    clogged kitchen drain

ALl you hear are horror stories about contractors - well this experience was exactly the opposite. I was told exactly what was being done and how much it would cost - correct on both counts! The work was done as promised - the house was spotless when he left - a great overall experience. Matt was the best!

    Upgrade Water Pipes and Drain

When the water stopped coming out of my taps, the City employee told me it was my responsibility since the problem was with the pipes on private property. After contacting one plumber who did not do excavation work, I found DrainWorks online. They came the day I called to give an estimate, and the work was done the very next day. They treated my emergency as one. The employees were friendly, professional, and smart. I was informed that I would be reimbursed by the city for a portion of the work, and they made the paper work easy. When the job was done, the city employee was at my door with the necessary forms, and DrainWorks provided the info I needed to include on the form, and the receipt marked "Paid in Full". Couldn't have been easier. AND they did a perfect clean-up job; new top soil where they dug in the garden, and hosed down the walk and the front porch. I was very impressed, from start to finish.

    Broken and clogged drains

I have utilized the services of Drainworks twice in the past seven years. The first time, they avoided having to dig up our basement due to often clogged sanitary drains caused by tree roots. They scoped to find the problem and then relined the drains with a special process. We have not had a problem since the repair! Last week I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Mike Dunn and Eric to resolve another problem about a basement leak due to a broken clay pipe.Once again my problem was diagnosed and corrected quickly and most efficiently. I highly recommend Drainworks and their staff!

    unclogging toilet

It all started with my 2-year flushing a toy car down the toilet. Needless to say, it rendered the toilet useless. I called DrainWorks, and they had a technician out the next day. He arrived on time, with the little shoe covers, etc. He removed the toilet to get at the toy, and reset the toilet. It was pretty much downhill from there. After "fixing" the problem, he flushed the toilet once to show it was working. The flush was less powerful than before my son sent the toy down. Yes, you could argue that I should have had the toilet flushed several times with toilet paper before saying "OK", but you know what they say about hindsight... Later, that day, when we actually USED the toilet, it was apparent it was not "fixed". I called DrainWorks back, and their response was basically "the toy was removed, we did our job - if you think there's another problem, we can send a technician out to scope your line for $250" WHAT?!?! How about "we'll send the technician back to have another look"? Obviously, I declined the offer to be relieved of another $250 [especially considering the toilet worked fine 2 days prior] I called AGAIN and got the same response. I then called another plumbing company. They dispatched a plumber the next day, and within 20 min of plunging, the toilet was operational again!!! Unfortunately, I was out another $150. I then called DrainWorks back to let them know someone else finished their job for them, and that I'd like a PARTIAL refund. All they did was repeat the routine from a day prior, and basically showed no concern that they did half a job. The way I see it, there were 2 problems: (i) the technician did half the job (ii) when given the opportunity to finish the job, their immediate response was "it'll cost you another $250" I will never use DrainWorks again. I'll warn anyone that their customer service is at the very least pathetic as soon as they have your $$$. I'd go as far as saying it borders on unethical. A final word of wisdom to those who ever have ANY plumber come by to fix a toilet... Never pay and let him or her leave without having THREE flushes go down successfully, WITH a wad of toilet paper each flush.

Hi Steve. We are glad that you posted this review so that we may expand on it and shed some light on the situation. On September 8th at 3pm our technician arrived on time at your home to assess an issue that you described as a slow draining main floor toilet as a result of your son flushing a toy truck in it. While our technician was on site, he uninstalled the main floor toilet, removed the toy from the underside of the toilet, reinstalled the toilet with a new gasket and on top of that augured the toilet. Our technician spent 1 ½ hours at your home completing these repairs and charged $244 + GST. The technician flush tested the toilet with you present to confirm your satisfaction of the now functioning toilet. Directly following this confirmation of completion, you proceeded to pay the amount in full and signed the invoice. You state in your review that, “The flush was less powerful than before my son sent the toy down”, but then that raises the question; why would you pay and sign for a job you were not satisfied with? Based on your actions, you must have felt the job was completed, it is illogical to assume otherwise. You also mention that you should “never pay and let him or her leave without having THREE flushes go down successfully, WITH a wad of toilet paper each flush.”, but then that raises the question; If the toilet plugs on the fourth or fifth flush, are we still responsible? At some point you as the consumer must be held accountable for claiming satisfaction by paying and signing for work completed at your home, especially when it addressed the objective of our visit. It is true that you called back later in the same evening of September 8th claiming that the toilet was slow draining again. Our response was to send the technician back over to investigate further with a camera inspection, which we offered at a discounted rate, to inspect any additional concerns. You chose not to take advantage of our offer so to be “relieved of another $250”. You expected extra work to be performed for free. Why would further work above and beyond what we were originally called out to perform be free? Fourteen days later, you called our office to state that you paid a different company $140 + GST for a plunging that took 20 minutes, and you expected a refund from us of $140 + GST. In our opinion, a plunging is not a solution. There are obviously issues with your toilet that you do not care to address, hence the illogical 14 day wait with a non functioning toilet. We would have gladly come out to address the additional concerns, but you chose to pay another company instead of us, a company who you describe in an additional review on this website as being 4 hours late with no phone call and who left your home dirty. Furthermore, when you requested the refund from us, you threatened to write this negative review if we did not oblige, and we are glad you did as DrainWorks has nothing to hide. We are strong believers in honesty and truth, which in this situation is that you wanted further work for free and gave us a bad review for not surrendering to your threats. The true proof of our service shines through the other 274 unbiased reviews on this site from people who beg to differ with you.

Snake out of drain pipe in basement

The Drainworks guys do not work on commission. That means they will give you the staight goods without trying to convince you to do work that you are not ready to do. Most of the other companies do this work pay their staff on commission.

Slow/blocked drains and video inspection of main

After reading excellent reviews I decided to go with Drainworks right away. Armando came the day after I called, within the time they said, and gave me a clear idea of what he would do and exactly what it would cost, which was about what I expected, but actually slightly less than the CSR on the phone estimated. He did the job competently, courteously, and cleanly, making sure to check everything and answer my questions clearly. I have had no experience with other plumbers to compare to, but I am very pleased with Armando's work.

    Repair damaged drain under house

It's been several months since the last job was performed by DrainWorks. I actually had them in on two different occasions, repairing different sections of the drain. On both occasions, they did a marvelous job of excavating the floor, repairing the drainpipe, and replacing the floor, and cleaning up. They are so clean that after they are done, you wouldn't even know they had been there, except for the fact that the drain now works and the cement is still wet. They are pricey (don't get me wrong - they are price competitive with similar companies in the industry) and as good as they are, I probably wouldn't use them for small plumbing jobs. Nonetheless, for any jobs involving excavation, I don't think I would use anyone else. And they guarantee their work!

    clearing drain blockage

After two or three attempts to clear the blockage problem it was decided that the sewer had to be dug up and the broken pipe replaced. They were prompt in arriving on time, very tidy and left the place in as good a condition they could have. We would gladly recomeme then to our friends.
