    Basic window cleaning

Fairly efficient service to book it online on their website. They came within 2 weeks and just did the basic window cleaning (as I requested). However, the company should not be passing on the credit card interchange fees to the customer. Or better yet, build it into your prices please, like every other business does.

    Answer from pro:

Please note that the use of "credit cards" were solely added for the benefit and convenience of the client after receiving enough enquiries to justify the option. Our website indicates up front that this is simply an option for payment and that there is a 3% charge added for it for which we are charged. Many people collect points and are very much willing to pay the 3% for the incentives obtained via the credit card companies. We don't think it would be fair to add a 3% extra charge to all our services for the very few that prefer to use their credit cards. We provide a service without asking for money up front and trust that our clients will subsequently pay after the services are completed. We let them decide what method they will use and clearly explain the differences it will make to the final bill.

    Window Cleaning (Indoor and Outdoor)

We had Clear View clean our Windows in July 2010, my apologies for not posting this review much sooner. I had chosen Clear View based on the positive reviews I had read on Home Stars. Our windows were particularly dirty this past year due to the dust and grime from major road construction that was recently completed on our street. I don't know the name of the lad who came to our house, but he was very prompt, ringing the doorbell at 11 exactly. He was friendly and explained what he would be doing. I particularly appreciate the job he did with our front living room window, especially since he had to climb over some overgrown bushes to complete the job. (They will be gone by next year!) Before he left he went around the house to do his final inspection and even took the ladder back off of the car to touch up an area. I appreciated that he took the time to point out areas that he felt were foggy due to window age and sun damage, even though I hadn't noticed. They looked good to me! He did a great job with the sliders and the frames. We were impressed with the cleaning itself, as well as the follow up call we received from Brian after the fact. I have never had any company follow up after service was completed, making sure we were satisfied. I was very happy with the cleaning, but that customer service really sealed the deal. We will most definatley look to Clear View if we require window cleaning in the future, and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

    Eavestrough cleaning

In late November, I contacted an eavestrough cleaning company that's popular in my neighbourhood, but they were not available until mid-December, so I tried to find another company to clean my eavestroughs. I got an estimate from an independent contractor who could do the job right away, but wanted to charge upwards of $400. I decided to look for other companies on HomeStars, which is how I found Clear View. I used their handy online estimator, and was contacted about a week later (it was early December by then). The person I spoke to was honest. He told me that because the cold weather had arrived, the eavestroughs couldn't be cleaned well since everything was frozen. I was disappointed, but he said I could put myself on a waiting list and if there was a warm spell, Clear View would send someone out to do the job. I agreed, and last week (late December), I received a call telling me that someone would come do the cleaning toward the end of the week. On the day of the cleaning, Kevin Morris gave us a call shortly before arriving to let us know he was on his way. When he arrived, he rang the bell to let us know he was going to get to work. He brought with him a big ladder, heavy rubber gloves, a leaf blower and a bunch of bags (plastic and paper). He spent about 1.5 hours cleaning the eavestroughs on our 3-storey, semi-detached Victorian house, which hadn't had a proper cleaning in a couple of years. When he was done, he rang the bell again to give me the invoice. I asked him a few questions about the roof and eavestroughs to find out in what condition they were, and he was helpful in his comments and recommendations. He also cautioned me that he had placed the eavestrough debris in a paper bag in the backyard, but that it was heavy, so I should be careful handling it. I was a bit surprised that he wasn't going to take the debris with him since I'd read in other reviews that Clear View does this, but it was no big deal. Unfortunately, the city's yard waste collection was already over for the season, so I asked Kevin to put the debris in regular garbage bags instead so I could store it until yard waste collection resumed (since paper bags tend to disintegrate). He very willingly obliged, which was nice of him. Finally, he told me I could pay for the work on the spot by cheque, or send a cheque to Clear View by mail, or pay by credit card online. I chose the last option. One word of warning to those who plan to pay by credit card: Clear View charges an extra 3% (presumably to cover the fees from the credit card company). This is stated on their website, but I hadn't noticed it beforehand. Again, no big deal, but the extra cost could add up if you have a really big job. Overall, I was very pleased with the work and would use Clear View's services again in the future. I'm glad I found them!

    Answer from pro:

Hi there. Seems you had a positive experience overall. One concern you mention about is the fact that the debris was not taken away when completed. Please note that while we do try to do so, much depends on a variety of situations. For example, at the time your work was done, the debris was soggy and wet, which makes it rather difficult to remove from the property unless we had vehicles equipped to take care of such debris. Additionally, we sometimes can not take the debris away if the vehicle is already full from previous jobs. Hope this clarifies and misunderstandings. Thanks

    Window and screen cleaning

I spoke to Brian to book the cleaning service, and was very happy with how quickly he could squeeze the job in. Peter did a very thorough job on cleaning the windows and screens, both inside and out, but I was surprised to find when he left that he did not wipe off the window sills. The pricing is higher than average, but it was transparent (I got a detailed receipt), and the quality of the service is definitely higher than other providers I used.

    Answer from pro:

Please note that we do normally wipe off the window sills. I have to assume that perhaps some were missed in the process? In any case, I will pass on the observation to the person who did the job. In the future, just give us a call and we will resolve any oversights.

    Window cleaning

Needed my exterior windows and screens cleaned after moving into a new house. Others companies refused to commit to a start time (I have two young kids that nap and a four hour appointment window does not work for us). Toronto Clear View committed to an 8am start and was done within three hours. Windows were exceptionally cleaned and the screens that were caked in mud look brand new. Would definitely use them again.

    Clean all wondows, clean eavestroughs

Since my job was small they were able to fit me in quite soon after I contacted them. Showed up on time, were pleasant, efficient and did a great job. I'll use them again, for sure.

    Window/Screen Cleaning inside and out

I have dealt with Toronto Clear View Window Cleaning for over 15 years. In all that time (twice each year) have had nothing but excellent service and a job well done. Always prompt and courteous service. No complaints. Also excellent Gutter Guard installation in eaves.

    clear eaves troughs, clean windows

Brian was highly recommended by a neighbour and we have used his services for the past 6 or 7 years. He's always reliable and always very good! Brian comes to our houses 2 or 3 times a year with regularity.

Trimmed the English Ivy on all four sides of the house.

I hired Clearview to trim the overgrown ivy on our home, which was taking over the windows and our new eavestroughs. They showed up early and were very friendly and upbeat despite the heatwave they worked in. They trimmed the ivy perfectly and even did the areas that were heard to reach. The windows were perfectly cleared, right down to the tiny branches. The whole job was completed within 2 hours! I will definitely call them every year to do this for our home. It took me many phone calls to find someone to do this for us and when I called Clearview, they didn't hesitate; they were very friendly and had a confident "can-do" attitude; a rare quality nowadays!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for the word of appreciation. We have been told that vine trimmers are indeed difficult to find. We are glad to hear that you were satisfied with our service.

    Gutter cleaning

I contacted a few other cleaners (all with perfect ratings)...only one responded, who refused our business because we were one block outside his catchment area. Oh well. Also, to the non-responders, if you're not going to respond to your online service, don't offer it. I went through Clear View's online tool...very handy...and detailed. Put it this way, I went online on a Tues morning, got home Wed after work and found the invoice for a perfectly completed job! Great to find a company that still values customer service.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the review. While we do care about customer service, we hope you do not expect "next day service" each time. You just happened to be near another client that had submitted their request a week ago. In other words, your submission in your favour...this time. ;-)
