Mike delivered what he promised, quickly. His man did short us on two attic vents, I called Mike and he promised to get his man over quickly to finish the job. One hour later it was finished! I was also impressed with his price for the job.

We had squirrels in the attic and got them evicted. We called Cole to inspect the outside roof for entry points. Cole was punctual and arrived at the agreed time. Within miniutes, he was able to spot the problem. He proceeded to climb on our two storey roof, and fixed the issue quickly. Excellent job! Would recommend him to others.

I selected Cornell Roofing based on the reviews on this site. I had interviewed over 6 roofers and Cornell was everything you want a contractor to be. (a) anytime I called, I got a LIVE voice. (b)quotation was given in less than 24 hours - Cole came to the house, climbed on the roof - after showing his insurance papers and took calculations (some roofers look at your house from the outside, don't take a single measurement and come up with a magical number) (c) Cornell showed up ON TIME with materials (I notice some roofers leave the material on your driveway for 1-2 days, not Cornell)(d) was always PROFESSIONAL (e) secured the area - which included protecting my property (f) cleaned up the area meticulously (I have kids)- still haven't found any loose nails (g) after they finished the job, I had some questions - I still got a LIVE voice and exceptional customer service. <pre-roof> Cornell Roofing came and secured my roof to ensure no damage would occur to the house while I waited for my booking - the weather was not very co-operative this year - remember all the rain. They dropped of samples which I had a hard time committing too, Cornell wanted to make sure I made the right decision, they came that day with larger samples. Cornell's pricing, quality of workmanship and customer service is their competitive advantage. I strongly recommend them - and I'm very picky.

We were overwhelming satisfied and extremely pleased with our selection of Cornell Roofing. We spent the better part of several weeks scoping and screening a half dozen or more roofing contractors. None of which met our criteria. Then by chance we came across the Homestars website and found the reviews for Cornell Roofing which seemed almost too good to be true. After reviewing Cornell's quote and subsequently interviewing Mike Greathead, we felt confident in our selection to go ahead with them as our preferred roofer. They met all of our criteria and we were not disappointed with the work, and in fact it exceeded our expectations. They were very professional and thorough in every aspect, from start to finish. 1.Initial Site Visit =============================== Cole arrived shortly after our initial request for an estimate. He proceeded to climb on our two storey roof, examined the state of our shingles, took measurements of every section of our roof and reflected these in a detailed sketch. Nothing was left to guessing. 2. Written Quotation ============================== A detailed written quotation was provided to us that included copies of 3rd party liability insurance, Worker's compensation letter, references, reviews and an itemized estimate. All of this information was professionally packaged. No other roofing contractor that we interviewed provided such a detailed package as Cornell Roofing did. 3. Installation/Clean-up ========================================= A work crew of 8 to 9 men arrived early in the morning on the day the job was scheduled to start. They quickly went into action, taking measures to protect our windows, garage door, air conditioning unit, decks, interlock driveway etc. Soon thereafter they went to work on the roof section by section, stripping the old shingles, discarding them into a bin, and installing the new ones as opposed to some roofers who strip the entire roof, exposing it to possible water damage in the event of rain. The job was completed in one day which was one of our criteria. Before leaving our home, the crew cleaned up the entire worksite from nails and other debris. Small businesses that are successful are driven to the forefront in part by their founders who embody a commitment to excellence, quality workmanship, service and a perseverance to be the best. Mike Greathead possesses all of these qualities. We found him to be an individual of principle, honesty, and integrity. This is reflected in the conduct of his business operations and in his supervisor Cole. Ultimately he has these expectations of all his employees and crew. If I had to choose one word to sum it all up it would be - EXCEPTIONAL

Cornell Roofing did a very good job to replace my old roofing. They are very professional on the roofing job. It took them a long time to my roof replaced (2 months after the contract was signed). I understand that they are very busy especially in the summer time. There is two problems we had after the roof was replaced: 1. We found out we had two cracks (one 5+ inches and one 12+ inches) on two windows. We contact Mike and he told us that he will get them resolved. One month passed by and nothing was happening. We are very concerned since the winter is just around the corner now. 2. They did a magentic broom to pick up the nails but we still have many nails on our lawn and on the driveway as well.

I'm very pleased with Cornell Roofing's job -- good workmanship, good attitude, reasonable pricing, and reliable. The company is recommended by a neighbour, which I believe is the best way to get the right contractor. A website like this is also very effective for consumers to weed out all the bad contractors. I have many horror stories to tell, but I think I'd better tell a good story -- Cornell Roofing is one good story! I just recommended it to my girlfriend.

