    Main House Drain Blocked

We have used Drainworks for a previous job in 2009 and called them when we expereinced a blockage in the main drain for the house. They were able to get out to our house quickly and the plumber was friendly and took the time to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. The pluming problem was quickly resolved. The plumber was also very courtious and professional. I wouldn't hesitate in calling Drainworks again for any plumbing issues and appreciated the detail and information the plumber provided. Thanks again

    Clogged drain on second floor

While washing up in the sink this afternoon, brown *goop* started backing up into our tub. We've used Drainworks before and the same technician, Matthew, was assigned to our call. Matthew cleared the drain and explained clearly what had caused the backup. We were very happy with his work, both this time and the last. We will definitely use Drainworks again should the need arise.

    replace clay pipe

BEST SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!! TWICE. My name is Margo Webb. 117 Anndale dr. North York. We used DRAINWORKS 10 years ago. and when we had an issue again this week, they were the only number we looked for. We live in an area of Toronto that has many mature trees and many of our neighbours are experiencing drain issues. We tell them all to call DrainWorks, period. They treat our issues with urgency, professionalism, respect for our home, and most importantly they communicate with us. We knew when, how, how much, and how long. They even showed us everything we needed to know along the process. GREAT GROUP OF MEN. Thanks DrainWorks. p.s. please send the cheque to me, as it needs to go to Sudan. Thanks. Margo

replacement of old trap and part of the sewer pipe

I had a sewage back-up on a Friday night. William took the call. He was polite, helpful and very professional. The next morning Matt who was on weekend duty came by and did a camera inspection and identified the outdated outside trap as the problem. We agreed on a quote for its replacement. On Monday, Lou with his team showed up. The trap was replaced. The procedure was explained and I was shown all the camera images. The camera showed a problem in another part of the sewer - an "off-set" pipe that was obstructing flow. I was not at all pressured to replace it but was advised that it would be a good move. I agreed - no pressure whatsoever. I am amazed that everything went so smoothly. A dream company for sure - no exaggeration!

    Lead Pipe Removal Quote

Given my good recent experiences finding contractors on homestars, I decided to call Drainworks to get a quote on a lead water service pipe removal for my home. Part of the appeal of calling this company was the "100% commission free" advertising that led me to believe this would be a no pressure type of experience. We worked out a time, and I was told I would be charged $69 for a quote. I found this a little peculiar since most contractors don't charge for a quote for your business, but I agreed, since the phone rep assured me that i could use the quote fee as credit against the work done, if i chose to proceed with Drainworks. Sounded fair enough. The drainworks rep came and proceeded to do the work and talked us through everything. However, the costs were approximately 50% more than what my home inspection report had estimated, so i figured i should get a second or third opinion. The rep explained to me the rationale for the quote, which was fine. I was not arguing the cost. However, I would be doing a disservice to myself to not get at least another quote when the difference was $1500. I asked if i could have a day or two to review the quote and get some other opinions. I was then told if that were the case, i wouldnt be able to apply the quote fee of $69 to the service. That's $69 on a $3100 quote. This seemed a little nickel and dimish on the company's part, and in a way, going against their principle of "no pressure tactics". Certainly seems like one to me if a discount is only available in the next 5 minutes. At any rate, given my situation, i owed it to myself to get another few quotes, which i did. I decided to go with another contractor on Homestars for the work. It was a bit cheaper with some other contractors, but ultimately, my decision on who go with came down to who I felt like i could trust. Nickel and diming a customer when your top line advertising implies the opposite does not illicit trust. EDITS POST-COMPANY RESPONSE: I'm not here to argue with the company's tactics. People can read and take from it what they want. With that said, I edited this response to correct the pricing typo in one portion of the review. (in 3 other spots, it had the correct price before the company response was posted). I was told by the rep that work would begin on another visit, so they would have had to come again regardless. All in all, I think I'm a pretty reasonable person, and as i said, it came down to tactics that made me feel like i could not trust the service provider. To each their own.

