Margarida is an excellent interior designer to work with. She listened very carefully to my wishes and incorporated them into the finished product. She was always punctual and responded promptly when urgent decisions were required. She is a delightful person and very talented in her field.

We have a somewhat open concept living room/dining room/kitchen. Over the years we have renovated the bedrooms and bathroom in our bungalow. But when it came time to renovate the main living area, we had no clue what to do. We asked various family members and we got totally different ideas. We were so confused. After flipping through pictures online I found that my favourite ones were all from Chic decor. I decided to hire Margarida to come in and take a look at the space and give us an idea of what we should and shouldn't do. She gave us so many beautiful ideas , I can't wait to incorporate them in the space. Thank you so much Margarida for all of your help and knowledge. I recommended you to everyone I know.

As first-time home-owners, we felt overwhelmed by how much needed to be done to our house in terms of decorating and design. Some rooms were in desperate need of a design update, others simply needed decorating to make our house feel like a comfortable home. We decided to seek the assistance of an interior designer and chose Margarida after reading so many positive referrals for her online. Our first collaboration with her was decorating our family room in order to turn it into a cozy, multi-functional space. Margarida helped us select a sophisticated, yet fun colour palette, came up with storage ideas to hide the clutter of two young children, and addressed the functionality of the room by assisting us with the design of a desk to be built in to an existing alcove. She was able to provide us with contacts for both a seamstress and carpenter with whom she had worked before. The results were fabulous, and it’s now not only the most used room in our home, but also our favorite room. We next tackled the complete renovation of two very old bathrooms that desperately needed updating. The challenge was to make the very small bathrooms functional, and as airy as possible, while maximizing storage space. We relied on Margarida’s advice on every aspect of these renovations – from layout, to lighting, tile choices, fixtures, and even accessories. In addition to designing two absolutely beautiful bathrooms, Margarida also made sure to address our family’s needs – in our case, bathrooms that would grow with us as our young children grow up. Though we know what we like in design, we often find ourselves hindered by indecision when it comes to actually proceeding with a renovation, or at other times, overwhelmed by the number of choices and options. Consulting with Margarida gives us confidence in our ideas and choices, and advice and guidance when needed. We are thrilled with the results of the projects that Margarida has worked with us on. We would not hesitate to use her again in the future as we tackle new renovation projects. Throughout our dealings with her, she has always been punctual, patient and extremely professional. We highly recommend her.

I had a wonderful experience working with Margarida! I gutted a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo and she took a lot of my anxiety away when it came to pulling the whole look of the place together. I had complete confidence in her ability to make the right decisions. She listened carefully to my preferences and then made recommendations for choices and then let me pick. I really liked this approach because it gave me some control without having to deal with the stress of making a mistake. Margarida helped me with countertops, tile, paint, light fixtures, carpet and furniture. The place is absolutely gorgeous and my friends can't get over how wonderful it looks! Thank you Margarida!

Margarida helped us put together a plan to renovate our kitchen as well as a long term plan for future renovations of our main floor. Her expertise in design created a flow from the kitchen outward. Margarida helped us select cabinets and colour, backsplash, hardware, a beautiful quartz counter top, lighting, create the design of a new island, and many more detials. She even encouraged us to keep our tiled floor which would complement the new kitchen. That saved us a huge expense! We love that Margarida knows what to keep and what to toss to keep within budget. Since we purchased our home 10 years ago, I cannot recall a year where we didn’t undertake some form of renovation. A few of these projects were major, others not so much. Some we were happy with, others left something to be desired, and with those we opted for a redo shortly after completion. I often thought of engaging a designer but never did. Instead, we wasted thousands of dollars on redo’s of renovations themselves, furniture replacement, etc. We made very costly mistakes by not having the necessary experience and imagination to ensure our efforts were not in vain and our investment was sound. However, last year, when I was particularly baffled with how to remodel one particular room, I finally decided to make the leap. I reviewed Home Stars and found Margarida (Chic Décor). Am I ever glad I did. My original thoughts for the room involved hefty renovations – adding walls, moving windows, etc. It would have been a small fortune. However, after assessing the room and our options, she presented a very unique design that addressed all of my challenges. Not only did she make the room look fantastic (design, colour, furniture, accessories), she saved me an incredible amount of money. I also asked Margarida to help me decide on a colour for my new front door. The one she suggested was one I never would have visualized for my home, but I decided to take her advice given the amazing work she had already done for me. Am I ever glad I did. It is not unusual for strangers to ring my doorbell to find out who installed my gorgeous door. Margarida doesn’t work alone. She makes it easy to bring her designs to life by partnering with a wide array of talented professionals who are highly competent, courteous and so much a pleasure to work with. These days I’m actually sad to see a project end because I will simply miss working with these wonderful people – I guess it’s time for the next renovation!!! I turned to Margarida for guidance with my new house and she didn’t let me down. Within a short time, she had made amazing suggestions on what type of furniture to get, what colours would work and how to decorate the rooms. She very quickly understood the look I was going for and I am very happy with the results. I was most impressed with Margarida’s dedication to helping me pick out the right pieces. She sat down with me to pick out furniture/décor online and then even met me at a furniture store to ensure what we selected online would work together. I definitely recommend Chic Decor and will be continuing to use their services to spruce up the décor in the coming years.

Working with Margarida was excellent in every way. Her professionalism is of the highest order as she efficiently and effectively works with the many variables and details involved in any interior design project. My experience with her was always satisfying. She is an astute listener and I loved the way she capably worked with what I already own, showing me new ways enjoy it, as well as recommending new purchases where needed. Although there is a significant cost for great advice on how to decorate one's home, I always felt it was worth every cent as it saved me a ton of time and indecision. I am more than pleased with the end result and would recommend Margarida's services to anyone interested in achieving a beautifully finished home.

I had met Margarida through my daughter who had used her services for her kitchen, living and dining rooms. I liked what I saw. I asked her to come to my home and to do a consultation. She suggested going the way of a contemporary style. The interior hadn’t had any work done to it for 20 years and I needed an update. I wanted to start in the family room first. We had a brick fireplace that I didn’t want to be removed and I didn’t want it painted either, so Margarida suggested that we cover it, which was new to me. Well I have to tell you that I was very impressed with my new fireplace. It is fantastic and the focal point in the room. The contractor she hired to do my fireplace was very reputable. Well from there I went with new sofas, accessories, and artwork. I’ve had so many compliments from family and friends, on the rooms that were redone. Last year we worked on the exterior of the house. New front door and repainted the garage door and shutters, the transformation looks stunning. When we shop for accessories I like the way Margarida works with my likes and dislikes. She gives me options that work and look good. When I first thought of getting an interior designer I thought I would just get the walls painted and it would look OK. Never did I imagine the transformation of the whole house would look this beautiful. As of today I am working on completing my master bedroom and en-suite. I find Margarida honest, professional, excellent on colour selections, and very easy to contact either by phone or e-mail. I would highly recommend her to anyone that was interested in decorating their home.

I had never hired a decorator before, so this was a new experience for me. Margarida was great. She works with your style and taste in decor and doesn't try to sway you towards something else. She helped me pick paints colors for the whole house, new lighting, back splash for the kitchen, rug for the dining room and new furniture, rug and custom book shelves for the family room. The trades people that she recommended were very professional, dependable and did excellent work. I would not hesitate to hire her again for future projects or recommend her to friends.
