    Water heater and Furnace

We had issues with a noisy rental 7-yr old water heater. Dave from Reliance came very promptly the day after we called for assistance and was very helpful in his suggestions and in getting an appointment within a few days to install a new water heater. On his recommendation we also decided to replace our furnace with the Smart Air furnace which is much quieter and more efficient. There were some issues as we were hoping to have a tankless water heater installed but when the installer, John, arrived he determined it that it would not be possible. In spite of this set back, John and his team were able to complete the entire installation of a new water heater and furnace with new piping according to the current codes in the scheduled time. Dave came right away to get the new paperwork finished and all was done very professionally. Our basement area is now much quieter. Thank you Dave and John and the team!

    Gas Furnace

I feel like Reliance must be playing a really elaborate prank on me, because I can't imagine a company actually treating customers like this. This is a long one, so I apologize in advance. I've had a service contract with Reliance for about 7 years, and previously had good experiences with them. Earlier this week I had my gas furnace stop working in the middle of the night, and booked a service call with Reliance for the following day. I have had Reliance technicians assist with similar issues in the past, but in this case the technician turned up promptly mid-afternoon and proceeded to take one look at my furnace and then contacted the gas company to cite a code infraction relating to clearance around the furnace. Then he left without fixing anything, because obviously being short 8 inches of clearance around the furnace is a greater safety concern than my 5 year-old being in a house in winter without heat. So not only is my furnace not working, but now I have to knock down a wall in my basement or else the gas company will shut off my gas altogether in 90 days. And Reliance won't help get the heat working again until the wall is down, so their promise to "always act in the customer's best interest" means potentially a few days without heat until I can get it sorted out. I do commend them on their response times, however. Not an hour and half after sending an angry email describing my predicament did a service manager (who is friends with the CEO no less, as he informed me) called. Unfortunately, all he had to say was: (a) that code violations are important because their technicians can lose their licenses, (b) that they had no recollection of any previous service calls on my furnace and that their system is super-awesome at tracking this kind of stuff, (FYI, most recent before this was Oct 28, 2013 - no mention of the furnace clearance by that guy or any of the others) (c) that the code infraction prevents service of the furnace, and any other furnace technician will tell us the same thing. At this point in the conversation I was so angry that I had to end the call. God, I really regret calling them in the first place. The individual who actually ended up fixing the problem (in about 10 minutes) agreed that Reliance's response in this situation was pretty ridiculous. I'm happy to again be with heat, no thanks to Reliance. But I do still have to knock down a wall in my basement before Feb or my gas gets shut off in the middle of winter, so I guess I can thank them for that. Doubtful I'll be using them again. Wouldn't recommend to others.

    Furnace

Called on Tuesday November 11th for service on my furnace and water tank as we did not have heat or hot water. Was told by the representative that someone would be coming on Wednesday to take a look. Wednesday came and went as did Thursday and no one showed up after confirming that they would. Friday came along and after spending the day on the phone with reliance and chasing them down someone finally showed up at 930 at night but couldn't fix our problem as it was late and too much noise. Saturday came along and the fixed my issue and billed me. On Sunday myissue returned and now it's Monday night and again I was promised someone would be here by 8 and sure enough no one showed up. What a reliable company. Have never dealt with so many misleading promises from one company. So disappointed and cancelling my services

    Furnace cleaning

My story begins with a furnace I thought was maintenance free. We had purchased this high efficiency furnace not more than 10 years ago. When it was installed the technician told me in these words "the guy who has to fix this furnace when it needs service will need a laptop." The furnace recently started making grinding noises and eventually the fan motor gave out. It was karma that my wife actually signed up with Reliance and in good time. The first visit was with a technician who replaced the blower motor and upon his recommendation, we booked another appointment to have the furnace cleaned. Jason was the technician who came out to clean and inspect the furnace. His window on repair did exceed what was quoted but his service was excellent. He also took the time to explain the billing invoice to us before leaving. We were so impressed we upgraded our our plan to include air conditioning as well. Good job Reliance!

    Humidifier

On my request, Matt Santos-Home Comfort Advisor visited my house. Matt was awesomely meticulous in introducing himself, smilingly showing his identity on asking right at the outset, having briefed me in the most precise and concise fashion and later inspected the gadgets in a most professional manner. Matt was never found mincing words towards answering my questions relevant to my needs. Matt demonstrated utmost knowledge of the work as entrusted by the company and expected by me. While in active conversation with me, Matt exhibited great oratory and job-related know-how by way of explicitly providing me with requisite information, all possible options in terms of best functionality of the appliances and best services as offered by the Reliance Home Comfort. I was indeed impressed by the qualities of his head and heart. Matt was handsomely dressed. To me, Matt represented the company in the most qualified manner. Matt was seen to be a true ambassador of the company in question. I wouldn't be wrong if I call him an invaluable asset to the organization he's currently working with/for. I wish him all the very best both in his personal and professional life. Thank you, Matt and God Bless!!!!!

install of furnace and air conditioner

It took them approximately 6 1/2 hours to totally gut my old furnace, replace it and install my brand new air conditioner. They were prompt and cleaned up after themselves. The work was very well done, clean lines, everything was professionally finished. Wolfgand (not sure of his last name) and John Plannic made the whole thing totally seamless. Well done.

    Furnace & A/C

Ryan & Jordy (#1659) replaced my furnace and A/C. They arrived when scheduled, did great work and spent some time after finishing explaining what they had done and how to operate the new equipment.

    fix furnace

I have the heating/cooling maintainance plan from Reliance. My first time ever using the insurance this year since there is no heat from furnace when I switched over to heat couple weeks ago. A technician came out on a Sat. and diagnosed I need to replace pump. He ordered the parts and told me to book another appointment when the part arrives at my door. My nightmare started there. An original estimate for the parts to arrive on Mon. did not materialize. I called in, and as told to wait for one more day. Tuesday nothing happened. Called again, and was told to wait till Friday. Friday, nothing again. Called in and reliance promised to call me back the next day morning. Sat. nothing happened. On Sunday, argued my way to talk to a supervisor at Reliance, and got informed on Monday (today) Reliance will call me to update me. Again nothing happened. I called in today, and was refused to be transferred to the supervisor who was overseeing my case. Is reliance insurnance valid? my toddler girl and my old mom is at home without heat for over a week when it is below zero. And I have repeatedly told Reliance that. Are you serving your fiduciary responsibility? If you cannot resolve the problem, should you be lining up your external contractors at this point?