    Answer from pro:

**Lawrence** Firstly, let us clarify that the assessment fee is $69 and not $79. Let us also clarify that it was disclosed to you over the phone before scheduling the appointment that the $69 would only be applied if proceeding on the spot. The reason being is that when proceeding on the spot, an additional visit is not required. As it does cost to send a non-commission based, salaried technician to your home, an additional visit would garner additional costs. Also, the fact is that you initially did not book the appointment with us after being informed of our process, but then called back to book after thinking it over. How can it be a pressure tactic when you were informed up front before you made the decision to book the appointment? DrainWorks followed through exactly as we said we would. In addition, we always encourage our customers to obtain multiple quotes should they choose to, and as such, we offer a 10% price beat on comparable quotes, which in essence means we do offer the lowest price.

    Replace main drain trap

Basement drains were backing up - called Drainworks based on Homestars recommendation. They arrived quickly and determined the cause was the trap outside the house. They recommended replacing the trap and bringing the outside plumbing up to code. Was satisfied at the time - they said our drains were in great shape after the work = but 2 months later our drains are blocked again. Called Drainworks who will only guarantee the 4 feet of pipe they put in. Want to charge us for another camera inspection - $265. Called another plumber who told us that the outside access they installed was inaccessible because of where they placed it - under our porch steps. Fixing their oversights will cost us hundreds more. Will never use them again.

    Answer from pro:

Jen. Your warranty is on the pipe that we replaced, as such, there is no warranty on anything that we did not replace. You don’t expect to have a warranty on something we haven’t done, do you? Also, to clarify regarding what you deem as an oversight, as we only replaced a portion of your existing pipe (4ft out of approximately 100ft of sewer line) therefore the location of the outside access points was not determined by us, but rather is determined by the location of where your original pipe was located. Also, you mentioned that your drains were in “great shape after the work” but to clarify, the final inspection report reviewed, acknowledged and signed by you at the completion of our work does indicate – in fact – the contrary, that you have improper and illegal connections of your washroom to your basement floor drain. Lastly, we do not charge for warranty related issues. DrainWorks was more than happy to visit your home to determine whether or not your complaint had anything to do with warranty with a camera inspection. If the issue was with our work, then it would be under warranty and would have been dealt with at no charge by DrainWorks, but if it had nothing to do with our work, then it is not under warranty and as such you would be responsible for the cost of the inspection. You declined this service.

    replace part of drain line

The drain from my house was blocked by tree roots, causing flooding in the basement. Another company snaked it, but it blocked again in less than a month. Drainworks came, put the camera down, found the problem and told me the only fix was the replace the pipe. They did that, digging down 9 feet near the water and gas lines and everything is fine now. I like how they allow to submit requests online, and each employee has a business card. They also keep you informed at every stage - very good communication approach.

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Andrew**We're glad to see that you appreciated our insistence on keeping you informed through every step of the process; we wouldn't have it any other way. It's imperative that you, as the homeowner feel comfortable and kept in the loop with what's happening in your home. As well, it's nice to see that enabling our customers to submit their requests online was something you enjoyed. We look forward to being the plumbing and drain experts you can rely on

cleared drain & camera inspection of pipes

Drained backed up & we called DrainWorks to clear the blockage and inspect the pipes. Pipes were inspected with a camera and blockage was cleared. Problem to be found on City property. City will not fix the problem as we did not call them first while experiencing a blockage. Excellent and prompt service but this knowledge about City responsibility would have been helpful!

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Liz W**we are happy to hear that you were pleased with our excellent and prompt service for the drain issue you experienced at your home, however, we do want to clarify your concern about us not advising you about calling the city. The only way for us to know for certain that your issue was either on your side or on the City’s side, is to provide you service. If we were to show up and advise you to call the City out before anything was done, only to have them arrive and tell you to call a private contractor, such as us, you would be back to square one, when we were already onsite to address your drain issue. Unfortunately, we cannot control the City’s policy on only coming out to a homeowner’s residence when they are flooding. Ultimately, this is an issue that you would need to take up with them. We look forward to being your drain and plumbing service provider in the future.
