    Doors and Window replacements

Brock did some great work as part of our total home renovation. We had windows replaced and made larger, patio doors replaced where they had to cut brick and install lintels, and everything was done immaculate. We are very happy with the work they have done and would recommend them for sure to our friends.

    Windows & Doors

We had six window estimates from various companies in the GTA and caught many people being dishonest. Brock's salesperson Kevin Howatt provided me with proof of all his claims. He was actually the only one that could provide a clearance certificate from workers compensation from his installers. All the companies said they were Window Wise and actually had the logo on there advertisements, but only two were when I called Window Wise. After viewing some jobs in the neighbourhood Brock's quality was so much better than the others. Thank's Kevin for all the help with the project and the great team of installers that left our house sparkling clean. Brock your GREAT!

    window replacements

We had all of our front casement windows, a picture window in the dining room and a sliding door in the main bedroom all replaced by Brock. Eric had advised it would take two days to complete the work. However, rain was forecast for the second day and, as a result, Eric and his assistant worked tirelessly throughout the first day and into the evening to complete the installation. We had to attend an appointment before the installation was complete so we left the house keys with Eric. When we returned the house and yard were all completely cleaned up. We are very pleased with the renovations, with the service from Brock and with the installation done by Eric.

    Window Installation

We used Brock because we wanted North Star windows and they were the only authorized North Star company for our area that is also WindowWise certified. We had 6 brick-to-brick bedroom sliders replaced by casements, and one long basement window replaced with two sliders. The installer measured the windows without removing the trim, so they ended up about 1-2 inches smaller than they could have been. Other than cracked plaster, an expected event, there were no problems with these windows. The living room window is another story. The flat living room windows were being replaced for a bay. This is a very large window, 12' x 6'. We were told by the sales rep that they use cables to hold it up, so we wouldn't need a support underneath. We were very happy about that, because we hate the look of skirts underneath bay windows. When the installer came to take the final measurements prior to the installation date, he never mentioned any problem with using cables. On installation day, the installer didn't use the cables for the bay window. When we asked him why not, he said there wasn't enough room between the top of the window and the soffits to do the work, But he said that there was enough of a ledge below the window to hold it up. We called John, the owner. about it. He investigated and called back and said that they would have to build a support and skirt under the window. We were very disappointed. A different installer came to build the support and skirt cover. He couldn't drill through the brick wall with his non-hammer drill, so he fastened the 2x4 skirt supports into the mortar (a no-no). We asked him if the sides of the skirt would line up with the ends of the window frame. He didn't give a clear answer and just said that it would look good when it was finished the next day (though we wouldn't be home). At that point, we should have insisted that he come back when we were at home. When we got back the next day, we were most upset. They used recycled vinyl siding which looks grey, not white like the window frame (bad enough), and the skirt doesn't line up with the sides of the window so it looks chopped off and stands out. Called the owner, John, about it and he insisted that's the way it should be and wouldn't listen to any arguments. The next day John and another person came over without calling. He said he saw no problem with the skirt. He also drove around and found a window in the area that he said didn't have the skirt the same width as the window. When we went out later we drove past that house. It looked horrible. It was some kind of cheap, amateurish, thrown together job. John should have been ashamed to use that as an example. We also showed John that the bay window frame allows cold air to blow in where there were large gaps in the foam insulation around the frame shims. He said that the air leaks came from the walls!! He said that he refused to fix any of this...that that was the way it's going to stay. He mentioned that the skirt was worth $425, as though we should be happy not to have to pay for something we hadn't wanted. (And the cables, which we paid for, he got to keep for some other job.) He also said we were too picky. (So remember folks, expecting a good job is being too picky.) He left and phoned shortly afterwards telling us to pay up at once - which we did. If you have a simple, straightforward job, Brock will probably do an adequate job. But be very careful with anything more than that. Customer satisfaction is definitely not important. It's a good thing that the trim wasn't put on around the bay window or it wouldn't have been so easy to see where the leaks are coming from. We're fortunate in that our handyman can seal up the leaks before the trim goes on. He also said he will fix the skirt size and replace the siding if we wish. But we shouldn't have to be doing this. That's the job of the installation company. As for the window manufacturer, North Star has been excellent. We found some scratches on two windows. North Star replaced them quickly and without question.

    Window Installation

Our first experience with Brock several years ago was terrific so when it came time to replace several additional windows we didn't hesitate going back to Brock. As before, their experienced installers were perfectionists in workmanship, courteous and professional in demeanour and cleaned up the site as if they've never been there. We've recommended Brock to several friends/family in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

    Nine Windows

I had 9 energy efficient windows installed in my house in July of this year. The first gentleman that came to the house to show me the brochures was very helpful and actually selected the type of windows that would fit my house. The next gentleman, one of the installers, came to measure the windows. I was advised that it would take 6 weeks to order the windows. I was pleasantly surprised when I was contacted that the windows were ready ahead of time and we made an installation date. The two-man team came on time, were very courteous, worked the whole day, answered all my questions along the way, installed the windows, cleaned everything up and made sure I was happy with their work before they left. I would recommend this company to anyone. You will have no worries that a quality job will be done in a professional way.

Installation of doors and patio doors, cutting of wall

We contracted two inside doors and a patio door installation with Brock Windows & Doors and we were very satisified with the quality of their service: the installations were done on time (actually they rescheduled them to accomodate some other work we were doing) all with no fuss: "You need us to come in earlier ? Don't worry, we'll find someone for you." Beacause of the rescheduling we worked with two teams - both teams were not only professional, but also the people were very nice. Remarkably, John, the company owner showed up when the job was done and closely inspected the work. Brock also had to cut the wall for the patio door: it was done as cleanly as possible, without any damage to the newly installed hardwood floors.

    Windows and patio doors replaced

We looked around for a company that would not only give us a great price on the replacement of numerous windows and patio door, but a company that provided great service. Brock did all those things, right from the start when Eric the Sales Rep came to the house and when Rob, the installer came to measure and later do the installation. We also needed to attend at the Head office show room, where Mike explained the window specs and procedures in further detail. From start to finish this is a fantastic company to deal with. When we do more renos next year, we will be sure to make Brock our people to call.

    Replace Windows- Retrofit

Like anyother consumer we went through numerous companies offering window replacements. We even signed a contract with a leading window service provider, but than got a chance to meet Mike. He gave us a great price as we were looking to replace all the windows (there were about 16+1 patio door). He gave a nice demo and explained his products in great detail and more importantly how his stuff was better than his main competitor. Having gone through a number of such presentations and done our own research, we realised what we could get from Brock. The windows arrived on time and were implemented with great finesse by Tony. If you get a chance ask for Tony to put in the windows. He is really really good. Efficient, detailed and real pro. Does the job with diligence. Takes all our questions with patience and explains them really well. Communication is key as he and his team explained and took all our questions. At the end , we were quite pleased with the way the entire process worked out. I Would use the same vendor if I had to do it for another home as also recommend him to any one who is interested to get their windows done. Great job done. Now just got to wait for the winters to see some energy savings.
