I chose Ashton Renovations from 3 contractors I received quotes from, largely on the basis of the sense of trust that Mark engendered when we met. Mark gave the most detailed quote and was careful to explain the limitation and constraints that would be faced in renovating my 90 year bathroom and gave me good awareness of some potential areas that might lead to additional cost during the work (eg. potential for asbestos). Overall, the renovation went smoothly, and any issues were resolved to my satisfaction and Mark consistently followed up when anything wasn't going according to plan to ensure a resolution. I was quite comfortable to have his work crew in the house when I wasn't home and felt that things were in good hands with Mark at the helm. The renovation did take longer than initially expected, but this was offset by the good workmanship and additional work that was put in to deal with problems that arose (eg part of the ceiling below the bathroom came down due to fragility from prior water damage and this was very effectively repaired). The final bathroom looks wonderful and is much more functional than the old one. Mark gave several good suggestions that helped ensure a cohesive design that is sympathetic to the age of the house, while providing total modern convenience. I would be happy to recommend Ashton Renovations to friends and family.

We discovered Ashton Renovations while doing research on HomeStars for a reputable company… We met Mark and proceeded to work with him and his team. We are very satisfied with his knowledge, professionalism and work ethic. He was extremely responsive to our calls and questions. The new kitchen turned out beautifully as did all the hardwood floors throughout the house. We looked at a variety of closet organizing systems but were finding them to be very expensive. Mark Ashton, our contractor suggested the Easy Track hanging closet system. It was half the cost of the other options, it came in a variety of finishes and had lots of options. Since it hangs on the wall, it's more economical than structures that sit on the floor. The online design tool allows you to plan exactly how you want your closet to look. We ordered the system through Ashton Renovations, an Easy Track distributor and got a great deal. Installation went smoothly. They paid attention to detail and did a top notch installation. Very pleased with the results

We hired Mark to renovate our kitchen. Mark was very helpful in making suggestions for products and directing us to the appropriate retail locations. He also returned our calls promptly. We are extremely happy with the finished product and would use Ashton Renovations again if needed.

Thanks to HomeStars we were introduced to Mark Ashton and his team. We had heard and read of some horror stories out there but we're happy to say that Mark is the real deal. His team did an amazing job with our recent kitchen project. His team was clean, punctual and did quality work. He's also got a deep list of trusted sub trades that work with the same efficiency that he does. Everything came in within budget and we're very happy with the end result. We worked on a kitchen a few years ago with Mark Ashton and were extremely impressed. So when it came time to landscape our backyard and put in a stone patio there were no questions about who we would call. And Mark and his team did another outstanding job. They worked with us to schedule the project and brought some great ideas to the table – including how we could maximize our budget and how we could landscape the backyard to create a comfortable and usable space. As with our first project, Mark's team kept to the timelines, kept our home clean and tidy and kept us informed throughout the project. We had lots of opportunity to give input and they had excellent suggestions along the way. What impressed us – in addition to Mark's excellent communication skills and site management – is that his company can handle a variety of projects – inside and outside the home. We are already planning a third renovation to our home and are planning to work with Mark again.

The most important thing to know about Mark is the importance he places on a perfect finished product. While some renovators will finish to 95%, collect their cash and go, Mark will identify punch list items that even the homeowner did not think about to ensure full satisfaction. I was happy to find Ashton because my needs were not of a complete reno because my kitchen was mostly done. I had a series of punchlist items; I needed new flooring in my kitchen and foyer as well as lighting upgrades and a solution to save some space and get my microwave up above the stove. This was a challenge because I had a bulkhead at the top of the cupboards leaving only so much room. Ashton was able to efficiently contract out a number of different trades and complete all areas of the updates with a good final product. My kitchen floor was builder's quality ceramic and I was unsure how to update it because chipping out the ceramic would be expensive and possibly damaging to my cabinetry. Mark suggested cork to lay over the ceramic. I can't say how happy I am with the cork. He navigates around cupboards and was able to install under appliances to create a finished look as if it was the original flooring. For the microwave, he gave me several options for cabinetry with different cost levels. I chose a midrange solution with a custom 8 inch cabinet that molds around the oven vent to salvage some storage and create aesthetic appeal. Mark is an easy going guy who does all he can to adapt to the needs of his clients and their preferred way to work. I'd be happy to recommend him to a friend who is looking for a professional and clean looking finish to their job.

Wonderfully pleased with all aspects of reno - communication, timeliness, cost, and all personnel. Mark completed all work beyond our expectations. We hope to be able to work with him again, soon.

We highly recommend Mark and his team for their professionalism, punctuality, quality and full concept service. They provided an accurate estimate for our bathroom that worked within our budget (No surprises!). We also were particularly pleased with their full service from the design of the bathroom, to recommending & purchasing the materials, and finally installing the entire bathroom in a timely and well orchestrated manner. We are extremely pleased with our renovation project. Mark and his team did a fabulous job on our bathroom and kitchen so we expanded the project to include the family room too. Mark was very professional and provided us with a detailed, written contract. Where appropriate he steered us towards cost-effective alternatives which kept us on budget without sacrificing quality. He was very proactive in keeping us informed on the progress of our projects. (Mark was very easy to reach by phone - we never had to chase him.) Not only did he steer us away from un-necessary expenses during our renovation, he also was very helpful in finding cost effective solutions to problems which developed during the renovation process – especially when renovation a 90 year old house.
