    Don't rent from EnerCare! Terms and conditions won't be explained properly

    I was never given terms and conditions. Never informed about the cancellation policy. And just a week ago I got a letter in the mail finally saying that, hey, we would have seen this in our sales agreement and signed it! Guess what, EnerCare? We didn't. We never got the terms and conditions from you in the sales agreement. When we called we were told simply that it will cost nearly $2000 if we want to cancel the agreement and purchase a water heater instead... a price where you can buy FOUR water heaters!!!!! WITH WARRANTY! But often with rentals warranties are non transferable (sometimes are, but often are not) and it costs as much as four of them. And if we pay for your services then after 10 years it would cost around $3500-$4000 which is enough for EIGHT water heaters! Or I can get four of them with a 12-15 year warranty... and possibly enough left over to pay for someone else to service it instead of me. I was never informed that I couldn't just return it. In fact, I was told I COULD before getting the home. Then when calling you I was told "well, its not our fault... they had to inform you...". And yet in the letter it said YOU had informed us. Which, hey, you didn't. I'm going through a complaint process. If I don't get a resolution with that then I'll likely take EnerCare to court and sue them for this. I have the written proof already. And, yes, I am unhappy with the service. I've even written to EnerCare about all of this and got ZERO response to what I wrote to them. Now I'm going to the competition bureau (whom has previously fined EnerCare many millions of dollars for similar practices) and also going to the consumer protection agency of Ontario (whom has also gone after EnerCare and other water heater companies before). It is sad that it had to come to this, but alas...... I never wanted to rent a water heater. And if I knew that it would have been like this then I would have pushed harder to make sure it wasn't like this in my contract!

    Great service

    I'm a new customer - overall the service was excellent from the call center to the technician. A message was left in their general mailbox and the csr rep returned our call within the promised 48hours. The technician arrived on time and was professional and friendly! Fixed my water heater in no time. I was actually very surprised with the great service I received. A++++

    Furnace Maintenance

    The service was very professional. The technician responded all my questions and gave me valuable tips on how to maintain my furnace. He was also very courteous and showed he takes pride of his work.

    staying away - after getting your sales, very poor customer service

    bought a furnance through direct energy and within a year there is water damage to the furnance due to water damage. The water damage is so extensive that a motor is burnt and a circuit board is burnt and god knows what else is rusting in the furnance? Talk to a sales manager about the concern, she express her agreement and unforturnately there is nothing she can do or offer? Not even an apology. Now we are stuck with a furnance that is rusting inside while paying full price for it. Staying away from this company.

    Wally C. was the serviceman who did the required maintenance. I feel he went out of his way to help me and provided all kinds of information and answers to my questions. I feel he went over and above the call of duty!

    The person sent to do the job was pleasant, proficient, and efficient. If there is a need for addressing any other plumbing problem in the future, I would like to have the same fellow do the job. Thank you

    Water Heater/Customer Service

    The advisor helped us out and provided a friendly customer service. They took care of the issue and provided the info of what time the technician will come to fix the water tank. awesome job!!

    Water Heater Service

    Service man called before coming ... wore booties over his shoes to protect floors ... explained what he was doing ... and asked us questions as to what problems we had with the hot water tank. And the problem was fixed we have lots of hot water now.

    You got everything right . . . the phone message, the person who came and fixed it after immediately finding what was wrong and leaving the place neater than it was.

    In terms of peace of mind, your company does offer affordable plans . . . to allow a customer to save money on repairs and diagnostic fees . . .
