Dream home nightmare! That's what the TV show will be titled when someone purchases that home. That house was the perfect example of one of those homes that you see on TV where people thought it looked nice, bought it, and now they are trapped with debt up to their necks. Thank you so much Mieka for taking the time and leaving a review! To pull up in the driveway of that home, one would think, "Wow, this is it, our dream home". Could you imagine the money that's going to be shelled out for that place? I remember looking down the floor drain and seeing tree roots coming up and thinking, “I sure hope they have a big budget in repairs for this home". It seemed like every single thing in that home was in need of repairs, yet to look at it you would think there wasn’t much. I'm sure it was tough to walk away from that place, but you did the right thing. Let someone else take on the headache. I know there's one out there with your name on it! Thanks again Mieka! It's one of those character homes that you've just got to love. I'm sure you will too. Isn't that funny that the electrician told the home owner (and charged her) there is no more knob and tube wire in the home. I wonder what he said when he came back to see it all...and an electrician would be the first one to say that home inspectors "don't know anything". Bea!!! Thank you so much for that review! I should be hiring you for my marketing manager!!! Well gee, I'm glad that you were happy with the inspection. You know it's funny, I hear so many stories of people telling me things that their other home inspector missed, and I think to myself, how could he have missed something that big?! A realtor told me yesterday that she went with the pre-listing inspection report provided by a large home inspection company and no-where on the report did it have any mention of a bunch of asbestos (that was very obvious) in the home. She called the company, spoke to the Vice President, and he basically said "to bad so sad for her client". (who bought the home based on the pre-listing report). They had no interest whatsoever of maybe trying to make things a little better. None whatsoever. Not bad customer service eh? I would be out of business if I had that attitude. Thanks so much Bruce for the kind words and review! Bruce, when I read your comment, "it’s difficult to know the nature and the true qualifications" of an inspector I couldn't agree more. When I look at some of my competitors, I think to myself, is this guy kidding me? The one "qualification" that seems to be popular right now with home inspectors is "Master Inspector" ... that's sounds great, but there is no such title. It's a made up term. This qualification is about as valid as a three-dollar-bill. Of course when you're dealing with an unregulated industry I guess we can call ourselves what we want. If it makes them feel better so be it. I'll I care is that you're happy with the inspection. Bruce, again thank you so much, and thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections!
