses!! Install takes place on November 1/17 all seemed to be great. On November 15/17 my husband and I were called to Toronto for a family emergency. We returned home Thursday November 16/17 we returned home at approximately 3pm, we both thought the house felt cool. My husband went to turn up the heat and noticed the thermostat was blank and not working. He immediately checked the breaker and power switch to the furnace and both were fine. Our salesman was called and he informed me to call Reliance so a tech could come out. This was done and about 7:30 pm a tech arrived. The tech was very knowledgeable and courteous and was able to solve the issue very quickly. The condensation tubing was kinked in 4 places!! This is brand new tubing so seems inferior materials had been used. The tech would return the next day and replace the tubing with better quality tube. He did in fact return on Friday November 17/17 late and replaced it. He was very apologetic for being late. While disgusting the issue with him in the furnace room we noticed how poorly the furnace had been glued and taped. We questioned the tech and he assured us it was safe but could have been done better. We have been Reliance customers for well over 20 years but have now lost confidence in them. Our salesman assured me his boss would be calling us to rectify the issues, I’ve waited 2 business days and the salesman has emailed his boss at least two times as well with no call or email returned. I expect Reliance to call and speak with us and correct these issues. My 86 year old mother lives with us and if we had not returned home on the Thursday she would have been cold. I also referred a person to Reliance (before we had issues) who purchased a furnace and air and I was told I’m not eligible for a referral fee because it was another salesman. A referral is a referral and I think I’m owed the $250 for the referral. I had another man ask about Reliance today and I’m hesitant to refer again!!!

Furnace would not start. Called reliance and they arrived promptly. Flame sensor was cleaned and furnace now works correctly. Technicians were very polite and efficient. Would recommend to others in Thunder Bay.
