    Kitchen, Bathroom, and Basement renovation

We hired Lifetime General Contractor for multiple projects. We first used them to renovate our basement kitchen - which excellent. The second project was to have them re-do our upstairs bathroom - again was just excellent. The last project we had done was to re-finish our basement. This project got caught between the company selling/new ownership taking over. We felt our project got lost between the cracks due to the company change. We had reach out to them many times to get the job finished. Our basement project was delayed approx 3 months and the quality of the finished product suffered.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Mary. You are right that the company ownership changed in 2014. However, the existing owner at that time stayed on for the next 18 months. we were assured that quality of workmanship in the projects and management professionalism will not suffer as a consequence of the change. Previous owner was given free hand in managing projects which in your case did not produce professional results. It is obvious now that some projects were neglected and yours was one of them. The previous management staff has now been replaced but all previous carpenters and renovators are still with us. We are confident that we shall provide the same or better quality projects in future. Once again please accept our apologies and hope that you will give us another chance in future.

    bathroom reno

They redid the bathroom and had to remove everything in the room, reconfigure it and put in a new subfloor. Sandra has great taste so that is helpful in terms of the design. We went shopping, chose all the furnishings and Sandra had designer drop in a layout and had them fit everything in. The design included a vanity and they did an okay job – I’m not completely satisfied with the vanity; nothing is wrong with it, it’s just not what I was expecting. I think the wrong sink showed up and the design had to be re-jigged a bit. Matt was here and he was the key guy, he was great and my son kept following him around.

    bathroom

They did my bathroom. I had a bathtub and I got rid of it and now I have a shower with a bench. It's very handy for me. I have a nice cabinet with the sink. I have a new toilet. They gutted everything out. They broke the floors, the ceilings and the walls. They did a good job. I love it. When I go in my bathroom, I feel like I stepped in to a catalogue. Everyone who comes loves it. I was so pleased with the work.

    Two bathrooms

I was very satisfied with it. I hired them to do two bathrooms. They did things when they said they would. There were some delays but those were mostly because of the subcontractors.

    complete reno of condo

They do very good work. There's no doubt about that and I am quite picky about how that stuff is done. They did a complete renovation of a condominium. We did major work which included bathrooms, kitchens, flooring and everything painted. They did a good job. If I had one caution as a client, it would be to make sure that you know who is going to supervise your work and how often they might be there in order to provide supervision to the group. If we had a problem, and we didn't have any big ones, that would be where we had a problem.

    Answer from pro:

Barbra is right in that our company did have a supervisor who did not meet our high standards of workmanship and thus supervision suffered. Our workman can produce top quality workmanship and if the supervision falls below our customer's expectations we get a bad name. Said supervisor was let go once we realised that our customers were not happy with him.

    Rebuilt our porch, structural work

They rebuilt our porch and did some structural work. They exposed some brick in the inner mudroom that comes off the porch. We liked the finished product, we get a lot of compliments from the neighbours. The work was well done and there was a lot of checking in with us, which was good, and anything we were concerned about was addressed fairly promptly. Sandra is very professional and had some artistic suggestions. We went with some of her suggestions and we were very happy with them.

    Kitchen, Two Small Bathrooms

It was the personal and professional approach of Sandra Baldwin that told me this was the right company to undertake my renovation of two bathrooms and a kitchen in my downtown Toronto condo. At the start, I wasn't perfectly clear what I wanted, but Sandra took me on numerous shopping trips to select the various components that make up a renovation. She always took into account what I liked and would give her opinion on colours and designs when asked. If she though I was on the wrong track, she would diplomatically suggest what she thought would work well. I found her suggestions very helpful since I'm not a designer. It took time to find the right stain for the kitchen cabinets but Mooza Wordworking came through with flying colours in that regard. The contractor, subs and crew were on-time, diligent and very skillful in transforming two plain small bathrooms and a kitchen to modern beautiful spaces. I enjoyed working with the whole team. Their philosophy is that "if you don't think something is right, let us know and we'll make it right." There were a very small number of minor things that I wanted fixed and they were always happy to do it and to make sure I was pleased. Hector did the bulk of the work and the quality of his work was outstanding. The work was done on time and budget and the end-of-day cleanup was always well done. Hector takes pride in his work and suggested a few innovative ideas that he enjoyed carrying out and definitely added to the project. I would highly recommend A Lifetime Contractor and would definitely use them again if I were to do another renovation.

    Downstairs Powder Room

Last fall this company built this for me. They were on time and budget. They were courteous and clean. They discovered knob and tube wiring while doing the job and I chose not to use their electrical sub-contractor for this electrical work, Most impressively they came back on the day promised to complete the original job. I am now talking to them about other work. It was a pleasure to use Sandra and her team.

    Sunroom Addition

In February of 2012 we commenced Phase 2 of the project --- demolition of the old porch and construction of a new sunroom. Sandra introduced me to Vaughan who would be the on-site foreman for the job. Work got underway and very quickly the old porch was gone except for the roof that was supported by jacks as per our plan to maintain the look and feel of the house. The steel piles were drilled for the foundation and a form was built for the concrete pad which would become the floor. The concrete was poured and allowed to cure. Next, the framing was done and the room started to take shape. About this time, Sandra and I had a wonderful day outing to select windows, brick, and flooring. I was so appreciative to have Sandra’s knowledge and expertise in helping me select these important elements for the new room. Work continued with the closing in of the walls and the application of polyurethane foam insulation. A desired design feature of the room was a vaulted ceiling which would be constructed of tongue-and-grove wood stained to match the colour of the trim in the rest of the home. The low height of the room and the desire to have a light/fan fixture made the vaulted ceiling even more necessary. The ceiling is stunning and has exceeded my expectations! We had talked about doing a brick veneer, but Sandra and I had difficulty sourcing this as everyone seemed to prefer stone veneer now. As I wanted the exterior to match the rest of the home, stone was not an option and so we opted for using real bricks that had to be cut and laid individually. The brick layers did a fantastic job of matching the look of the addition with the rest of the house. The windows I chose with Sandra were Pella with venetian blinds built into the glass. As these were special order, they took a bit longer to manufacture and put a delay on the schedule. It was well worth the wait as the windows are perfect! For comfort, the floor has in-floor heating underneath a beautiful Maple hardwood floor. In addition a gas-stove in a brown enamel finish provides the heat. I do have the room wired for the possible addition of electric heaters in the future. The painting and trim work were all done by Sandra’s team and reflect their commitment to quality. The new sunroom is now a reality and is everything I dreamed it would be and more! I can enjoy the room all year and it has become a focal point of my home. The exterior of the room has exceeded my expectations in looking like it has always been part of the house. Sandra and her entire team were just wonderful to work with and I knew I was in good hands throughout the entire project. I have had a number of neighbours ask me who I had do my renovation and I tell them with pleasure that it was Sandra and her team at Lifetime Contractors. I would definitely use them again in the future and highly recommend them. They really do take care in what they do and I felt that they were designing and building a home that they would want to live in.

    2 Bathroom Renovations

Lifetime Contractor gave our family the best renovation experience we've ever had. From the first conceptual meetings where honest budgeting and clear timelines were discussed through well-advised shopping trips to the last coat of paint we felt secure and confident in our choice. The contractor and crew were respectful, punctual and extremely skillful in bringing our dreams to a beautiful reality. It was also comforting to know that Lifetime Contractor are green renovators and take the time to teach and mentor future trades. Thanks to everyone at Lifetime for returning pride to our home.
