Review from HomeOwner Review left on 24 Sep 2013Rating: 1 out of 5It was my first time buying hardwood floors. I went to the Brampton location and selected the country walnut after seeing the big sample board display and getting reassurance from the sales lady that "what u see is what you get - not much variation." she went on to blabber about how the product I selected is high end - only for expensive houses and how i will be very happy etc etc. She does not have any patience and in the words of other customers - "its all about getting the sale". Anyway, when the installer opened the box at home - there were many completely washed out or "white" pieces that will really look odd in the walnut floor. I went back to the store in Brampton and spoke to the lady who now say that country walnut is like that and avoided us when we asked why she told us differently. Now they will not take "opened boxes back". then there is a 15% restocking fee if we returned the whole lot. I spoke to Vince - who is apparently the store manager. Vince bluntly told me that I "should have done my homework and know that country walnut can come with many imperfections - shapes, color, length etc." No explanation would help. We had to use the wood and throw away all the white pieces. I was very worried as another 15 boxes or so of another country grade hardwood colour was also bought and was not picked up as yet. I tried to do a simple paper return as the boxes never left the building but they will still charge the 15% restocking fee, I eventfully had to pay this fee. I was told that "Visa and Mastercard charges the store 5% in fee" even if they do a refund! I felt misguided, violated and stupid. I will never recommend this company to anyone,Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Review left on 18 Sep 2013Rating: 0 out of 5installation of solid maple hardwood flooring to 2 rooms
Although the product I was sold is lovely, I found the sales person rushing me but reassuring me how happy I would be once installed. She asked me if I wanted the flooring installed. I said yes and she gave me a quote. Never once did she indicate that the installation would be done then anyone other than BH. She also told me that I should have the proper amount ready for cash payment once it was installed. She was to call me to let me know when the installation was to take place. I had to phone her twice to find out. Then when it was installed she called a week after it was in to arrange the installation again. The sales person name was Javana. She arranged the installation which was done by Brampton Hardwood floors and the installers name was Mike. Mike drove up in a van that had the Brampton Hardwood floors information and logo on it. I was happy to see that as it gave me confidence that was an indication that it was their professional installer putting in the flooring. The installation was the part I am most disappointed in. There are nail holes and cracks in the hardwood that are noticeable because the "door rail" or what I would equate to quarter round did not cover these installation flaws. The duct covers no longer fit anymore and a board has popped since the installation. The installer definately lacked attention to detail. Please see the photos I have attached. I had to leave a large solid wood harvest table in the room as it was too big to move and at one point they had tools and the strips of wood sitting on my table! I cleaned it off and set sheets over it. In the meantime I have sent photos to BHF along with emails, told the sales person about the installation experience and I have not head back from them. I have since tried to fill in the holes myself and make the cracks less noticeable.Answer from pro:
Thank you for your review Lynn, we are happy to hear you like the product we sold you. We are sorry to hear things didn't go as planned with the installation. As you know we are retailers who do not provide installation services. We do provide names of independent installation companies if a customer asks. Your feedback is useful to us so that we can give the best recommendations going forward. Again we are sorry to hear the installation wasn't to your satisfaction, you will need to follow up with your installer to rectify any deficiencies.

