installing chandelier, sconces, separate service to microwave, outdoor lighting, fan installation, TV wiring, etc.

Don't let Kiya's heavy accent dissuade you! He is a very clever electrician. He understands what you want and tries to find a way to achieve it with minimal repairs. He is not lazy and has no problem repairing previous electrician's oversights / errors. Although his team tries to keep things tidy, you may want to patch the holes yourself (according to my husband) but hey that's not the service you are paying him for, it's just a bonus that they patch at all.

REPLACE KNOB N TUBE, INSTALL MOTION-SENSOR LIGHT

We initially called to upgrade from 70 amp to 100 or 200 amp. A few other estimates: $3000 and up. He said we already had 100 amp, just needed a fuse. No charge for that very valuable advice! So we had him replace last of the knob & tube and put in a foyer motion sensor light. Trustworthy (he let himself in & did the work with no one home) and thorough. And performed a few other electrical fixes for no extra charge. He did the work, we put the house on the market a few days later. Sold within the week! His work definitely contributed to that.

    Neat, clean and professional

I originally called an electrician who comes highly recommended by Royal Lighting (Brian Stinton) who I had used in the past to put up light fixtures. This time I needed a cable line fished through some walls and a bulkhead and brought up a wall so I could hang a television. He did an absolutely horrible job. He was too lazy to put the cable right through the bulkhead into the next room and instead brought it into the bulkhead in a closet, pulled it out and stuck it through the wall next to the room the television was going into. He didn't even put in a coaxial box or even staple the cable to the wall...the cable was left just hanging over the shelves in the closet. He gave some lame excuse about why it was done that way and charged a lot of money for such horrible work. The guy is a scam, plain and simple. ENTER: Kiya. He was absolutely amazing. He answered my call right away, came over the same day to look at the problem and came back the next day and did such a wonderful job. It looked exactly the way it was supposed to be done in the first place. I also got him to fix a few telephone jacks which he very willingly did at the same time. His pricing was VERY FAIR and he is a very nice man willing to help out which ever way he can. I will never use another electrician again and plan on using him for several other things I need done around the house. Kiya's work is definitely worth every penny!

converting to 220 Volts for a new dryer

When I bought a more efficient dryer, I found out that the plug requires 220V, I only had 110V outlet for laundry area, not to mention that the panel is quite a distance from it with a closet and staircase on the way. I thought it wasn't just a simple job, I expected it would take him longer to finish it. I was pleasantly surprised that he completed the job in no time, and no trace for holes or even a scratch on my wall... very efficient, very precise and yet very considerate on some of my requests. If you are looking for a licensed electrician who charges reasonably, Kiya is the man!!!

Install 220 V outlet for stove

Kia did a great job installing my stove 220V outlet. He arrived shortly after the time discussed and did an excellent installation job. Neat, tidy and he responded to my telephone calls (very rare these days!). We will use Kia again. thanks!

    Kitchen under cabinet lighting

I decided to put some under cabinet lighting in my kitchen finally and was having a hard time finding an electrician that would do the wiring and provide the lighting as well until I came across Kia through this website. He provided me a price for his work which was comparable to others but also took the time to explain the differences between fluorescent, halogen, xenon and led lights and what the pro's and cons were. We are very pleased with the work he did and will be using him in the future. Thanks,

    Electrical mystery

Kia was great. We lost power to a portion of our house after an AC/Vacuum mishap. Kia was quick, professional, and a pleasure to work with. In the end, it ended up being a very simple problem to rectify. Kia put everything back as it was and also noticed a few other items while there. Thx Kia!

    Remove Knob and Tube

I recently purchased a home with the understanding that there was some knob and tube on the second floor. I negotiated insurance but only with the clause that I have all the knob and tube replaced in sixty days. As my inspector found the branch, panel and other wiring quite well done, I figured this would be painful but doable. So I came to HomeStars and got five firms to give me quotes. I started with the top rated electrician in Toronto and worked my way down. Let me just say that this was a horrific experience in all but one case. Each vendor quoted prices higher than the last. One wouldn't even give me a final quote. He said it would be roughly $11,000 but he wouldn't know until he took my basement ceiling off. And here is the kicker. He wouldn't put it back. I'd have to negotiate that separately with a general contractor. My house on the first and basement level is beautifully finished and renovated. I don't have an open basement. I don't have an attic. I was told by one contractor that my house was a "Nightmare" and to just live with the knob and tube or I would have to move out for 15 days while they ripped the walls apart. And again, they wouldn't put it back together. Then I met Kiya. First, Kiya spotted some warning signs within 5 minutes of walking in my house. And sure enough, it turns out my entire house had knob and tube. Oy. The previous owner had hidden it with some very sneaky tricks. But Kiya told me not to worry. I remember asking him, "do you have to take my ceiling out??" and I will forever remember his laughter and his answer of "why would I ever take your ceiling out!?" Kiya's crew did three amazing things when it comes to contractors. First, they arrived on time the day they said they would start. Seven of the most fabulous men descended with care on my house. Second, they did not destroy my house. I am still marveling at how they managed to run wires across three floors with so few holes. Holes that they patched back up before wrapping and cleaning up. And finally, they came in on budget. Time and again, Kiya offered to put in an extra outlet or move a switch to make it more convenient and not once did he ask for money beyond his quote. I can't recommend Kiya or his crew any higher. They will be the only electricians I ever call.

    Update electrical in older home

Even before buying our house (I knew there was a high probability it would need electrical work because of the neighbourhood we chose), Kiya was one of my top picks. He and his crew did a lot of electrical work for us: changing the configuration of switches (current ones made no sense). He also did some 3-way switch work for us. He put in pot lights in our basement; several ceiling fans and a bathroom exhaust fan. He removed extra outside outlets and put in safer outside outlets for us. The only thing he couldn't do was make the heat in my bathroom fan work as this needed a dedicated 20A connection and we have no access to our attic and adding this wire would be too difficult and probably expensive in our current situation. I've read one reviewer who said a company's true character is not in how well they do the job because that is expected but in what they do when a problem occurs: this is a true test of the company. Kiya passes this test exceptionally well. There was a problem with one of our family room switches and although it took a little while to figure it out, Kiya was always prompt in getting back to us and handling the issue. I like the fact he tries to train his crew with the same integrity he approaches his work. I was a bit worried when he initially left his crew but seeing how they work and listening to their answers, I realized the ones in charge were fully trained by Kiya. Kiya is an electrician I can trust and this is a big thing coming from me as I don't trust many people. He is very knowledge in what he does and he provides a great service for his value. He may not be the cheapest but who wants cheap at the cost of safety? I think it is well-worth paying someone you can trust. Thank you Kiya! We appreciate all the work you and your crew did for us.

Replacement of knob and tube, rewiring, and panel clean up.

Mr. Kiya and his team were amazing! They rewired our home up to code; added outlets in every room; fixed and cleaned up the panel; fixed and reinstalled the outdoor lights; and installed new light fixtures. All these with a minimal damage on walls and ceilings. His team was very professional, polite and hard workers. We are very pleased with their work. What is most important, the job was done ON time, ON budget and NO surprises. We higly recomend Kiya Sunrise and from now on will be our first choice on future works.
