    Service

2 observations: 1) We recently had to replace our HVAC unit. Reiiance was one of our quotes and at 2 different times we thought we had a deal but then just as we're about to sign the sales rep 'remembered something'. The first time was that the additional features of the current deal were not included in the cash purchase price (rental only) and it was going to cost us an additional $1000. We wound up agreeing to pay an additional $500 for the better filter and humidifier. Once again we thought we were done and the rep discovered that he had undersized the air conditioner for the house and it was another $1000. Needles to say we walked away. 2) We also have a Reliance Home protection plan that we're trying desperately to cancel. We now have a brand new HVAC system (Not from Reliance) and we've called several times, followed their instructions to send emails to the appropriate place and the bills keep on coming. They will not pass us through to a supervisor when we call and frankly not sure what our next move is.

    A/C installation

Excellent service from everyone, the salesperson Bill Wright, the installers Chris and Aryn ,the install manager Claudette Spurrell .All were personable, efficient and informative. I greatly appreciated the periodic notifications by phone regarding the i nstallation delays and the manager's visit to check the progress on the early evening installation and to express her regret for any inconvenience the delay may have caused.

    water heater

Not that good. Had to give low rating based on my experience. Not sure if I would recommend to any friends. Technicians were very helpful to me and my family.

    AC Inspection

An inspection that was a sales call from the start. Technician said there is a potential leak, as exemplified by low freon, danger being the freon in the house can cause cancer (read: scare tactic). Suggestion was to buy a new unit or pay $1089 to diagnose/fund the leak. And the original appointment was cancelled without notice. I called Reliance thinking they were about customer service, but they were about sales.

    a/c

After the run around for 10 days. Of course during the hottest DAYS. Having the run around from two contractor that reliance had sent. That were going to charge me $500 plus had to move the a/c unit... (even longer story) I haven't even had the unit for a year yet! (Sept 2014) Finally after calling Reliance 3 to 4 times a day sending emails for 10 days. The Angel Gabriel a Reliance tech, was at our door to fix the unit. He did a few test and what a surprise what the previous techs had said had nothing to do with the unit. It wasn't even the issue. Reliance should take pride in Gabriel as a representative of your company, his professionalism, customers services skills was over and beyond. Absolutely fantastic. He completed the work when he said he would, even check with us to see if we had any other questions or concerns. Left us with his number just in case any issues over the long weekend. Gabriel deserves 10 out of 10.

    Hot Water Tank Repair

Apparently the third time is not a charm... Pilot light on my hot water tank has gone out 4-5 times in the last month. Called Reliance to book a service appointment. Wait through 4 hr window that ends at 11pm. No show. Two days later, a second 4 hr window. No show. (Even called to confirm a tech was coming) Complained, received small credit as an apology and book third appointment. Have them confirm appointment time in writing. We again confirm someone is coming mid-appointment. NO SHOW. Only a company that forces you to honor a contract I didn't sign (house had rental when we purchased it) through an exorbitant buy out cost can offer this terrible of service and remain in business. NEVER choose Reliance Home Comfort if you have a choice.

    Air Conditioning

My air conditioner stopped working today; one day before I was leaving on vacation. I called Reliance and Michelle helped me set up a service program and organize a service call (she was great!). This was at 3:10. Service call was booked from 4:00 - 8:00 today. At 4:00 Dave O #1685 called me and he was here within 15 minutes. He was personable, efficient and helpful. My air conditioner was fixed in under an hour. Dave was awesome and I am so grateful that I was able to get this issue resolved before I went away. Kudos to Reliance, Michelle and Dave for amazing customer service.

    Replaced Hot Water heater

Had a flood in my house due to leak in upstairs bathroom on a Tuesday. Hot water tank was damaged beyond repair. Called in info to Reliance. Assigned the job to Capital repairs in Ottawa. Came out Wednesday morning unprepared to replace or repair anything. Said they'd be back on Friday with new tank. Turns out the problem with the repair is they were worried about the buyout on the tank. They have now billed me 791.00 for a ten year old tank after leaving me without hot water for several days. Due to terms and conditions I am stuck with them as my service provider unless I wish to pay the same amount again to break the contract. Avoid Reliance... buy the tank and get a warranty to avoid being gouged.