SIMILAR EXPERIENCE LIKE THAT OF SHERRY FROM MILTON, DATED JULY 26, 13. THERE WAS AN ERROR IN CALCULATION AND HAD TO RETURN LAMINATE FLOORING - 9 BOXES, LAST WEEK. THE LADY AT CUSTOMER SERVICE SENT ME TO THE WAREHOUSE AND THE QUANTITY WAS TAKEN BACK. HOWEVER WHEN I WENT BACK IN TO DO THE PRICE ADJUSTMENT, THE SAME LADY MADE ME WAIT, ENTERTAINING OTHER FOLKS WITH THEIR SALES WHO CAME IN AFTER ME, DIRECTING INSIDE STAFF TO DO OTHER WORK. EVERYTIME SHE ORDERED OR ASSISTED OTHERS SHE WOULD TURN TO ME AND SAY "SORRY". THIS HAPPENED ATLEAST THREE TO FOUR TIMES. ATLAST MY BILL WAS SETTLED AND 15% WAS CHARGED AS RESTOCKING FEE. THE POINT IS IF BRAMPTON HARDWOOD IS CHARGING RESTOCKING FEE THAN BE COURTEOUS TOWARDS THE CUSTOMERS WHO AE RETURNING STOCK FOR OBVIOUS ERRORS, WHEN SELLING ITEMS YOU'RE HAPPY TO HELP BUT LOOKED LIKE RETURNS ARE BURDENS, REMEMBER WE ARE PAYING YOU FOR RESTOCKING!! MY CONTRACTOR HAD ALSO ASKED ME TO BY A BOX OF UNFINISHED OAK FLOORING 31/2 x3/4, I ASKED THE SAME LADY IF I COULD BUY IT, SHE SEEMED TO BE CONFUSED AND SAID 3/4 x3/4? The REPLY WAS 31/2x3/4, I WAS NOW ALREADY RUNNING LATE AND JUST WALKED AWAY..PLEASE TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WELL AND BE REASONABLEAnswer from pro:
Mario, we at Brampton Hardwood Floors are very sorry that you feel you weren't treated with the utmost customer service when returning your extra product. The pillars of our success in becoming the largest hardwood flooring store in Ontario over the past 30-years in business are our huge selection of in stock quality products at the lowest prices, and our first class customer service. As you can surely appreciate, with about 30,000 customers a year buying hardwood from us, our showroom can sometimes get quite hectic. Our excellent sales staff always try to do their best to deal with everyone punctually and fairly. It is not always easy for them to equally split their attention to many different customers at once who may be asking questions, paying for their purchases, picking up their products or even making returns as you were. Nonetheless, they do a great job and with a little patience, everyone is taken care of with courtesy and respect. We hope you understand, and we take great pride that you were happy with the top quality hardwood flooring that you bought from us at the lowest price around.

It took longer than originally expected to pickup all parts of the invoice, 2 years longer in fact. They were terrific. They found the original invoice and I picked up the balance of the order. They are always friendly and helpful with installation advice as well as best material selection. Warehouse staff is always in good spirits. Highly recommended.Answer from pro:
Hi Andrew. As you know, it wasn't easy finding all your paperwork and product after such a long period of time, but we were happy to go the extra mile to get it done for you. Excellent customer service should have no bounds, including time limits. Enjoy your new floor!

BAD BAD COMPANY TO DEAL BUY SOME WOOD FROM THEM,HAD TO CHANGE THE AMOUNT CAUSED I ORDER MORE THAN O NEEDED SO WENT THE NEXT DAY TO CHANGE THE AMOUNTAND WANTED TO CHARGE ME RESTOCK FEEAnswer from pro:
We at Brampton Hardwood Flooring are very sorry that Sherry feels this way. As our customer's have come to know, almost everything we sell in our store is in stock in one of our two giant warehouses. We differ from our competitors as our on hand inventory is the largest in Ontario, so that in addition to the best prices our customers can also enjoy the added value of "cash and carry", which means not having to wait for their wood to be ordered and delivered to the store. To maintain this benefit for our customers, we have a large staff of warehouse employees that right after purchase will pick the order from one of our warehouses, prepare the boxes for pickup or delivery, and then move the completed order to a separate area away from the general inventory. This occurs whether the customer is picking up right away, or at a later date (to ensure that the product will not mistakenly be sold to another customer). We of course cover the cost of this service for our customers, and only ask in return that the customer does their part and ensures that the measured quantities purchased are accurate. If not, our work doubles when an order changes after being picked, prepared and set aside. When a customer makes an error in calculation and then wishes to correct it, we of course wish we were able to cover the additional expense even without any fault on our part. However, to do so would increase our overhead to the extent that we could no longer provide the same great prices and service that our business has become famous for over almost 30 years. Thus, we have no alternative but to charge a small restocking fee to cover this added expense. The restocking fee is not a surprise to our customers, as it is well publicized on signs throughout the store, on the counter of the cash-out desk and on the sales receipt. We always try to do all we can to accommodate all of our customers, including Sherry. We hope she can understand our position and we wish her all the best.
