Easy to book furnace cleaning online. Service arrived right on time and the detailed email report was helpful.

The cost was covered under the annual maintenance plan. A good suggestion was move the appointment next to prior to the heating season as the furnace is 3-5 years from end of life you don't want to find out in the middle of winter.

    Duct Cleaning

When you pay for duct cleaning you expect clean ducts. Had ducts cleaned prior to new AC and furnace install. Old duct work was removed during install and there was a small wedged shaped piece of wood in the duct sitting there loose. The contractor working on the ducts brought it to my attention as he poured out this piece of wood from the vent he just removed. Called Enercare to express my disappointment prior to writing this review. Apparently their duct cleaning only removes dust (according to John from CS). I thought duct cleaning meant clean ducts, as in all foreign debris/objects, especially after paying almost $500 for this sham. Customer care was supposed to get back to me, but they didn't. I had to call back. They did finally get back to me and offered a 50 dollar credit. The fellow that blew out the ducts was friendly enough, but don't expect to truly have clean ducts.

    Plumbing repairs

I've had the Home Protection plan for several years (since the mid nineties) and I looked upon this coverage the same as my house insurance where you're paying premiums for years and never have to put in a claim but it is good to know that coverage is there if you need it. Well in the past year I've had to make use of the coverage on two occasions and in both instances I received prompt and efficient service and the best part it didn't cost me any money. I appreciate the peace of mind I have with my coverages.

    MaytagDishwasher

I had a protection plan with Direct Energy. Ever since this company has made some changes I am very disappointed with their service. My Dishwasher has a broken lock and the front panel has to be changed. It has taken them 7 months to get the part replaced as the technician gets the same wrong colour( Black instead of white) again and again. This is so frustrating and annoying. Very bad co-ordination between the customer care and the technician.

    Furnace Nightmare

My furnace (which is under warranty until 2018) has been broken from October 7 2015 and it's now February 1 2016 and it's still broken. 26 incompetent technicians have been to my house to fix the furnace and Enercare has not only prolonged the process but has also done nothing to pay for the electric heating bills in the meantime or arrange for a competent technician. The last straw is now Enercare wants me to take a weekday off work for a 12pm-4pm appointment so that a heat exchanger can be installed by two technicians. Their favorite word is 'Unfortunately'.

    Furnace service

The motor in my furnace seized and i called for a tech to investigate. He had to order another part. So after taking the day off work the part finally arrived At 7pm just for the tech to tell me they sent the wrong part. So all night my house was freezing and we had to use electric heaters. There was supposed to be a rush on the correct part for the following day, but nobody from enercare called me. I had to contact them to fine out I had to wait for a 5pm-9pm appointment. Another day wasted because of their incompetence. Do not recommend for anyone.

    Monthly Heating & Cooling Plans

Do not sign up for their monthly plans. When it's time to get off their plans they make your life miserable and send you ridiculous invoices through Enbridge Gas. I tried dealing with Enbridge they can't do much either. I am stuck with couple hundred dollar invoices plus I had to get new units installed. What a disastrous company to deal with. My recommendation is to go to a private company. I was with Enercare Home Services for 5 years and not satisfied.

    Worst Customer Service Experience

This company has been a nightmare to deal with. Issue began in November 2015 when we were out of heat for 5 days!! Everyday, after coming home from work, I would call them to check the status, and was placed on hold for a minimum of 30 mins. 2 times, I was hung up on after waiting forever! We had to go out and buy block heaters to place in our kids' rooms- After 5 days, they finally came and fixed the furnace. I had lodged an official complaint about the service I had received, and NO response was made to me. I was promised 'someone will look into this and reach out to you'. During those 5 days of no heat, when I was calling every night to check status of the repair, I had a pushy sales rep, who basically got me on the maintenance plan- She promised me my bill would only be 0.80$ more than what it used to be billed at. I kept telling her, I dont need it, i just need my furnace repaired, then after her being so pushy, I agreed to it thinking its only 80 cents. Well, the bill comes in next month, and im now owing almost $30 more. Called once again to dispute this extra charge, this time thankfully the gentleman said he would adjust it but he only adjusted 20$. During this interaction, I asked about my file, and the complaint I had raised, to find out what the status on that was, he could not assist because he didnt see any notes. Since January started, I have received over 20 calls so far, probably once daily, from 1-800-266-3939. Most of the times, the calls were missed, but about 4 times, I had answered. Yesterday and today were the last straw for me. EACH time I answered, it was for the same thing, 'hi we are calling to schedule a maintenance appointment, since its already paid for'. I refused the first time, but the calls didnt stop. Yesterday, I became irate and told the guy, please do NOT call me anymore. Today, guess what happened, I got yet ANOTHER call for the exact same thing. I'm not sure what type of customer service this company is providing, i've had a few bad experiences in my time, but honestly, this has been THE worst. Nobody cares to listen. Noone is held accountable. Calls are recorded but NOONE cares to pull them and review. Complaint resolution is non-existent.. I have finally called today and escalated the matter YET again! Just sick of companies like this, wasting my time. I understand there are bad experiences, mistakes etc., all this can be turned around, if a manager calls and discusses the matter and resolves it, but here, theres nothing of that sort done.
