    backed-up toilet

Jeremy came to our house within a couple of hours of my call. His workmanship was top-notch as was his professional attitude. I am very satisfied with the service, though the price is a tad on the high side George

Replacing main drain because of tree roots

We noticed our floor drain backing up, and I decided to call in professionals. Jeremy from Drainworks came out, did a camera inspection, located where the blockage was, and organized for the old breather and trap to be removed. He suspected tree roots were the cause, and indeed they were. Drainworks did a neat job, a thorough job, and also got all the paperwork in order for me to get a rebate from the city since the tree was on city property. There was no drama with Drainworks, which was great, and I can't thank Jeremy enough for his dedication to getting this problem fixed properly and permanently.

    Clogged Drain

After making several of our own attempts to unclog our sink drain, we consulted the yellow pages and were impressed with Drainworks ad. That evening Jeremy, one of their technicians, arrived and snaked the drain 20-25 ft and we finally had our drain cleared. We were impressed with Drainworks very professional, thorough and courteouse service. Thank you again.

    Drain Pipe Replacement

I called them to check out our drain for clogs and they found the old clay pipe had tree roots entering the drain in quite a few places. I gave the go-ahead to replace the pipe and they did exactly what they said they would do including a very good cleanup job afterwards. Plus they fixed some plumbing mistakes left to us by our predecessors - all as part of the project. These days, it's refreshing to work with a service provider that sets a clear expectation and then exceeds it. Thanks to Armando, Walter and the crew for your good work.

    Drain replacement

The work was completed in a timely manner. Jeremy was very helpful in identifying the problem and determining what need to be done. The excavators kept the area clean and protected and did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. The camera inspection after the job was done helped to convince me that everything had been done properly. Thanks a lot.

    Plumbing repairs and advice

We had to have some work done on taps, toilet flappers and an assessment about our main valve shut-off which was broken. The dispatcher kept us informed of our time-line and was very pleasant. Ernie came a day ahead of time, which was terrific. He quickly and effeciently assessed the jobs and gave us a very fair esimate for the work he would do. He was fast, efficient and tidy. He gave us excellent advice for our main shut-off valve problem and how to organize this repair with the city. He told us what to do and what to expect at each phase of the repair. His professional and experienced advice was greatly appreciated as this type of service is new to us. From our experience, we can say that Drainworks is a very reliable, up-front and honest company.

    Plumbing

DrainWorks gave me 2 different stories on the phone as to when they were available. The first time (on a Friday) I called they said that they could not do any plumbing work until Tuesday. I called back Monday morning and the plumber arrived there in an hour and a half. The plumber who was very friendly and efficient installed a new bathroom trap for me. I had another plumber in today (independent...not with DrainWorks) to replace something in the kitchen so I asked him how much he would have charged for the same job (I gave him the amount of time the plumber was here and showed him exactly what was done) and he told me what he would have charged (a third the price might I add). When I told him what DW charged me he almost fell over and told me I got ripped off (I kind of figured that). Morale of the story: Get a plumber you know and trust...someone who won't overcharge because they work for a big company.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Lyn. Thanks for taking the time to provide a review. I'm Terry Cord, founder and President of DrainWorks. As you can see, I take great interest in all opinions shared, even though in this case I have to respond to some of the claims, which seem out of step with what actually happened. You state that the work done was to replace a trap under your bathroom sink. As the invoice - which you signed off in approval in advance of any work states - we also re-piped all piping under the sink as well as change the faucet. That's quite different than what you stated in your review. As for the timing, this business runs on schedules that can easily shift, for some problems are quicker to solve than others. It's our practice to never promise anything to a client that we are not certain we can deliver. On Monday following the weekend, you called again and we had an appointment time available which you took ( an hour and a half after your initial call ). I'll assume that the reason you called us again was that you were simply not able to secure an appointment with anyone else. Therefore, I would say that DrainWorks is the company that came through for you, otherwise we wouldn't have been there. As for your independent plumber and his assessment of our charges, we put everything in writing and we present it clearly for your approval. It's our practice, for we know all too well that talk is cheap. We certainly would not proceed without express signed approval from you, our customer. One more thing you should know about our company is that that unlike almost every company in plumbing, our staff are full time and salaried. They are never paid a commission for any job, and in the plumbing business, this is very rare. We take the time to do every job right and we are extremely efficient. I doubt anyone would be happy if we chose to take more time than necessary and charge less per hour, for that isn't good business and it's why we charge by the job and not by the hour. It keeps things honest. Again, I support everyone's right to share an opinion on our service, but when we feel a review is not accurate, I will try to bring balance and insight to opinions that we feel might confuse or misrepresent the actuality of the situation. Terry
