Our house is 100 years old; the bathrooms had not been renovated in over 30 years. We had done some of the design work and material selection prior to finding a contractor. We were intent on finding an honest and meticulous contractor that was willing to work with the plans we had created. When Mark first came to visit the house, he spent several hours discussing the details of the plan and the details of his construction methods. Mark was able instil a confidence in us that other contractors were incapable of doing. After we officially hired Mark, he helped us to make some improvements to the plans; he and his crew then proceeded to build two beautiful and highly functional bathrooms. We are exceedingly happy with the end results and we will not hesitate to hire Mark again for other projects. ## If you are considering hiring Mark, this is what you should expect: Mark is always honest. Mark almost always answers his phone. He is always willing to talk. He is always both friendly and accommodating. Mark and his crew all have an in depth knowledge of Canadian building codes and construction techniques. Mark generally likes to build well above the minimum building codes; he takes pride in his work and he wants everything he builds to last a very long time. Mark genuinely wants to see that his customers are happy during and after the renovation. ## This is a brief summary of the renovation work that we had done: -New plywood installed to strengthen sub-floor. -Relocation of light fixtures and new electrical wiring. -Full height wall replaced with knee wall. -New tile & glass shower enclosure (includes: thermostatic shower valve, linear drain, rain head, LED lights, niche, & foot rest). -Sleek new BainUltra tub with heated air jets and heated back rest. -Heated flooring. -Porcelain tiles on floor and walls (the tile work is stunning!). -Horizontal bands of solid quartz added as an accent material in shower and bath areas (this was an idea that Mark had suggested; we are very pleased with the result). -Solid stainless steel tile edging. -New vanities with beautiful quartz countertops and under-mount sinks. -New fibreglass window frames with quartz jambs. -Recessed medicine cabinet. -New Toto toilets. -New closet doors.

We came to Mark with a need to re-design our laundry room into a configuration to include a mud room with accessibility and safety being the priority. Given the space was oddly laid out and space limited, it took some creativity. Also, we needed to modify our powder room bathroom and 1 upstairs bathroom to suit the special needs person however keeping home integrity. Tall order. Mark and company delivered incredible results! We cannot review them high enough. The contractors used were professional and friendly. Rob, the main tradesman, is an artist in his work. Mark managed the project skillfully and timely. For families looking to invest in their homes for bang on results, look no further. We found this company on homestars and opted to believe in others reviews. So grateful we did! Ahton Renovations has completed several projects for us. The last project was a bathroom renovation about a year ago. Recently we experienced a serious water leak in our main drain which caused substantial damage. This was in no way caused by Ashton Renovations. Our first call was to Mark Ashton who immediately came to our home to help us deal with the issue. Mark also made seveal follow up phone calls to ensure that he we were dealing with the issue properly. Mark was genuinely concerned about our situation and wanted to help as much as he could. His help and service was far beyond what we expected. We would strongly recommend Ashton Renovations.

Mark and his team were amazing to work with. They pretty much renovated our entire house. We have received many compliments on the quality of work. They paid attention to tiny details that we didnt even think of. Mark kept us up to date on the progress of our project and retained excellent professionals to complete work in our house. We felt very comfortable working with Mark. All of the people that Mark sent to work in our home were great--respectful and paid attention to detail. We would definitely contact Mark for future projects and wouldnt hesitate to recommend him.

Our builder-built master ensuite shower needed replacement after only 5 years in use. We retained Ashton Renovations for the work following review of company website and discussions with Mark. We were pleased with Mark's professionalism and impressed with the initial design and his suggestions for the shower. The workmanship on the shower was excellent and we are very happy with the final product. The work was undertaken very cleanly and with minimal disturbance to the rest of the house. We would use Ashton on any future work

I've used Ashton Renovations on previous projects and was happy with the quality of the work. I hired Mark back to update an old porch and to landscape the front yard. The porch was covered with limestone, a cedar railing and staircase was added, an interlocking pathway was laid leading up to the staircase and a new flower garden was added with hedges, stones and plants. They paid attention to details such as overhanging the limestone and creating a drip edge as well as slopping the walkway to ensure water runs off away from the house. I'm very happy with the result of the project and I am likley to hire back Ashton Renovations for future projects. Thanks for a great job!

Mark Ashton and his crew fixed the mistakes of a previous contractor who had left us with a kitchen nightmare! We were so skeptical of contractors prior to finding Ashton renovations. Mark put in a beautiful cork floor, leveled out our counter tops and re-installed all of our cupboards. They also installed new lighting and finished off the renovation with new baseboards and paint. This was all done for a reasonable price! We can't thank Ashton renovations enough for making our kitchen such a beautiful space. We were skeptical of contractors after our kitchen problems so our recommendation of Mark Ashton does not come lightly. If you want your renovation done right the first time - go with Ashton Renovations.

Ashton Renovations did a remarkable job on my new bathroom and several other jobs in my new house. The work has been done very professionally within the time and budget discussed. After meeting with several contractors the choice was clear, Mark provided a detailed quote with costs itemized, timelines and potential of additional expense and areas of concern. Throughout the project Mark ensured I was kept informed and involved in the decision making. The project remained on schedule and budget. I most appreciated the crew’s attention to detail and how clean they kept the worksite. The project involved renovating a kitchen in a 100+ year old home, this in itself created limitations but Mark was focused on providing my contemporary design while appreciating the character/nuances of an older home. I would have no hesitation recommending Mark and his crew to anyone considering renovations and I would hope to complete another project with Ashton Renovations in the future.

Having lived through various renovations (kitchen, main floor bathroom, hallway and family room using recommended contractors from family and friends through the years the results and experiences were not always pleasant! We delayed a needed renovation to our ensuite bathroom as we did not have confidence in a contractor. We turned to Homestars and found Ashton Renovations ranked very highly and decided to interview the owner Mark Ashton. We were impressed with his professionalism, honesty, and communication skills. We hired Mark Ashton having complete confidence in his abilities of himself and his crew. We were not let down by him and his team! It was an extensive undertaking and even included some unforeseen repairs to the original plumbing, insulation and vapour barrier. Work was also done to relocate a heating vent and repair floor joists in the shower. Our new bathroom now includes a stand alone tub, with a glass enclosed shower that has opened up the previously cramped space. The shower features a rainhead, shower arm, and thermostatic control with Caesarstone thresholds and shelving. The double wall hung vanity and cabinet also add to the modern simplicity of the design. Because the bathroom has two exterior walls we also opted to include a Flextherm in floor heating to ensure our comfort in the space. We believe the real beauty of this bathroom is the contrasting colours and simplicity of the design. The renovation turned out better then we ever had dreamed of even with the unexpected problems that were found in our existing bathroom. We highly recommend Ashton Renovations!
