roof leak - replaced shingles on small roof area and put down leak barrier

They showed up next day to do estimate, price was half what the 'big name' contractors quoted. They said they could do the work within 3 weeks (which was what I requested) but actually were able to come and do it within a few days. They were very neat - all old shingles went right into the back of their truck - not the ground. An inspector came the next day to check out the work.

    change roofing

They did the job in a couple of hours. They cleaned the area, but left some shingles. The only problem was I had to ask for the invoices three times until they mail it Their job is very good

    Re-roof and new eves trough

I just had my shingles replaced and new eves trough installed. Chevy who quoted for this job took the time to carefully measure everything and did not leave anything unanswered in this quote. The complete job was completed on time, and the work was excellent. The crew was very professional and courteous. Originally when I received the quote, I thought that it was high....but the more research I did, it was clear that there were no hidden costs...everything was upfront! They also were the only company that took Mastercard that I received quotes from which was really convenient. Highly recommend Cornell Roofing!

New roof in the cold of January

We lost 25 shingles and feared bad leaks as a bad windstorm hit in early January/09. I previously had found these guys at Cornell and on their site, I think I had learned they did winter work, which impressed me. I had their detailed quote already on file, so I called them; got hold of Cole, who was new to me. I liked him right off. He was a straight shooter. I respected that and he said he would drop by and have a look to see what damage may need a temporary repair. This was a big plus as who knew what was up there? He was on time, his manner and demeanor were very positive, very much indicating we would be well served and he proceeded up on the roof, did some temporay work and then left. No charge, no talk of money changing hands. Professional: said what he would do and did it! Said he would move the work up a few days to prevent delays, as the roof warranted it and this is what occurred. The job took two days, special precautions with tarps were necessary as it snowed on the second day. They got on with it, our fears re possible leaks and damage were relieved. We are very happy with a job done under conditions which most firms do not even want to operate. Cole was great to work with and did not disappoint us. I left the colour match to them. It is even better that what we had and Cole installed an extra vent to allow for better air flow as this is what kills the shingles from underneath: heat. If anyone needs a roof, I would recommend they speak to these men. I think you will be better for the experience.

    Re-roofing and replace Eavestrough

Two years ago. My house needed a minor fix on the roof. I tried to contact several roofers. Cornell was the only one who did not mind that this was a small job. Mike came right away and prepare a quote for me. After accepted the quotation, Mike arranged someone to come and fix the roof. They did a good job on the fixing. Early this year, my neighbour and I have decided to re-roof and replace eavestrough. I tried to contact several roofers again. This time, I have 2 houses for the roofer to work on. Hopefully, the roofers will have a better respond. However, only Cornell and one roofer call back. Cornell is the first one who come right a way and prepare a quotation. The other roofer come a week later after I provide the information. Compare to the two quotations. Mike gives me a better deal. Re-roofing is a big job and I need to be caution. I can not pick the roofer base on price. I need to find out how is the workmanship. So, I ask both roofers to provide references. Only Cornell willing to provide references. I go to visit each house and check the roof. I even discuss with the owner. All of the owners told me the same thing. Cornell did a very good job. Before, I sign the quotation. I have send dozen of email to Mike. Asking different questions about reroofing. Mike is very patient with me. Answer all the email and explain in detail. Finally, me and my neighbour sign the quotation. Mike did a very good job. Me and my neighbour are very happy for what he had done. The reason I do not give him a 10 is because they are very bad job on administration. I have requested Mike to send me a receipt. I take forever to get the recepit. When I recevie the mail from Cornell. It is a invoice instead of a receipt. The invoice is showing the amount due without the payment information. I call Mike right a way. He said he would let Dave know and send me the invoice again with the payment information. It takes another 3 weeks to get the mail from Cornell. This time I receive a quotation with Paid in Full and signed by Dave. This is not what I expected! Anyway, a invoice and a qoutation with Paid in Full will be ok for the Tax refund. The only thing Cornell need to improve is how to prepare Invoice and receipt. Please don't let the customer to wait forever. Anyway, they did a very good job. I will recommend Cornell to anyone who need to reroof.

