    Furnace and Water Heater

I have utilized the excellent services of EnerCare Home Services for my furnace (heating and protection plan) and water heater (rental), since 2014. A special thank you to the Service Technician Mr. Sean Whitsitt for his timely diagnosis of an unsafe pipe. I was very impressed by his knowledge, attention to detail and professionalism. His communication skills were impeccable and he explained everything to me in layman’s terms. I am extremely grateful to him for resolving and fixing the B-tag in an efficient and timely manner. Above all, Sean worked with a smile and a cheerful demeanor. Efficient and great customer service - would recommend EnerCare at all times. Corinne Rodrigues Home Owner

    Protection plan

Sent letter with amount for renewal of Protection Plan. Phoned Enercare & representative quoted a lesser rate with 1 month free. Received invoice with original amount. Called over 20 times. No satisfaction. Now paying for a plan that I no longer have coverage for.

Arbitrary charges they failed to explain

I decided to rent a hot water heater to avoid hassles and save time, but I ended up with exactly the opposite case from Enercare. If I had the insight I now have into their record keeping and customer service, I would have bought a tank, not rented one, and avoided Enercare altogether. When my old hot water heater gave out in early 2015, I called Enercare and arranged to rent a new one. The installation was fairly routine, but nearly two years later I received a letter from Enercare claiming I owed them more than $700 as their records showed I had not been paying the monthly rental. This came as a surprise to me as I had dutifully been paying them the monthly fee and had the bills to prove it, a fact confirmed by a puzzled Enbridge Gas. Enercare also wanted to charge me for a site visit they said happened in July (which never happened) and a furnace warranty (which I never purchased from them). I disputed the charge and, after three calls (all of which had different explanations) they acknowledged that I had paid for the monthly rental after all but I still owed them for what they were now calling "merchandise and labour", not from a site visit in July but from the original installation that had happened almost two years previously. Having no faith that their records were accurate, I asked them for a letter to explain exactly what was going on. They pointedly refused, saying "we've told you what you owe, now pay us." When I asked for proof, they said "the onus is on you to prove you've paid us, so contact your credit card company." Wow. I decided to buy out the contract and called the Canadian service team. Finally, I got a good response. They credited me three months rental and deleted the questionable charges. Why it took three months of back and forth and multiple calls to get to that point was beyond me, so I'd recommend buying rather than renting. As I said to the retention team, "why would someone trust you if you can arbitrarily bill them for whatever amount you want?"

    Heating maintenance and protection plan

Great cuatomer care on the telephone. Timely appointment scheduling. We had problems with our furnace, enrolled in the protection program, had 2 appointments and fixed the problem. We would have paid a lot more without the protection program.

    Still on Hold

Have contacted Enercare numerous times to let them know that we have sold our home and have moved. They have acknowledged our move but keep on sending us bills related to our previous home. On hold for over an hour today to try and clear the situation, but to no avail, no one picked up. Stay away from this company.

    Annual furnace maintenance

When Enercare phoned to book an appointment few moth ago, I was not ready with my scheduled and did not want to book the appointment right away. The CSR was limit annoying because of that. Someone else call few days later and this time I could book the appointment. Still, I received communications from Enercare later that I needed to book an appointment... they should communicate better with their customers. The day of the appointment, Paul Antoniak - service representative phoned us 1/2h before he showed up at the door. Very courteous and very professional, he took the time to explain the work and gave us some advice. Everything went smoothly including the checklist review at the end. Very professional.

    Excellent Service and Pricing

We have the home care maintenance service that gives us two furnace checkups and one A/C check up in the spring. Customer service on the phone and when they maintenance person arrives is always cordial, professional, and concerned for us as their customer. We have used Enercare (formerly Direct Energy) for 14 years and we would highly recommend them.

    Furnace & A/C Installation

I was impressed with the service I received at the installation of a furnace and A/C unit at my house. The installers were very professional, courteous and even finished the job earlier than their estimated time. I appreciate that the senior installer Rick explained the new system clearly to me and even took time to answer other questions I had. These guys were a pleasure to work with.
