    Everything We Wanted In A General Contractor

    When we first started planning our basement apartment construction plan, we had no idea how to find a competent, trustworthy contractor. Every contractor advertising anywhere will show you their best reviews and project photos, but how do you find out how they handled problems? We had Oborne Contracting come to check out our site along with several other general contractors. We were impressed with John's professionalism, his marrketing materials, his prompt follow-up and knowledge of all aspects of the proposed job. It was also nice to deal directly with the president of the company, even though he has staff that could have been delegated to do this job. After we decided to engage Oborne Contracting, we had regular communication with John and his staff. The first stage, which was done this year, was completed promptly and professionally. We could not have asked for better work and look forward to a similar approach to the rest of the project, to be done next year.

    Condo renovations in 2020

    We found Oborne Contracting on HomeStars, and in our experience they were knowledgable, friendly, professional, and easy to work with. Our renovations started in early March, just before the provincial lockdown. Despite having to put the renos on hold Oborne was on top of everything, keeping in contact and letting us know as soon as they could resume safely (and in accordance with all new provincial guidelines). The on-site coordinator, Jeff, was fantastic, always doing exceptional work despite us all being cooped up indoors together while we worked from home. We had entirely new laminate flooring installed, plus a kitchen wall knocked down and a new island installed. The kitchen wall particularly involved a lot of electrical rerouting and subcontractors, which Jeff helped us navigate. While 2020 meant our renovations had to take longer than originally planned, Oborne Contracting did excellent work on our first home. We've already recommended them to friends, and would do so again.

    Closet Renovation

    We hired Oborne Contracting to increase the size of the closet door opening in our playroom and replace the bi-fold door with a double swing door. They work was completed quickly with no disruption to the rest of the house. Jeff's workmanship and detailing is excellent. This was our second time working with Oborne Contracting and we look forward to working with them again.

    Back porch renovation

    Oborne did an outstanding job. Very meticulous and careful work. Customer service was excellent. I am very happy with the final result. They were clean, respectful, and took great care to ensure the project was completed with high standards.

    Bathroom Renovation

    We recently had a bathroom renovation completed by Oborne Contracting - if you are looking to have quality work performed within your home I would highly recommend this group of professionals. John and Tim (project manager) were excellent to work with. Their professionalism, clear communication, and attention to detail made this an incredibly easy and enjoyable experience for our family. Thanks to them, we have an incredible second bathroom in our home that we will all enjoy for many years to come. I hope to work with them again in the future for other renovation projects within our home.

    Shower reconstruction

    I found Oborne Contracting Inc. on HomeStars and requested a quote to rebuild my master bathroom shower which had a leaking shower base, and repair and paint the main floor ceiling which had water damage. Their quote was not the cheapest (in the middle), but I felt comfortable with John that I would be taken care of when things didn't go as planned. Tim, the project manager, was excellent, and was very responsive to my questions and requests. He worked very hard, did a great job, and kept the work area as clean and tidy as possible. I also must thank John who took the time to explain everything that was going to happen, and checked in with me during and after the project. Overall, I was very happy with the workmanship, customer service, and the finished product.

    walk in closet and ensuite

    I changed a small bedroom to a walk in closet and bathroom for the master bedroom. John and Jeff(the PM) were awesome to work with, they assisted in the design to suit my needs and it turned out great. Jeff was here daily with others from Oborne, they are all very friendly even to my doggie, available for any questions I had. Everyday I checked what they did and the work site was always clean. I did have a other quotes come in and Oborne was the highest but was so worth it. They stand behind all their projects, I would consider having them back. I was very very pleased with them and I just love love my new closets and bathroom. Thank You John and Jeff

    Door build and trim match

    By far the cleanest, friendliest and finest worker I’ve had do any type of home work. Punctual, precise and diligent are all words I’d use to describe both the quotation and renovation experience. The cost may be a few bucks higher than some, but quality is worth every penny. Thanks guys!

    Leaking ceiling repair

    I had water leaking through the ceiling in my kitchen and living room. I wanted to make sure that this issue got remediate properly so I called John from Oborne Contracting. He is the guy I call when I need things done right. John was super responsive. He had the issue checked out that week and got started on it right away. Within 3 days the job was done and the result was fabulous! The whole process was seamless. I’m very pleased with his work once again!

    Professional. Attention to Detail. Great Work.

    We did a renovation of our facility to get it post-COVID ready. From creating independent change stalls, dividing walls, doors, paint and finishing, and moving around equipment. John and his team were very professional, came in and measured everything, got a quote in a short period of time. It came in reasonable (not the least, not the most expensive either) from the 3 vendors that came in, but definitely was the one that put the most care and detail oriented. Communication was key. They finished the job in the time they said they would (I was surprised myself, dealing with multiple contractors in the past, I expected it to take at least 50% more time), but they came through. The work was near flawless, I couldn't believe it, they even went above and beyond to paint the walls adjacent just so that the colors match because they were unhappy with just a shade of difference. They cleaned up nicely, treated the place with respect, and it looks amazing.