Marilyn and I needed our roof replaced and were diligent about our research, detailed quotations including flashing, protection against ice build-up etc. We had a lot of problems getting good detailed, accurate quotations that were firm and had several vendors visit us. We were getting little fed up with lots of promises but little commitment in writing and the pressure to sign. Mike the President came in and within minutes did a thorough inspection, gave us a straight forward no nonsense detailed quotation and pointed out a problem with insufficient garage venting that caused premature wear on those shingles. Entirely missed by everyone else! Then to our surprise a very fair competitive quote. It continued from there. They were there when promised. The crew was incredibly skilled, gave care and attention to detail, cleaned up thoroughly and were done when they said they were going to be done. They protected Marilyn's gardens and even with all the materials moving around nothing was touched. They even followed up to make sure we were happy with the work. Having had several homes over the years. No one, and I mean no one will ever do any roofing work but for us but these guys. Last spring, our roof sustained quite a bit of wind damage on an extremely gusty day. Several of our shingles were torn off and we were left with bare wood in places. A piece of the aluminum fascia was left dangling as well. We were quite upset and weren't sure where to turn. We contacted three roofing companies in Markham, and ultimately chose to give our business to Cornell Roofing because we felt that they valued us as as customers. Cornell Roofing returned our initial call promptly and courteously. Mike came out that evening to check out the damage. He climbed up on to the roof to get a really good look at what needed to be done. A detailed estimate was in our hands very quickly and arrangements were made to replace the shingles on our roof. Mike assured us that all materials used would be of very good quality. The cost estimate was more than fair and better than the other two that we had received from the competitors. Everything was itemized and easy to understand. It was extremely legible and professional. We knew before Mike and his team even began that we would be satisfied. The roofing job itself was great. Mike and his roofers worked hard until the roof was replaced. He also fixed the dangling piece of aluminum. Looking at our new roof now, almost one year later, you'd never suspect that we had had the damage we did. It looks better than before. Cornell Roofing was professional in their estimates, their actual work, and their clean up. Our place was left clean and tidy. They even used a special magnetic broom to pick up any roofing nails that may have gone astray. I would definitely recommend Cornell Roofing to anyone needing roof repairs or a new roof. We decided to ask Mike to do some vinyl siding work for us after the roofing job. He did great work on that too.

I spent a lot of time researching a number of companies, 15 in all, and Cornell roofing came out on top in these areas: 1) responsiveness, 2) professional and approachable, 3) detailed and well documented estimate 4) reasonable price and 5) consistent and reliable service from the first call to the signing of the deal. When providing an estimate, Mike took measurements and inspected the roof while he was at it. Recognizing that we had lost several shingles he indicated that if we decided to use him, he would patch our roof to tie us over until the nicer weather. (I don't really want to put on a roof in the middle of winter if I can avoid it). After getting quotes from over 10 companies, I chose Cornell, hands down. As soon as I called Mike to let him know he would be our chosen roofer, he responded with a thank you, and then said we will be over today to patch your roof. Wow, talk about service. I indicated that I would not be home for a few hours, he indicated not to worry, with the prediction of several cm of snow, he wanted to get it done before it was covered. By the time I got home, he had already been done and left. Mike came back later in the evening to sign the deal. That is true customer service. Mike and his crew will be doing the roof in April, and we are really looking forward to it. I will provide a review on the installation and the overall quality of the job once complete. However, I was so impressed thus far, I wanted to share my experience with all those who are in the process of getting roof quotes. May 12 -- I'm back as promised with a review of the work Mike and his crew did with replacing my roof. In a word, PERFECTION, in his words, we stand behind our work and it is far easier to do the job right the first time then to have to return and fix it later. From start to finish Mike was very professional, and it speaks highly of the Mike's integrity. All you will get from Mike, is honesty, fairness, a reasonable quote, and a superior quality job delivered as promised backed by a great warranty. If you need more than that, then I wish you happy hunting. My job was not a small one, and the weather was not very cooperative. Notwithstanding, we set a date, and Mike indicated he would call me the day before to advise whether we would need to change the date. Unfortunately, with the prediction of rain, he indicated he would prefer to delay a day then risk a heavy rain on an open roof. I agreed. He showed up a day later as promised, and everything played out exactly how he told me it would. The dumpster arrived, the crew arrived and then the shingles arrived all between 7:00 and 7:15 am. I was actually impressed by how close to the exact time everything arrived. It might have been luck, but I suspect it is due to Mike's experience. I had 8 guys on my roof that day, perhaps a larger than normal crew because it was a two day job and more rain was predicted in the afternoon of the second day. Mike told me that they would do the main roof the first day while they had the large crew, then the second day would be a smaller crew to finish up. Given the prediction rain, he said he would sure the job was completed before the rain. He finished with about 2 hours to spare, none too much when you are working with Mother Nature, but enough just the same. I spent the first day watching these guys in action and no detail was over looked. My wife was there for the finishing touches and the cleanup. They worked steady and did not cut corners. You would think they were installing a roof on their own homes, and that is the attention and care I was hoping for. I am so impressed by the job. I had no idea the roof was going to add as much curb appeal as it does. The finished product is a show case. Lots of neighbours in the area came out to admire the roof with me. You owe it to yourself to call Mike and have him quote on your job. You have nothing to lose. As mentioned before, I did my homework, and it was well worth the time and effort I put into finding the ideal company to do my roof. A roof is not something you put on every day, hopefully I won't need to worry about mine for another 40 years. All the more reason to ensure you get someone you can trust to do a high quality and professional job. Your roof stands out and is something everyone is going to see. Mike and his team were great to work with. The guy's went out of there way to ensure our shrubs and plant's and personal items, BBQ etc would not get damaged. The job was started when I left for work and when I got home the job was completed. They cleaned up the entire yard and even the bin with all the debri was gone. You wouldn't have beleived there had been so much go on without a trace. Roof looks great and has added value and protection to me and my family. Excellent job Mike.