    Roof Reshingling

I wrote a similar review about a month ago. That review has hanged in the system as "pending" for over a month, so I am writing a new one to replace it. I am happy with Cornell's workmanship. We contracted them back in spring to reshringle our townhouse complex. So far no leak, so we are happy. The big test is coming winter, and we will see. What we are not too satisfied with is Cornell's administration. Firstly, there were a few loosen shingles (after a major rain strom) that we asked Cornell to fix up. I don't know if they have fixed them as I have not heard back from them. Secondly, we paid Cornell in full right after the job was finished (Mike picked up the cheques personally). However, we didn't get an invoice until 3 months later, that was after many phone calls and emails by various homeowners. We need the invoice to claim the home renovation tax credits and for warranty, so we were nervous for a long while. One more note: unless you get Mike's PERSONAL cell phone number, you won't be able to talk to a person on phone. They didn't return my calls / voice messages about the invoice and the loosen shingles that I left on the published business phone numbers. We finally talked to Mike because one of the homeowners had his personal cell phone number. I would recommend Cornell for roof reshingling based on their workmanship, but you may consider insisting on getting the invoice prior to paying them. I also highly recommend getting Mike's personal cell number.

    Gutters and soffits

The Cornell Roofing crew showed up for the removal and replacement of my gutters right on time. The crew was a great group of guys all clean cut and very cheerful. I watched carefully as they worked and soon realized there was no need to overview as these fellows where not just installers but craftsmen. The quality and service was excellent and it was obvious to me that the company policy was geared around the best product and service as customer service was their priority. These new white gutters and soffits have given my home a complete facelift. I have and will continue recommending Cornell Roofing to anyone that will listen.

    Re-Roofing

Shingles are manufactured by a few companies and all are more or less the same within their price and quality ranges. In my opinion, the difference between a good roofing job and a bad roofing job is workmanship. The folks at Cornell have years of roofing experience and that experience shows in the workmanship they bring to the job. My re-roofing job was done in less than a day and details often skipped by some roofers were attended to as a normal part of the job. Flashings and vents were replaced, stacks painted, caulking was done, not to mention a superb clean up of materials, debris and nails at the end of the job. Many years of experience contribute to Cornell's fine workmanship. My new roof has added to the value and appearance of my house and I would recommend the work of Cornell Roofing without hesitation.

    New Roof

Very professionally done! Mike understands what total customer service is all about. Here's a guy who who returns calls and emails right away. Mike and his great crew had the entire roof replaced in one short December day. This included the replacement of an old skylight and the removal of 3 layers of shingles on our two story home. The price for this quality job was very fair. Prompt and courteous, we couldn't be happier with our choice. Thanks again, Mike, to you and to your entire team.

    Roof Replaced

I procrastinated on replacing my roof since I don't know anything about home repairs and find it frustrating to find good people (I've found lots of disappointing people!). I called Mike after reading Cornell's positive reviews. He promptly sent Mark to do an estimate, which was one of four I got, and his was by far the most detailed and professional, and very fairly priced. Everyone I dealt with from Cornell was friendly, polite, prompt, attentive, and took the time to explain. They drove back and forth to my house (on a weekend, and in spite of other commitments) with samples, and bigger samples, as I had trouble picking a colour. Shingles were dropped off the evening before the job....I left for work the next morning while the guys were working, and when I came home that night I had a beautiful new roof. There was no evidence that anyone had even been there. Stay-at-home neighbours who had been watching the project all day were very impressed. I'm writing this review five months after the roof was done, because I was prompted by some bad home reno experiences to reward a good one. Thanks Mike, Mark and crew. I will refer to you whenever I have the chance, and already have a couple of times.
